I'm with Sam on this. I kept expecting a punch line due to the comedic nature of content from you guys, but we never got one (unless you include the post credit sequence). This isn't a criticism either, it felt refreshing, and the expectation served to augment the experience. The subtle use of music towards the end, and the claustrophobic closing shot really sealed the deal as we turned a corner and I realised this wasn't as much a skit, as a surreal emotional piece - this was really, really good. Thanks guys, please keep it up.
All info on the Card: - It can be played for 2 or 3 mana, as Cameron taps 2 mana sources to pay for it. - It is a part of a loop, which is powerful, but more a synergy than a Combo - It is NOT from M19 - It was viable in constructed for a short period. - It is kinda relevant in Commander. - It has enough text to be misread - It was questioned if it works with purple mana, meaning that either the card is based on mana colors, or purple mana works completely different. - It is not first pickable in its draft format. -There is a glimpse of a mountain during the deckbuilding scene -It is more of a sideboard card in Draft. -When Graham looks through the trade binder, the other cards are multicolored, meaning the card is most likely either multicolored or colorless. -Grahams Commander deck can be seen containing islands at 06:00 -When playing Commander, Graham seemingly taps out to cast the card, meaning it most likely has X in its casting cost (or has multikicker) as Cameron cast it for much less earlier. - The card is dependant on the current boardstate to be effective. -Neither Graham or Cameron casts it in response to something, but play it as soon as it is drawn. -At 06:06 A mountain can be seen in orange sleeves, Grahams sleeve color. -It CAN be countered. EDIT: -The Card is a common. The only cards I can think of that fits the mana based requirements are Epic Experiment and Everflowing Chalice, but they both have issues with other requirements, especially the common in the pack. Unfortunately the card probably doesn't actually exist :(
It doesn't actually have to be common! If they're drafting Battleborn or have japanese packs for the draft (which could help it be misread) then it could be a rare or mythic!
I've watched this 5 times already. It's a masterpiece. Especially the melancholy music when the card makes it way into a storage box. The slow drag of the cards in front sealing it in it's coffin. The card circle of life. Loved it.
HOLY crap! Theory: "The Incident" at 5:16 is referring to Alex rotating out of standard in Lockdown! Evidence as thusly: 1. It's obvious this video has time skips. It's possible then that this scene takes place AFTER Lockdown. 2. The only 2 people present for Alex's escape from the meta were Paul and Kathleen. 3. Paul's "no, that seemed more... permanent" would make sense in context. New headcanon achieved.
This was a surprisingly touching episode, and I'm left with a feeling of wistfulness...but mostly my brain is still going HOLY CRAP BAXTER THE CAT IS HUGE
HOW DARE YOU MAKE ME CRY MY OWN TEARS! But in all seriousness, this is one of my favorite shorts of all time. Not my favorite MtG related short. My favorite short, full stop. A clever and almost obvious use of first person camera, tight and sophisticated dialogue, wonderful transitions. This short is nothing short of phenomenal. You absolutely nailed it.
I love Friday nights but I miss the older longer episodes. The quality is better now and the ideas are creative but the gp episodes remind me of travelling with my buds and the theros saga was great
Honestly the acting, production and writing quality is way better, they started out well but you can see they've progressed as creators, I just miss the longer episodes, and the multipart stories. I genuinely b believe that lrr could make a great, 20 minute show about b magic every b month and a great 20 minute ep of CH as well. They're done if the best content creators on yt. 8 minutes is just a bit of a let down.
This was really touching. You asked if the cards feel and the proceeded to walk us through various scenarios. In each one I was happy to be sleeved and put into a deck or disappointed to be told I was useless in a particular deck. I was happy when someone was pleased to draw me, but a bit put down when I was dismissively put away or otherwise tucked out of sight. This was a beautiful piece. Thanks for making it.
YOOOO! I just rewatched this and realized that THIS WAS FORESHADOWING! Ben mentions Alex's INCIDENT! And Paul and Kathleen are there! Like when Alex planeswalks/dies/rotates out of standard in FN:Lockdown!
Watching this was amazing. I don't even play magic and I was so invested in the trials of this mystery card it was crazy. The camera work was incredible and I don't know, but this is definitely my favorite Friday Nights ever. EVERRRRRR.
I love whenever a new Friday Nights comes out. I enjoy pausing the video everytime to see what everyone's Planeswalker abilities are. They are always so funny.
i don't really like the eclipses, they fold easily, your cards slip out of them slowly as you shuffle them and they get very dirty on the sides. dragonshields for me.
This was amazing! It honestly felt like a a short film you would see at a festival or something. It was funny, sad and artistic in a way that we don't often see in the MTG community. Keep up the good work!
Oh I know, it's just something I find funny since it's what I did the first time I watched a Let's Nope without Graham and Ben sitting there, not knowing he was big from the Desert Bus for Hope.
Wait, I just realized something. When Ben and Kathleen are looking through Kathleen's trade binder, he offhandedly mentions Alex and "the incident". Were they already foreshadowing that Alex was going to leave Friday nights?
This episode was great! The life of a card...the glorious highs...the bittersweet lows...and the "Incident," after which I imagine ne'er shall Friday Nights see Alex again.
Probably the best video I have seen on this channel and I don't mean it in bad way, I really enjoy your videos, but this... This was on totally different level.
So it's probably blue or red, it's a common (as far as I can tell), it's in Core Set 2019... I have no idea what it could be. More likely that it's not a specific card at all.
I think it is specifically not in core set 2019 (1:10) suggests to me this is an older set that they are drafting, I also assume it is neither Blue nor Black as Cam was being cut on probably those colours by Kathleen (1:47), land at 2:37 appears to be Dominaria but that might and probably means nothing as this would just be from their general land supply.
Amber Mox as a Mythic would be in the back of the pack, but this card saw the plastic wrapping being pulled off (as well as other cards behind it). It must be a common. Ornithopter?

