Mussy and half the Vale team were playing for Genoa, only the Tin man turned up for us. The mad thing about this is that we played Genoa in a friendly at Vale park and we beat them, i can't remember the score though, Genoa did a tour of the UK playing friendly matches with quite a few UK teams most of them from higher leagues than us and we were the only club that beat them.
I was at that friendly, they’d only play us if we secured promotion, and we did at the Goldstone, ... I was there. Thing iz, I can’t remember the score on the friendly, I thought we lost. I’d been in the Leopard.

Lo stesso Scoglio incoraggiava i suoi ragazzi trasmettendogli coraggio e dicendogli che erano forti. Anche se erano meno forti degli altri. Vista in diretta a casa di mia nonna materna, mentre mangiavo una coppetta di budino con biscotti (inzuppati di rhum), delizioso ed indimenticabile. 🍮 Ero in 2a liceo e mi è rimasto un ricordo molto suggestivo di quella situazione. Mia madre era pure tifosa del Genoa.
@@astrocla Era in Serie B, dopo la retrocessione allo spareggio col Padova (disputato a Firenze il 10/06/1995). Altro che Coppa Uefa... e ci ha messo parecchi anni a risalire in Serie A.
Mi scuso, ho visto Ruotolo e mi sono confuso. Cmq quel Genoa di branco, signorini, Aguilera che sbsnco Liverpool me lo ricordo con piacere da sportivo. Non sono genoano.
Loved this competition. My personal highlight of the Anglo Italian cup was seeing Gheorghe Hagi warming up as an unused sub for Brescia at Ayresome Park.
Che palle però, io sono nato nel Dicembre del 96, quindi non solo la mia infanzia è coincisa con gli anni più bui dell'esistenza del Genoa ma non ho nemmeno fatto in tempo a "vivere" la vittoria di questo torneo che è stato l'ultimo trofeo vinto dal Genoa (e da una delle due genovesi in generale) nella sua storia. Nonostante tutto sono orgoglioso di essere Genoano.
