R.I.P. Kirstie Alley! This is one of my all-time favorite SNL sketches, she fully committed, never broke character!!
I was brought here by Rob Schneider paying his respects on Twitter.
@@RagaDaggaRob Sneider is still alive?
@@cliffbythesea2114 yes and he has a daughter who’s sings in a rock band!
Hilarious..she is good
@@cliffbythesea2114 yup going to see him in my hometown in Jan! Got our tickets for $50 now I looked and the same area of seats are going for $500! Lucked out 🍀
Kirstie Alley such a pro for not breaking down. One of the best skits ever!
funny as all hell
TY, you said it, pros - stars - don't break character !!
such a good sport
too bad she's a fascist
Except now she'd probably want all of the wait staff deported.
Most hilarious to me is Farley in the bottom corner of the window, not even trying an Italian accent, just screaming at the top of his lungs. 4:27
100% agreed!
Yep, the whole sketch had me dying, but I totally lost my shit at Farley through the window screaming!
Lmao
YES
Duuuuuuuuude!!! My buddies and I would always talk about that back in the day. He's just yelling. Hahahaha
How Kirstie Alley and Kevin Nealon had a straight face all the way through that is astounding.
Nealon was always a pro comic foil/straight man (on top of being a solid impressionist).
Nealon was so underrated in this scene.
@@spaniardsrmoors6817 Kevin Nealon is underrated in general. He is still awesome.
Kevin could turn Medusa to stone with his stare...he does that on many past SNL skits.
Kirstie had a damp face by the end of it! 😆
I laughed so hard I almost cried. I listen to Dana Carvey and David Spade's podcast- Fly On The Wall. They had Rob Schneider on as a guest and they were talking about this sketch as one of their very favorites. Adam Sandler and Robert Smigel wrote this sketch.
they thought it was Debra Winger.
I came here from the podcast, too! Great podcast!
I am here because I am listening to part II of Rob's episode. This was SO dirty for back then!
@@rickleemusic1 Debra Winger and Kirstie Alley were the mega babes of this era. Their voices, their beauty, their talent.
Same
I’ve seen this skit a million times over the years, and Chris Farley’s screaming in the background when Nealon and Alley are standing outside the restaurant still makes me laugh out loud! 😂😂
The last scream is the nail in the coffin😂😅🤣😂🤣😅😅🤣 stole the skit with screams! Only Farley 🍻
😂😂😂😂
Omg it’s an absolute killer when he screams 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
How she kept a straight face during this sketch i'll never know. RIP Kirstie we'll miss you.
❤
Still funny as hell. The moment Dana mounts Victoria Jackson, just one of the most gut bustingly funny SNL moments ever. Add a game Kirstie Alley, a beefcake Adam Sandler, Farley screaming, and perhaps the best last line of any of the cult classic "best" SNL skits ever, and this just fires on all cylinders.
It was OK
Not close to tje best ever
This is the most memorable cast. I loved this “era”.
Every was not offensive to the audience and rap
Agreed, the late 80's and early 90's had the best cast.
2:51 ...WALKS over to other table.. starts BANGING Female customer.
The cast was strong during this period, but maybe too much personality wise. This was a time when they started having sketches with funny characters with bits that were building up to something, but no punchline. Something like "Canteen boy" is funny, but at the end, he calls on the squirrels like he was Tarzan. This sketch however is funny and expertly constructed.
Rob Schneider said this sketch was an exaggerated version of a double date he had with Adam Sandler where the waiters were hitting on their dates. When you start with something real it helps a lot. Love this cast. You're right that most of them had very strong comedic voices, but they also had the best utility player of all time - Phil Hartman. If Norm Macdonald had been the Weekend Update guy during this period there would be no topping it.
Definitely one of those SNL sketches where the audience clearly goes wild. There are only a few of these that get better and better every line. By the end, being in that studio audience must have been electric.
The Zimmerman's series of SNL sketches are wild too.
Heard of Kirstie Alley’s passing today and it brought me here. One of my favourite sketches of all time ❤❤ RIP
As an Italian I can confirm every restaurant in my country is exactly like that
We can help that we're passionate people. 😂
Lmao 🤣 Caio bello. I am bellisima
Dana Carvey doesn't get the credit he deserves. EASILY one of, if not the best, cast member SNL has ever had. So talented.
Well said extremely underrated, couldn’t agree more my friend!
Because he is ok
Pepperboy was great
Exactly, how Sandler and Ferret Ferrell went on to make millions is beyond me. Sandler was funny in SNL, but acting and his movies? TERRIBLE. And Ferret...NEVER FUNNY.
He gets tons of credit? He’s a legendary cast member lol
Even the small appearance from Mike Myers made me die laughing 😂
as Don Corleone...
Yah,Wayne and Garth together for just a few seconds there.😅😅
I love how Farley didn't even try to sound Italian
Well if you watched his movies he didn't even try acting.
@@spaniardsrmoors6817 pysk nahui duhas act better
well, he didn’t need to sound to sound Italian he just needed to sound Farley!!!! All HOFS
Chris Farley screaming at around 4:27 on the bottom glass window for a few seconds tops the current SNL for one full month. Damn I miss the old SNL.
He was so coked up
Agreed
RIP Kirstie Alley. Seen this when it aired. Electric funny, clear-the-decks hysterical. This drove a bulldozer through everything. I remember almost puking I was laughing so hard. Every cast member hitting on all cylinders. Every time I'm in a restaurant, I always yell, "You don't like-a da Bruschetta?". Someone always laughs.
lmao!!
SAW this when it aired!! Not seen ffs
Kirstie Alley has the hottest "after sex hair" ever lol
I'm Italian and I approve this restaurant
Ah, the good old days. I was 12, Pearl Jam just released Ten, SNL was great every week and had the best cast of all time.
same here-ish.
I was 13. This sketch and a few others from this cast etched in my mind forever.
The early 1990s were great!
You were 12 and your parents let you stay up past 1am to watch adult comedy???