I don't know how to describe what I feel right now. This episode was so poignant, so emotionally strong, that I'm feeling both sadness and catharsis at the same time. I relate to the card in this episode very much, to be honest - never really anyone's first choice except for fringe circumstances - and something about seeing my feelings put almost verbatim into video form was amazingly profound and moving.
Alternate title: "Cardhood". I was so happy when our little friend got sleeved! I only wish that they were able to be part of a crazy run to some GP or something. And now we know that cards go to sleep when they're put face down or covered.
No, you can’t do this! The feels! :’o As someone who invests way to much emotionally into all my cards, this video was agonizing... But, I really liked it, I think it might be my new, favorite Friday Nights video!
this was surreal and a bit poignant. I really loved it.
I'd encourage you all to keep exploring this space.

I agree, expecting a comedic skit I was far from disappointed in the arthouse-esqué piece I ended up watching :)
You guys rock!
Rhystic Studies I concur, really excellent work by LRR. They have really done some super cool things in the last year of FNs.
i completely agree
I'm glad I wasn't alone here. Great stuff! It will go down as one of my favorites
This was one of the highest concept and best shot episodes to date. Beautiful job, LRR crew, beautiful job.
Agreed. I really liked this episode a lot.

The most topical thing here was that commander players will trade anything for foil basics
You didn't have to call me out like that 😅😂😂

Wavingatfat is it confirmed to be before or after M19?
Scrap Trawler maybe? Well they had to use one card, how else could they make a movie from its perspective?
It doesn't actually have to be common! If they're drafting Battleborn or have japanese packs for the draft (which could help it be misread) then it could be a rare or mythic!
My guess is that it's a Japanese version of Joraga Warcaller.
I would say Bonfire of the Damned, except for the 'demonstrating a loop' part.
I still love that stinger with Graham's dad, always makes me smile how much they supported his dreams
That after credit scene though!
I love how the tag puts that hope back into it at the very end. Very well done!
DesolatorMagic predicted it years ago
Ravnica spoiler, to produce purple tap a blue and red together, U/B/P mill
Yep
Who is that?
That was vertiginous and weirdly tragic. I can't wait to see the Loading Time.
I had to look that up because, like, I don't have vertigo?
I've watched this 5 times already. It's a masterpiece. Especially the melancholy music when the card makes it way into a storage box. The slow drag of the cards in front sealing it in it's coffin. The card circle of life. Loved it.
I don’t think I’ve ever been more emotionally invested in a magic card ever

I just noticed this myself and it blew my mind lol. Well played LRR.
I thought it had something to do with Squee repeatedly coming back to his deckbox
And you can see Kathleen's reaction to further confirm it.
The ageing makeup on Graham in the stinger is on point! He looks so much like his dad with it on. ;P
...that was his dad
...that was the joke.
I just realized that this episode foreshadowed Alex's departure three episodes from now
This was a surprisingly touching episode, and I'm left with a feeling of wistfulness...but mostly my brain is still going HOLY CRAP BAXTER THE CAT IS HUGE

The Episode was surprisingly depressing... Great Episode, but... I don't know... Can't artigulate a feeling, I feel wierd now
Welcome to your very first existential crisis!
Yeah this was a moving video. But in a such an odd way. Makes me think about my few cards I have left. Maybe they should be in a frame somewhere
you can't even articulate the word articulate
@@TomBerryBW I was really shocked :D
Ah, the Toy Story effect
My favorite episode is quite a while. A really unique concept executed quite well.
Well done! Best written Friday Nights for a while, unexpected emotions always a plus. Very nice camera work as well. Great job, guys! New favorite.
This was really original!! Loved it!!
Rewatched this after watching Lockdown. We now know what the "incident" was.
I'm saddened to know that Alex's situation is more permanent
HANDS DOWN one of my favourite episodes. So much so that I came back to watch it again half a year later

