    Build a custom Zwift workout with that smooth warm up then a rest period then a free ride two minutes.

    Fantastic result! impressive stuff. I'm going to give it a go after watching that but my numbers are much lower (FTP etc). The Tempus Fugit course is a good one for efforts like this. Its pan flat. I'm guessing he used "Song 2" by Blur. It's 2 minutes long .......and a great song! Cheers Mark

    Liked it. Nicely done. I'm an old un about 78kg and might try and either do 400 for two minutes or 590 for, well, probably 45 seconds

    Finally got round to this (outside). I’m a lot smaller than you but managed exactly 7.00 wkg for the two minutes (and nearly took a kom off tejvan pettinger in the process - 2013 British hilly climb champion). 470w in absolute

    You can press A to "put the brakes" on your bike in zwift to stop quicker :) Great video!

      To be fair - that sounds mad high anyway! When you think of arm size V leg size........some people cant get 500w from their legs!

    Mark... that's a seriously impressive effort, slightly above average ? I suspect way above average... baring in mind Filippo Ganna is the absolute best in the world at what he does, by some margin. World TT champion, world record holder for the individual 4km pursuit (4mins 1 sec) all round cycling superstar

    Solid effort, given 14s of freewheeling, your avg was likely quite a bit higher! You can see the exact data by looking at the critical power curve tab, or uoading to strava and seeing the power curve there/selecting a range in the analysis tab.
    Quick maffs would estimate your 2 min average to be around 560w, which would make sense given the first minute being around 630-650w and the second minute 450-470w.
    And just for fun, Filippo Ganna used to have his FTP public on strava and reported 495w 🤮

    That is pretty epic. That's a tough effort!!! Those numbers would keep you in the front of a pretty tough flat A grade zwift race too, if you could then recover a bit and hold wheels. Actually, your first 30 seconds would probably see you off the front of most A grade flat races. As an interesting video idea, maybe try an A grade Zwift race. Something flat and short, like an 8k "crit crusher". They are super fun. I think you'll be surprised at how well you go. Maybe you don't win it but I don't think you'd get dropped.

    Mark, apart of your great effort, you should know that Filippo Ganna can generate much better figures than presented at the start of your video :) . He is a real beast, noone is riding better time trial stages than him.

    Quick maths: If you did 505 W average in 134 seconds, you could multiply the seconds with the watts and divide that by the seconds you actually ran (we assume that the entire 14 seconds at the end were at exactly 0W) and you get this: (134 seconds x 505 watts)/120 seconds ≈ 564 W. Thats is staggering

    Very impressive, even regardless of your weight that’s still a huge amount of power to be putting out - 2 minutes is really tough, right on the border of anaerobic/aerobic energy system usage.
    If you want to see how much your wattage was over two minutes you can sync the ride into a platform such as TrainingPeaks, intervals.icu or GoldenCheetah and it will tell you the 2minute peak power.

    Imagine those pectoral gains after a 1hr tree hugging session. Also, you should look at the critical power curve and you get your proper 2 min average instead of your 2:14 avg.

      @Mark Lewis I said the exact same thing on his teaser post earlier! I recently completed a critical power test during an exercise physiology course in university - 2 mins of suffering followed by 90 mins of feeling absolutely disgusting. Gives you a really detailed power curve that levels off into an asymptote. The area under the curve is your W' - aka your anaerobic energy reserve/work doable above CP, whereas the asymptote is your critical power - or a power output you can sustain for ~ 20 mins.

      @@MarkLewisfitness W' or watt prime, your anaerobic reserve in kJ. if you know your ftp say 330W, your watt prime would be (505 -330w) x 120s kJ = 21000kJ. ( the 120s is based on the 2 minute effort at 505, which you were in fact a bit stronger on so say 520..... giving 22800kJs if your ftp is 330. Which is pretty huge!!! ..... more importantly .... above average!

    I have the opposite "power curve" - as illustrated by the Coggin Power Table, for 5s power I rank "untrained" which is the worst result. However, for FT power I rank "Cat 3" which isn't bad for someone in his 50's. So, I found it really interesting to see how a pure sprinter did at 2m. 2m isn't a sprint, it should be long enough that I do "ok" - my wattage was 415W for 2m. About 5.2 w/kg for 2m. As for real world crit racing I suspect you'd do quite good. Real world in a crit race, I cannot - the lack of sprint makes it impossible. IRL, the only thing I can do OK at is a time trial.

    After about two months on Zwift and a cat. A rider I average 428 watts over 20 minutes. 500 watts over 5 minutes. 626 watts over 1 minute. I need to try this out also.

    I must have a problem....I have been subscribed to both you guys [@Chris Pritchard's Cycling Hub] for a long time.....The numbers are very good. not too sure about mine....but I did do 10x Alpe d Zwift [no stopping] the other day and cranked 400w for the last minute of that effort....at 52yo

    Very good efforts and power. However for me biking is about a number of qualities such as maintaining that power for 3-4 hrs and climbing hills. At 65 yrs old, i beat most people 20 yrs younger, Not a fan of pure power but rather fitness levels overall.

    You are faster than that guy on a a tt course. You averaged about 48km/h. The difference in weight only accounts for 14 watts at tue same speed on a flat course. Watts/kg means very little in tt.

    Terrific effort Mark! You can hit "A" to slow the bike more quickly. Looking through my power curve on Strava, it looks like 420 for me at 65kg.

      @@MarkLewisfitness Scary thing is that I get crushed in the A group with others easily doing 8+ w/kg and I'm sitting at 6.5. There's always someone faster, stronger, prettier, richer...it's a humbling sport.

    Great effort Mark. You could definitely do better if you started the effort already at your preferred cadence, say 90rpm. Also, you went way too hard at the start. Sadly cycling power is next to irrelevant without the weight column. I did mine. 2mins 440w 62kg, so 7w/kg. That's reasonable. 8w/kg is good for 2min. 9w/kg is very good and 10w/kg and above is world class.

      INdeed - but I was trying to mirrow how Chris did his.....and I get watts/kg.....but at 65kg and 2m tall I'd look like a zombie and my wife would leave me so I'd have other things to worry about that bike power 😂

      Thats doesnt really help for a simple wattage test on a route with hills - I'd be up and down the gears!

    593 watts @ 85kg for 2 mins is my best and 846 watts @85kg for 1 min this year . It’s a killer for sure those 2 min efforts.

    After you save the Zwift workout you can use a few tools to analyze the performance and see the average watts of the whole 2':00"
    A few tools may be the same Zwiftpower site (download the activity from your profile and then drop it on the Analize page), or Strava or intervals.icu or even you can click on the graph in the Zwift screen and see.
    Anyway, nice shot!
