I think Kyle really grew up when he decided to redo the MR2 and didn't just throw it in and hope for the best. Would love to see the same detail put into the Prelude, the Hatch, and the Minivan.
He’s definitely grown creatively and as a person over the past few years. No longer is it the days of Kyle doing all his work in single and dual car ports/garage. Those days are long gone. We should all aspire to grow like that in our own hobbies.
the minivan is already pretty solid, the only issue is the transmission/dif, that they're working that out. the hatch will be a monster of a set up, but it shows how hard it is to find H series parts, problem that haunts the 'lude as well

Take a minute and appreciate HOW GOOD the prelude sounded on that last run. She might have gotten hurt getting close to that 9 but holy crap did that last run sound like one hell of a Banshee

The Prelude got it's 9 itself a 9mm crack in the block until he pops the top of the engine off and we will all get to see the internals all mangled up like the engine block turned into a blender and blended up all of the engine internals like a Margarita or a Pina Colada
damn... the look on brents face when he found out how bad she blew, it looked like he lost an old friend, kinda tugs at the heart strings cuz brents such a good guy, its like he saw the end of an era
When my buddy's '96 Prelude with the H23 in it threw a rod, that's the exact place where it made a window, except it was all the way through and it made a nice 2" hole. He paid $800 for the car so he was like meh, I'll just replace the motor and then flip it. He was over the car by that point. We replaced that short block with one that was supposed to have been a bent valve in the head from a thrown timing belt. Turned out that it broke the crank between #1 & #2 cylinders. When I started it up it actually ran because it was broken part way through the fat part of the crank, so it was actually still pushing cylinder #1 around, but it made a hell of a racket. Ran it for a few seconds, then shut it down. Checked everything, found nothing wrong so started again, super loud clacking, shut it down again. Pulled oil pan and found the broken crank when turning it over by hand. It was 33 days after we bought the short block too so the yard we bought it from shafted us on it because it was past the 30 day return window. I can't remember where we got the 3rd block from but we drove all the way to Gary Indiana from Buffalo to buy one and the dude turned out to be a scammer and we never got that motor. I can't remember where we finally found one, but it was a really hard to find motor. IIRC I think the machine shop we talked to about maybe frankensteining the two blocks together found one locally. We were trying to take the block with the bad crank and put the other crank in it, but that block was too far gone too. The crank clearanced itself into the casting. We got it all together and running, then painted the car after that to try to squeeze a few more bucks out of the sale. I was in on the deal at this point and we were going to split the "profit". My father was driving past it with a fork lift a few days after the paint was done, and dropped a metal cabinet on the freshly painted hood. That paint job looked so good before that. After we redid the body work and re-shot the hood, we took it out for a spin and the throwout bearing blew apart which took out the clutch fork. We fixed that and finally just put it out to the road for sale with a couple other little things wrong because we were so sick of working on it. A couple months later it hadn't sold yet and some dude lost a cinder block off the back of his flatbed and skated that across the top of both front fenders and the whole hood. Somehow we ended up still finding a buyer for the car in that condition, and even with the jacked up hood, he ended up giving us over 4 grand for that car. I mean the paint still otherwise looked amazing but we were both surprised. By that point we were ready to cut our losses and move on. My buddy has OCD with stuff like this so he went through every last receipt we had and even got a rough estimate of all the gas we used on trips and electricity in the shop. We broke nearly dead even on the deal. I think we made $40 on it, so we went and bought some burritos and beer with it to celebrate our narrow escape from that nightmare. That 'Lude was cursed.
10+ years, that's wild! That's a sign of a phenomenal build. That prelude has gone through a lot in the last decade. The H22 had a good life, it can finally rest easy 😂 Stoked to see the new build!!!!
Hate to to see it happen. Knew it was gonna happen eventually with as much oil pump trouble as you were having. This was my favorite car you had. Hopefully it comes back better than ever and gets the prelude record with an H series.
Bummer… really hope you all rebuild another H22 someday and get that 1/4 mile Prelude record! Been watching the channel since Kyle built the H22 civic and stoked to see this 4th Gen prelude the last couple of years. Hope to see it back up and running strong someday soon!