Love that you guys are using this medium to do some really fun and creative stuff! Friday nights is my favourite thing about magic 💖
that was genius, especially the end scene.
Watching this was amazing. I don't even play magic and I was so invested in the trials of this mystery card it was crazy. The camera work was incredible and I don't know, but this is definitely my favorite Friday Nights ever. EVERRRRRR.
The amount of effort that went into this.
I love whenever a new Friday Nights comes out. I enjoy pausing the video everytime to see what everyone's Planeswalker abilities are. They are always so funny.
The line about Alex and The Incident is even funnier in retrospect, six months on.
Great episode and great cinematography! This and the single shot episode are my favourite episodes to date. Please keep innovating and exploring.
Completely love this one! Brilliant idea and execution!
This is not only my new favourite friday nights but it is an amazing work of art. Keep up the amazing work guys!
Super imaginative as an episode. I bet this was hell to film
I've never wanted to like a video multiple times this much before!!!! I loved every minute of this!!!!!
The most important question is... how big is that cat?!?!!
Or how SMALL is Kathleen?!
@Camouflagewolf The, the important question: does it trample? Based on my cat experience, I'd say it does.
This camera work is great! Wow what a concept. Makes me feel bad *nostalgically looks at my boxes of cards that havent seen the light of day in years*
Wow, I was sleeved in Ultra Pro Mattes. I must really be a $0.15 trash card.
At least those Eclipses are pretty good
i don't really like the eclipses, they fold easily, your cards slip out of them slowly as you shuffle them and they get very dirty on the sides. dragonshields for me.
This was one of the most original, well thought and witty videos I've seen in a couple of decades. seriously. This is Art

"That Ben guy." lol
He's not a LRR member in this continuity.
Their way of saying, "he used to work here." lol
Oh I know, it's just something I find funny since it's what I did the first time I watched a Let's Nope without Graham and Ben sitting there, not knowing he was big from the Desert Bus for Hope.
Is Ben not a big member? I definitely see plenty of him, I wonder what content its from lol
@@VorpalSmilodon okay if i remember correctly he is a member but this show has it's iwn continuity in which he is not a member
Loved it. This is my new favorite Friday nights video. Thank you for being awesome.
Have you seen the first five minutes of "Lord of War", by any chance?
This was beautifully done.
Legit my favorite movie of all time.
I think that's what they got the inspiration from.
It also reminded me of the Supernatural episode "Baby", shot entirely from the perspective of their car.
I was thinking of that movie as well!!
All the card POV shots were so cool! The way it told the story was so awesome!
I can't decide if Alex or Paul's planeswalker is more powerful.
I'd have to say Paul's because chain veil = complete lock
Turn 1 paul = instant win, just keep countering. Alex's looks more fun though.
Pauls is awesome and just perfect for toro fog or control
Worth mentioning Graham's too, goes infinite with Zndrsplt. Something like...
T1 Plains; T2 Island, exile Simian Spirit Guide, Graham; T3 land, Lab Maniac; T4 land, Mox something, Zndrsplt, +1 and win
Neither. Its grahams. Plus ability just wins a game instantly by itself.
Bravo. The creativity and especially the editing in this one were amazing. Loved it very much!
The camera work was CRAZY
Your most creative episode yet! Incredible! Thanks for keeping so fresh! Bravo!
It was Days Undoing right? I assume Cam ran a Molten Vortex and that was the strat he did have a mountain.
This was bonkers good. The jokes were poignant and smart, and the camerawork was really well executed. Thoroughly impressed!
Did you *become* The Card?
Being The Card *explains* The Card.
This was very creative, I love how you really got the camera to feel like a card. Awesome FNM as always LRR.

When Ben and Kathleen are looking through Kathleen's trade binder, he offhandedly mentions Alex and "the incident".
Were they already foreshadowing that Alex was going to leave Friday nights?
I think they may have been talking about the Squee incident from the Brawl episode.
Such a cool original idea and excellent execution. Also that cat is massive and so fluffy, I want to see more of it.
Loved the post credits scene LOL. Would have been good as well for it to have become a several thousand dollar card after all those years.
This episode was great! The life of a card...the glorious highs...the bittersweet lows...and the "Incident," after which I imagine ne'er shall Friday Nights see Alex again.
Very cool! Though, a little sad. The after credit stinger was great.
I always enjoy friday nights but this one is really really well shot and directed. Amazing concept good acting. Very good episode
"Is that what happened to Alex after the incident?"
This line seems super weird after the recent departure of Alex from Commodore Hustle
Knowing their love for callbacks I wouldn't be surprised if this was their first call forward.
Very cool idea for a Friday Night's episode. I often wonder what all my old cards are doing now since I gave them to a friend prior to moving.
I’m going to give this 5 “wow”s:

Everyone is guessing what card this is but I don't think its even a real card, they just made believable situations around it and used it for jokes
At the same time, it's possible it just happens to include a real card, even by accident. It's a fun hypothetical.