RIP, One of the best sketches ever! How did she not break?!?! Sandler in the speedo...
I havant heard SNL audience laugh this hard in ages. Def one of my fav skits.
Haven't*** not havant.

So does Borat...
Way before Borat, silly.
Rest in peace Kristie alley. You were a class act, funny great sense of humor, the ability to laugh at yourself and a fine person. Never got involved with the big shots in Hollywood which is a good thing.
Great times. Nealon, Carvey, Myers, Farley and Sandler in just one sketch. The early 90s is by far the best SNL cast ever.
True dat!
Mike Myers isnt in this sketch, Rob Schneider is tho
@@doacarnage at 0:30 Mike Myers takes her coat, he has a mustache
@@daweller And nibbling Kirstie's butt or sniffing it as the couple leaves 😂
Yep!
Why is this skit not spoken of as one of SNL’s all-time best? It’s perfection. Kevin Nealon plays the best straight man ever.
Everyone was going around university saying “Bel-LISS-ssima after this aired 🤣
I'll take "Skits That Would NEVER Get Made Today" for $1000, Alex. At 3:00 when he goes in, "It's just their custom" loooooool
Dana Carvey said the censors made a note about the Victoria Jackson thing, but he never got it before the skit. So when he was “doing it”, he saw one of the writers freaking out off camera and waving “no!” to him, but it was too late.
Hysterical, I don't know how Kirstie didn't lose it when Dana was licking her face! I loved this cast too. Oh, the memories!
Did u see her in North and South? She is a great actress, her range is chef's 💋
There is a point where she's smiling, where I think she's close to losing it, but she manages to keep it in.
Kirstie Alley went all in on this. One of my all time favorite SNL skits
Dana Carvey, in my opinion, is the best SNL has ever had.
Chris F I don't agree. I do agree he was one of the best...especially in this sketch. I'd say it's between Farley and Sandler.
What would the Church Lady think of this sketch? She'd think it was written by.... i don't know.... could possibly be.... *SATAN?!*
Yeah man. He would be the MVP of my SNL All Star Team which is basically 90% of this cast.
You must of forgot about Eddie
Phil Hartman was the GOAT. He even made Frankenstein funny.
This was a great sketch. You could never do this today without a lot of crying
Nealon, Farley, Spade, Myers, Carvey, Sandler, Hartman...it's like an all-star team of comedians.
Saboth you forgot Schneider
It’s not Hartman, it’s Kevin Nealon.
Phil is in this sketch?
@@ScreamingLordRocky Nope, thought he was in the background, but that wasn't him.
90's snl cast was the best
She was absolutely gorgeous in her prime. Such an amazing talent and a beautiful human being. The looks were merely a plus. Even when she put on weight she was beautiful. Just a natural beauty. Didn't need makeup. Rest in paradise.
I've watched this a few times but this is the first time I noticed the little pelvic thrust Rob Schneider does in Kirstie Alley's direction at 2:05.... haha
Pretty high on the list of, "sketches that could never air in 2022"
The big "punchline" about the "Greek Restaurant" goes by almost unnoticed...if the husband was unhappy about what ALREADY happened, just wait until "the tables are turned".....
I still don't get it.
I remember when I first saw this, I was about 11 or 12 and a little too young to get the joke about the Greek restaurant. Definitely funnier to me now than it was back then
that wasnt the joke, the joke was that greek culture is similar to italian culture with the kissing, etc. nobody assumes modern day greeks are all gay.
I'm Greek but the anal sex isn't really true. I did it with maybe 2 girls but they have to be hot and clean. Clean hygiene matters a lot for me.
@TheTruthIsRacist no it doesn't.
Crazy how the best SNL sketches are the least viewed. This would go viral if today.
Jesse Osher or get the show to issue an apology.

