- Novi Sad (Нови Сад) is a city in northern Serbia. Nicely located at the Danube River it has a walkable centre and the hilltop Petrovaradin Fortress which dates to the 17th and 18th century.
We start our walk in the city center on the Trg Slobode with "The Name of Mary Church" (Serbian and Croatian: Crkva imena Marijinog). Our round goes through the old town where we eventually go East towards the Danube through the Danube's Park (Дунавски парк).
We cross the Danube via the Vardinski bridge. The sunset is close so we walk up to the Petrovaradin Fortress with its iconic clock tower for a nice view over Novi Sad and end this walk.

Very beautiful city. Congratulations for wonderful vídeo! Greetings from Belém do Pará, Brasil.
Lived here 1993. to 2003. Greatest city in all ex Yu territory. Used to run along Dunav river and was there when the bridges were bombed. Planned to make NS my permanent home but life got in a way of that one. Very emotional for me looking this walk, some of my fondest memories are from this city. I was 18 when i came and 28 when I left. Stay cool my Novi Sad...
A i ti si se posvađala sa srpskim jezikom, sram te bilo !!!

You wrong it’s not Serbia, Novi Sad is Vojvodina Hungaria.
Serbia 😍 🇷🇸❤🇹🇷
Muy linda ciudad, interesante el cruce del puente y el túnel con vista al río. Gracias y destacable su esfuerzo.
Si, que me gusta.
Thank you for this walk. Never heard of this place. Enjoyed seeing it with you.
0:34 Enjoyed the violinist in this lovely area that looks like it is being restored from a war. I read up this town and found this:
After *1992* , Novi Sad became a part of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. Devastated by NATO bombardment during the Kosovo War of 1999, Novi Sad was left without any of its three Danube bridges (Žeželj Bridge, Varadin Bridge and Liberty Bridge), communications, water, and electricity. Residential areas were cluster-bombed several times while the oil refinery was bombarded daily, causing severe pollution and widespread ecological damage. In *2003* , FR Yugoslavia was transformed into the state union of Serbia and Montenegro. These two states separated in *June 2006* (following the May 2006 Montenegrin independence referendum), leaving Novi Sad part of the Republic of Serbia.

40:51 You took across the Danube via the Vardinski bridge

Then we see a Bride & Groom 45:55 and another set at 50:29
47:14 You had a steep climb, however worth it at 48:02
*HUGE CARGO BOAT* on Danube River, 49:38 The largest I have ever seen! Again at 51:25 with lovely views, as you end your walk.
Thank you Daniel!

Actually, Novi Sad became part of Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes (later Kingdom of Yugoslavia) in 1918. After the WW2 the country changed it's name several times, one of which was Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (Savezna republika Jugoslavija) 😀
Hello Haris Gegic ,,, Thank you😃 for letting us know these facts. Appreciate this info. My information-came from Wikipedia. Which stated needed more updates.

Novi Sad Free and Indepedent of Republic of Vojvodina!!!
nonsense
Can somebody tell how is customer service in Serbia?
In Novi Sad good.
We are known for our hospitality, and are more friendly than most European countries.
Hospitality is fine, but if you're looking for American style ultra-professional hospitality prepare to be disappointed.
First of all, and I consider this a good thing, there are no fake smiles like in the US.
Second of all, the system is not perfect and sometimes there will be hiccups. Sometimes things will go wrong and the folks will scramble to make everything right. Or you might run into someone clearly out of their element, like a novice waiter. Or other times you might run into someone breathtakingly rude and unprofessional, someone who should have been fired ages ago, but his or her job security or connections prevented it.
Regardless, these should not be taken as reflective of the whole. The current system has really gone a long way from the communist era where you literally had to beg people to do their jobs, including in the service sector, and who then acted as if it was some kind of grand favour on their behalf. Still, like I said, there are kinks to iron out.
Very nice.
That's the future!

it looks different from rest of serbian cities
This is a Hungarian city whose real name is Újvidék. We lost the first world war and they got the southern territory.
@@gabormolnar2133 that explains
Gabor please educate yourself: “Novi Sad was founded in 1694 when Serb merchants formed a colony across the Danube from the Petrovaradin Fortress, a strategic Habsburg military post. In the following centuries, it transformed into an important trading and manufacturing centre as well as a centre of Serbian culture, earning it the nickname Serbian Athens.” “Slavic tribes such as the Severians, the Obotrites and the Serbs (including the subtribes of the Braničevci and the Timočani) settled today's region around Novi Sad mainly in the 6th and 7th centuries. The Serbs absorbed the aforementioned Slavic groups as well as the Paleo-Balkanic peoples of the region.”
@@khalidkhalil5437 Sadly, Hungary lost a huge part of its terriority following the Trianon Treaty. If you go to northern Romania, you will realise the same. The whole of Transylvania used to be Hungarian and the cities and towns all look completely different compared to the rest of the country.
@@gabormolnar2133 No it's not the city was founded by Serbian merchants. Austrian influence in the architecture is prevalent that's why it looks different.

Some buildings from the Austro-Hungarian period and some pedestrian street are those that improve the general look of the city from its relative ugliness and its quite poor maintenance.
the beautiful serbian orthodox churches can't be buildungs from the Austro-Hungarian period. But you're right that some places are not "nice".....
wow, never tought someone who isnt form here i assume ,would nail it ! nicely said
Gamal Jinusi except the orthodox church, everything was built during the Kingdom of Hungary
Meme Boi Austro Hungari
Most of the old buildings in Novi Sad date from 18th and 19th century and were built by Serbian merchants, Counts and landowners. Buildings in Petrovaradin (the town just underneath the fortress) were built by Hungarian, Austrian and Croatian merchants. Before 1940s, Novi Sad was known for it's elegance and beauty, but once the socialist government came to power in 1944, most of the old buildings were demolished and replaced with brutalist and social-realist buildings. However, the tourists seem to be quite impressed with the city. Novi Sad was elected European Capital of Culture 2021, so many of the city's historical buildings are being restored.

Great problem in Novi Sad while walking streets are pedestrians who walk like loose doggs. There is no walking culture, like keeping your right side. Many of pedestrians have no basic culture at all. I know 90% of them came to live in Novi Sad from mountains, even thou they live in city for almoust 20+ years, still cant get culture.
I agree. Many people here are pretty aggressive.

One can easily tell that his city used to be Hungarian.
no way bro the city dosent look anything like mongolian idk where u got that from...
Only a few buildings were built by the Hungarians, most of the buildings were built by wealthy Serbian merchants and landowners.
By the way the architecture from Novi Sad is Austrian, Hungarian influence is in more northern parts like Subotica.
kao kad si u bugarskoj vidi se po garavim ljudima da je nekad bila ciganska, a kamoli po arhitekturi.
there was never more then a 20% of Hungarians 😂 there was nore Germans then Hungarians
Ovo nije walking nego runing🤣