Kyle this Prelude has given alot of fun over the years, along with alot of grief. The previous engine build may be shot, but I'd really like to see the Lude get a built K swap with the same turbo setup and I wanna see that Lude run 9s. Everyone knows the drawbacks and limitations of the H22. Not saying that all H22 builds are junk (obviously, I've seen quite a few MONSTEROUS H22 builds), but I haven't seen too many that just run and never give any issues.

I agree with you brother. That ol engine owes nobody a damn thing. It's been rode hard and put up wet more than a few times and STILL came out to box every time. And hey, an fwd car that runs a low 10, DAMN near a 9 is nothing to tilt your nose at. That's fast as shit. I'd be proud to have a setup that would consistently knock down those times and come back swinging year after year. 10 years on one engine is a record in it self guys. Good job on that alone Brent!

It would be a really humble move if Kyle gifted the prelude to Brent. Brent has done so much for Kyle and obviously has history and love for the car. It would also be cool if Kyle did a video on Wyatt and what he is about and what projects he wants to take on. This channel was built off the community around Kyle and it would be cool to see homage paid forward.
When it blows up, find a car from the 20s or thirties and then put a Honda J, K, L, R series or diesel engine in. Do it up as a traditional hot rod or make it look like a straight restoration and mess with people’s minds when you drop the go pedal. I love that 56 Chevy lurking in the background, it’s so pretty.
Shoulda fixed the tps sensor right and let Brent drive it...he deserves it...working on everyone's cars getting them ready 24/7 n rarely gets to go down the track.....

That’s my favourite car on TH-cam. I hope you stick with it. Have you heard that there’s an off the shelf awd rear subframe for the prelude now? Might be interesting. I hope you keep the H too. The H was such an underrated engine. It never got the attention it deserved. The K came in so soon after and nobody saw the potential the H has.
That is a great idea, i hope they do the awd subframe upgrade, but i rather they do a K swap instead, it will probably be higher hp and more reliable that way.
They GO just before they blow. I've seen it more than a few times over the last 45 years especially on a NA motor the last pass was the fastest. Ten years is a good run... I sure would like to see you put your Honda in a dragster!
So true they always run the best at the end it seems. The worst is watching someone just let off the gas and engine brake at the end of a run instead of clutching it. I’ve seen more engines blow up when you left off than I have during the run. Thank goodness I haven’t seen or heard Kyle do that much !!

I know the engines screwed but for your future self fit a small inverter in the car to power the laptop, I did it a few years ago and I’m glad I did, has helped me and a lot of people at the track
It's turning out to be a super expensive summer for poor Kyle. Mr2 gets built motor, van loses tranny, and the prelude loses motor hopefully you'll take some time to buy some merch so we can see these hot rods get back in to fine running form.

That’s my favourite car on TH-cam. I hope you stick with it. Have you heard that there’s an off the shelf awd rear subframe for the prelude now? Might be interesting. I hope you keep the H too. The H was such an underrated engine. It never got the attention it deserved. The K came in so soon after and nobody saw the potential the H has.
That is a great idea, i hope they do the awd subframe upgrade, but i rather they do a K swap instead, it will probably be higher hp and more reliable that way.

I've seen it more than a few times over the last 45 years especially on a NA motor the last pass was the fastest.

So true they always run the best at the end it seems. The worst is watching someone just let off the gas and engine brake at the end of a run instead of clutching it. I’ve seen more engines blow up when you left off than I have during the run. Thank goodness I haven’t seen or heard Kyle do that much !!

I know the engines screwed but for your future self fit a small inverter in the car to power the laptop, I did it a few years ago and I’m glad I did, has helped me and a lot of people at the track

It's turning out to be a super expensive summer for poor Kyle. Mr2 gets built motor, van loses tranny, and the prelude loses motor hopefully you'll take some time to buy some merch so we can see these hot rods get back in to fine running form.

@@chrishenry3102 ad revenue from content certainly brings in a bit of money but there is a lot of money to be made from merch sales as well. In fact youtubers can increase there revenue by 10 times with the addition of merch.