I lost it when Sandler was in his underwear.

He's got a nice ass
Me too!!😂😂😂😂
In a speedo no less lol!
OMG I lost it when he starts licking her face at 2:32 HAHA!!! Kirstie Alley is one tough, professional actress to handle all that saliva on her face HAHA!!!
Notice, though, that she shied away from Deuce Bigalow.
Amazing. Bellissima!
I remember my friends and I yelling this to Sandler when he was still doing colleges between seasons. He cracked up and lost his train of thought for a couple of seconds.
Farley’s so out of place with his Italian accent that it just makes it even funnier.
Incredible…this is better then anything SNL has created in the past decade

William Shaw the Scientology really screwed her up

It wasn’t until I was much older that I got the last “Greek” joke.
This was a wonderful era of SNL.
I’ll always cherish it.
Same here watched it live. Laughed so hard
How could we have known at the time, we were watching comedy royalty to be
I was "today" years old when I got the "Greek" joke at the end. LOL
Can you explain the greek Joke to me. Is this an innuendo that greeks are also touchy to the women like the Italians. Or is it about the joke that the Greek are the "inventors" of gayness and would adore the man?
@@tontobuzz
No, the joke is that the term “Greek” is slang for hmm...how shall I put it.
It’s slang for a sexual act where the man put his you know what in the “backside”.
(I don’t wanna get in trouble with TH-cam. Haha)
So, the joke is that the husband is about to take the wife to a place that may be far more sexual than the Italian restaurant that they’re leaving from.
But your interpretation is something I didn’t really think about.
If that’s the case, the joke works on two levels.
Maybe Kevin Nealon the husband, knows that it’s his turn at the Greek restaurant!
😂
@@vijaynair2403 hahaha I see what you mean.
You are right, so the joke seems to work on several levels.

This is basically Andrew Cuomo’s defense.
THE single FUNNIEST comedy skit EVER, and, yes, Kirstie Ally absolutely made it possible!
One of the funniest sketches of SNL history hands down. Sexual harassment on steroids in 2019 but it was hilarious in 1991. Kirstie Ally was clearly enjoying herself on this skit
"It's just their custom". Lol
That is why its not creepy, she was going along with it and her husband was the one getting upset. If it was the other way around, this would differently be creepy.
IN**** this skit, not on this skit.
I'll let you in on a little secret... women didn't like to be sexually harassed in 1991 or 1891 or 1191 or years 0. Or any year in between. Most women/girls, all throughout history, haven't wanted, needed, or asked to be sexually harassed, assaulted, or raped.
I believe women and girls still feel this way, to this very day.
The reason people think it's funny is because women didn't have a voice until they had to fight for one. Women were told they were too sensitive and inferior when jokes were made about women by comedians, on television, and in movies. Positions of power play an important role in this $hit.
And Now You Know ...........
All-time skit! Thank you Kirstie!
I miss those SNL days!! I am so glad I watched those guys come up!
When Rob Schneider walks out when no pants on was Lol.
Adam Sandler entrance on this one is so fuckin funny. Has never watered down even after 30 years. This is one of the greatest sketches in the shows history.
and to this day I still will joke w friends..."carpaccio no good"?
Sincere condolences. May she rest in peace 🙏..
One of the best SNL skits of all time - always thought was probably based on the writers real restaurant experience of waiters being too familiar with their dates.
That’s what they said on the Fly on the Wall podcast, as Sandler and cast started making money in SNL, he and Rob got dates and took them to little Italy where the waiters and staff “knew” the girls a little too well, or it seemed. I came back here to revisit the episode that I remembered watching!
I remember seeing this live when I was 14 or 15 back in the day and as an Italian American I found this.....absolutely hilarious 😄
I also remember seeing this skit live on tv and me and my dad Michael busting out laughing it was so hilarious!
Chris Farley screaming through the window was hilarious 😂

1:48 when Sandler comes out some dude is dying 😂😂😂😂
RIP Kirstie Alley. This was some funny shit.
She said that this was her fav skit .
The premise in this sketch is brilliant and the execution is even better. Dana just brings it to life; Nealon is a great straight man; subtler glances at cue cards as compared to today's cast. I think the current cast is comprised of really funny people, but there's this lack of cohesive vision and originality in what's being written. Look at the cast members here- they all compliment each other and there seems to be a real chemistry. I know they can't all be home runs, but jesus, this season has been rough.
The current cast seems to have fear. I feel like some of the best ones, like Kate McKinnon, are being held back. Too much lame writing, and not enough improv.
SNL is So. BAD. NOW
