My dad was really into running his whole life. I ran track and cross country in high school, but didn't pursue it afterwards. The three movies you mentioned are all really good. I would recommend the movie Finish Line with Josh Brolin if you haven't seen it. It is kind of tough to find though.

My dad was always into running his whole life too. But now he doesn’t really run anymore. I looked into that movie Finish Line. I’ll find a way to check it out. I’ll probably try and watch it this week. Maybe tonight if I have time. Thanks for the recommendation.

Great video!! I love that you still have a desire to do something that it so physically demanding. Even when your body is screaming for you to stop, your heart and mind are telling it you got this and to push through. I absolutely meant that I'd pit for you!! I think it'd be so cool!!

Thanks Fish. Running is such a mental thing. We’re all capable of so much more than our bodies think we are.

Great video. Man, the feeling of crossing a finish line after a hard race is so amazing. Loved hearing you talk about your story. So many people will never experience the epic highs, or the lows of pushing themselves as hard as you have. I'm currently nursing an achilles and havent been able to run, it's hard and a bit depressing for me at the moment lol. Hope to someday meet up for a run though. Maybe you can put me through my first OCR.

Thanks brother! I think that’s the beauty of running. It can be so humbling. It’s never easy. And you get to find out just how much your capable of.
I didn’t realize you were dealing with another injury man. That sucks. It’s always the nagging injuries. Hopefully that heals up soon.
And I would absolutely love to run an OCR with you sometime. We’ll definitely make it happen eventually.

That's awesome man! Some of those pictures looks like Bob in beast mode! Love it! I used to run a lot more when I was younger and getting back into shape. I remember getting my first marathon under 4 hours and what a mixed emotional/physical experience that was. Now I mix in a lot more of a rowing machine to take it easy on my knees. For things I get passionate about, it would have to be traveling with my family. I absolutely loved seeing the look on my kids' faces when they got to experience a new place for the first time. Now my wife and I are almost empty nesters. Time flies.

Thanks a ton for taking the time to drop a comment Corey. The rowing machine is a great way to train cardio without the beating on the knees. I remember experiencing all of the vacations and trips with my family as a kid. They’re great memories. I’m glad you have stuff you’re super passionate about. I’m sure you’ll enjoy the freedom and quiet once it’s just you and your wife. Enjoy that time.

Great video. It’s awesome to see how passionate you are about running. Congrats on all your accomplishments. I injured both of my ankles in the Air Force from running so I don’t run very much anymore but I do enjoy walking around my neighborhood.

That is super awesome… especially your relationship with your dad. I ran cross country my freshman year until I found out I had a trick knee… not the medical term. But pops out of place unexpectedly and often when stressed. Colorado you wouldn’t elevation be a factor you would need to training Colorado or find higher elevations near you in Chicago? We have mountains in eastern KENTUCKY you can train on.

Only running I did was the required mile or 1.5 mile runs in middle school 90 years ago. I think I gotta go back to some sort of cardio routine because I'm getting doughy.

Excellent video, Bob! I got into running when I was 26. I've never competed but I was planning on running a marathon a few years ago. I was running with a friend and 2 months before the planned marathon, we were doing sprints one morning and unfortunately a few hours later I had some discomfort in my groin. Turns out I had a hernia that required surgery. I haven't run consistently since.
Each time I run I end up with discomfort somewhere and it prevents me from continuing to run. I warm up and stretch afterwards but for some reason I always end up with achilles or knee pain. Do you have any warm up or cool down routines you would recommend?
I still workout and love it but I miss running.

    • @bobsblurays
      @bobsblurays  ปีที่แล้ว +1

Thank you for watching. I’m sorry you’ve had to deal with injuries. I can really relate to a lot of what you said. I’ve dealt with pain pretty much everywhere on my body.
Warming up and cooling down is super important. And I’m guilty of sometimes cutting that short. It takes discipline to do it consistently. For a warm up I love doing dynamic stretches. I save static stretching for after my runs or races. I also uses the foam roller and a massage gun. It helps warm up the muscles and get me loose. Before runs I try to walk a little, I swing my legs back and forth and side to side. I do butt kicks and high knees. Plus all the foam rolling and massage gun. After the runs I like to do my static stretching. And I sometimes use the massage gun after as well. I hope some of this helps.
      Thanks again for watching.
