In my previous video I mentioned it's bested to torque down your control arm bushing bolt AT RIDE HEIGHT. To do that you would use a jack to compress your shock and then torque the bolt. I didn't do that in this video and it wouldn't hurt. The GM procedure doesn't actually mention that as a step, and I have to say I've had no issues by forgetting that step.
I was wondering the same about ride height cuz im only doing both rearward arms so ill be ok if i dont do it ride height or should i do it just double checking with u
Thank you to the cadillac gods👑 i finally found a Caddy brother tht has ALL the info & tips i been needing for my babee ATS. #CaddyLifeStyle Thanks VERY muc for all the videos PS. Save Me 💵 💰
Love all of your videos! Thanks! I noticed that you are using Quick Jacks, NICEEE! I just got some while they were on sale this Christmas. I got the 5000TL's with the hangers and pinch weld blocks and I was wondering which model you got.
Good video man. So I have an 2013 ATS, and I had to do the knuckle on the front of the car.(GM is kinda crazy, on the 2013 ATS the knuckle has an irreplaceable ball joint, so GM makes you replace the knuckle! Yeah don't get me started on GM and their infinite wisdom) So I figured I would do the knuckle, wheel bearing, both control arms and the sway bar links. Was a pretty straight forward job, and with all new parts pretty easy to put together. The CTS look so similiar to work on. So just wanted to ask you how you like the CTS? I'm looking for a newer Cadillac and was looking at the CTS and XTS. Do you have any idea how long the CTS will last mileage wise?
Thanks for watching, good to know about the ball joint. Definitely get the CTS over XTS. The CTS is a bit more sporty. Like a big ATS, XTS is a cushy Cadillac. The 3.6 engines generally need new timing cabins 100-130k miles. Haven’t heard of many engine failures this point.
where was the video when mine was bad lol got it done though good stuff bro. now i need a video on how to change my O2 upstream sensors btw what manual do you use?
Sorry it’s very difficult to diagnose anything in suspension by description. Usually a tuning sound comes from the upper strut mounts. Go put your ear up there with the hood open while someone turns the wheel.
Jeff, I enjoy watching your Cts videos Bro I'm a Cts owner myself. You don't have to torgue that one down to ride height level like you did on the other control arm video? Because I'm ready to do mine and thanks brother for the torque specs , can't find them anywhere!
You know what? You are totally right! I can't believe I forgot that step. I will say I have no issues from missing it, but I think it's a good idea. I'll add it to the top of the comments.
I know this is old... but I have the AWD CTS 4. 2014. The ball joint bolt is seized in the spindle. NOTHING works to get it out, outside of adding heat to the spindle. Ball joint removal tool, pickle fork, heavy hammer hitting... my car is in my garage on jack stands and I can't go any further. ANY help is appreciated.
That’s a tough situation to be in. Someone recommended using the torx hole at the end of the bolt and turning that while keeping the nut on. If yours has a torx hole you can try but I’m betting it will strip out. Impact took may be required. Last choice may be to replace the whole knuckle if you can’t separate. Not a great choice though.
I got a ATS 2.0 and the bushing is cracking already, I don’t have a torque wrench 🔧, doesn’t the ball join need grease on it or is it already in the ball joint itself??
No but it’s a pretty standard outer tie rod. First search for Camaro or ATS, then if nothing you can probably get by with any generic how-to. It’s very simple. The most important part is to adjust it to the right length. You will likely need an alignment after.
You are the luckiest guy in the world... how do none of your ball joints need tools to separate after 85K miles? I had to beat the crap out of my knuckle every time with half those miles.
I miss mt CTS but I'm still subscribed to you because... I miss my CTS.

I was about to mention that lol
Thanks Danial!! I would recommend doing all 4 arms at once, as soon as I did front forward arms the rears wore out quickly
Now this what i call an informative video. Thanks a lot bro. 🔥🔥🔥 #diy
Awesome, appreciate you!
I was wondering the same about ride height cuz im only doing both rearward arms so ill be ok if i dont do it ride height or should i do it just double checking with u
Should technically be torqued at ride height
Amazing breakdown!
Excellent video Daniel!!
Perfect. I was planning to do this come spring.

Mine is 5000 TLX. I’m not sure the 5000 is long enough for the Cadillac?
Can I fit a Camaro to my Cadillac?

My info often comes from AllDatadiy.com
I have a 2018 AWD CTS, my front driver side creaks when I turn the steering wheel left and right. Would that be the lower control arm?
Sorry it’s very difficult to diagnose anything in suspension by description. Usually a tuning sound comes from the upper strut mounts. Go put your ear up there with the hood open while someone turns the wheel.

Looking forward to more Cts videos from you bro, learning a lot from you. Thanks Bro!

The grease is contained in the boot and around the joint inside. If the grease comes out the ball joint will eventually wear out
Trying to replace mine now, my ball joint keeps loosing itself tho. Any clue why?
After driving it it becomes loose? Or you say that everything keeps spinning when you tighten down?
Symptoms please... My ATS is all over the road on bumps at highway speeds .. when riding any speed its perfect until bunps are hit then it gots wonky
Sorry suspension diagnosis is pretty hard without seeing and driving. I would assume control arms somewhere are worn. Have you looked at them?
Quick question do you know where’s the cts v sport tcm located at ?
I believe it can be accessed ahead of the passenger side wheel behind the wheel liner
@@JetFuelOnly thanks so much your the best.
Do you have a video on the tie rod?
No but it’s a pretty standard outer tie rod. First search for Camaro or ATS, then if nothing you can probably get by with any generic how-to. It’s very simple. The most important part is to adjust it to the right length. You will likely need an alignment after.
Around how many miles did you decide to replace? Thanks
The car had about 85k miles
Do you know what tie rod fits the 2014 cts v sport?
For the FE3 supension. When in doubt message the parts warehouses like gmpartsdirect.com
Can you just replace the ball jointing the arm
Probably but it would require more work. These things are so cheap these days it’s easier to buy and do the quick swap
You are the luckiest guy in the world... how do none of your ball joints need tools to separate after 85K miles? I had to beat the crap out of my knuckle every time with half those miles.
I mean I did hammer it… but I live in a place with little rust or corrosion.
Is this any different on a CT6?
Should be the same unless it’s AWD. Should still be close but part numbers are likely different T.
@Jet Fuel Only yes it's awd. Ok and thanks for replying
