How do you organize centers?

Doesn't using the motivated and probably more advanced students to instruct (play teacher) the less advanced slow down the progress of those that should be moving ahead. Kind of like a mother who depends on a child to raise their sibling?

This is absolutely not how I do this. Our students who teach others further cement their knowledge of the content - no matter that level they’re at. Our students learn from each other more than they learn from us. Having students work together doesn’t mean that “less advanced” ones reply on “more advanced” once. They collaborate, share what they know, and everyone grows.
