My Grandad was in Bradford Pals, he went in on the first wave of the Somme. 1000 went in, he was 1 of 320 unwounded or dead by the end of the day

I have visited Sheffield Memorial Park at the Somme which is a memorial to the men in the Pals regiments including your Grandad who fought there. Maybe it’s because I know what happened there, but when walking through the park past the marks of shell holes and trenches, to Railway Hollow cemetery, I always feel the atmosphere is heavy there.
