As a South African I can tell you a story. I have spent the better part of my adult life as a Paramedic. I have spent literally 1000s of hours saving lives of all races, ages and types. Most of which was done at which "in SAfrica" was the lowest paying professional position worldwide. But this is not a story about me its about my daughter. She was born as the light of my life and like any father I wanted only the best for her. At a very early age I noticed she had an affinity for Animals , dogs in particular. She loved all dogs and some that even I was afraid of by their evil look alone, she would not have any fear at all and would turn them into fluffy teddy bears (in personality of course.) It was like she was a dog whisperer. By the time she was 10 she had taught our dogs a multitude of tricks. By the time she was 13 she was consistently around dogs. She Even went around getting food donations for Dog Shelters in our area where they got to know her even on a first name bases. I remember when she was 14 she I asked her what she wanted to do when she finished school. And she immediately said I want to be a Vet. So I told her she had to excel in the sciences like biology. By the time she was 16 she was excelling at her grades . Now we getting close to her graduation and it was time to prep for university. In South Africa we have an extremely prestigious internationally recognised Veterinary College. That was her first and only choice she wanted to attend. However , to our surprise she was rejected based solely on the fact that their Quota had already been fulfilled and her skin was not dark enough to allow her entrance. She was crushed and along with it her dreams. BEE/affirmative action does not fix , IT DESTROYS. It is reverse Racism. My daughter will now go through the rest of her life knowing she was excluded because she was white..... If you are black and recognise this feeling then you must know. There is no Context where feeling like that is good for anyone. STOP BEE and AFFIRMATIVE ACTION. The only future that is of moral and ethical worth is a NON Racial one.

Too bad, however when universities reject application they normally don't mention the reason why, and is beyond race because you will find lot of non white potential students who get rejected due to limited space availability, many students don't get accepted in their dream choice of study and it not all about race but space availability, however i don't think is wrong to make sure that all race and gender got fair opportunities, what do you think SA should deal with economy legacy of apartheid and colonization?, they should behave like it never exist ?

@@dokotelam7207 Does it mean that Germans are acting like there was no holocaust unless they actually start Gassing Germans. Of Course not. Your Logic is flawed. Transformation is not created by creating an entire new group of disadvantaged people based entirely on their Skin Colour alone. So how do we redress. By returning access to those who were disadvantaged . Or are you of the racist viewpoint that non white people are incapable of success unless whites offer them a helping hand. Especially when whites in SAfrica make up less than 10% of the entire SAfrican Demographic. And yes Space does play a role at the universities and yes dreams are shattered, this is life. Then explain to me how my daughters best friend of many years ( I will add that I am happy for her, as I do see her as part of the family already), who is Non White received an acceptance letter from the exact same college 3 weeks after my daughter received her rejection letter. Keeping in Mind , my daughters grades where better. The Only answer can and is Quotas. Now you may wish to imply that I am a liar as you have already done so. to which I say "I don't care what you think". The Fact of the matter BEE/Affirmative action creates More stories like this and certainly goes absolutely and objectively nowhere, to preventing it.

@@chadblignaut in 1994, 87 % of land was in the hand of less than 10% of white people, you don't need to be smart to see the legacy of race politics will only be deal with if you make make sure that people who were excluded for 350 years by white supremacist policy are given enough space, if you do not have policy that address excluding of black people then you will have same policy as apartheid, what is the percentage of white people you know at dis- chem management vs black people?, I do wonder why some people wanna keep system that always favor white people over black people, the debate is to include black people as well , it does not mean white people do not become part of dis-chem stuff, but make sure that if other race or gender is excluded then they should include them too, few years back SANDF did talk about lack of white people, since the end of apartheid with mandatory of white boys to military, many white boys are choosing another field than SANDF and SANDF did have drive to recruit more white people and when I remember well the majority of black never complain,
University acceptance is not all about Matric results, some also write various selection tests, I don't think you have full evidence that your relative was excluded based on race, that is your conclusions, go to the same University you will find White students doing the same degree that you claim they did exclude base on race,

@@PharmersConsulting you are correct. So refreshing to hear similar opinions and common sense which in today's woke society (which is only a small percentage of society that has a loud, intimidating, guilt tripping, self victimisation culture with strong marxist socialist overtones) is dearly lacking. Much like an empty vessel makes the loudest noise. Our problem in South Africa is that we have an alliancesl government consisting of the South African Communist party, Council of South African Trade Unions and the African National Party who are card carrying communists. BEE is racist legislation which has already been declared to be unconstitutional by the highest court in the land (Pravin Gordan was instructed to come up with better - he just made it worse by doubling down on BEE. To successfully govern a capitalist country one has to promote division in society such as race distinctions, gender dispositions and the like. We desperately need to get rid of the ANC and partners.

The saddest part of all this is the fact that people's worth is based on the skin color and not the skills that they have to offer. Imagine walking into a work environment, with your fellow employees looking at you knowing that you got there because of your color and not your skill or anything else of worth.
Business works and makes a profit based off the skilled people that help run that business. If you chase quota's based on skin color, that business will fall apart, employees out on the street and everyone loses.

To make the Dischem Moratorium even more insulting is that it states that those whites who are in their employ will not be recommended for any promotions. Meaning that those whites re locked in their positions no matter how much they prove that they re worthy for promotion. Who wants to work in those conditions? ....problem is all chain pharmacies are more about profit and not about pharmaceutical care....The fact that this letter is shinning so bright on how Pharmacy is still profession full of racism....' clearly it this letter is like giving a statement of them ' being forced to hire blacks and not whites'. As if pharmacy is not a proffesion of trained proffessionals, all with same degree. Then you do your additional Leadership post grad...Just hire ppl based on their competency and leadership training and skills and stop with undertone racism. They are as much black competent Pharmacist as they are whites....and corporate must stop crying foul.

We really can’t be screaming competence now when the company has clearly been discriminating against blacks in their hiring. By that logic, it means the majority of competent personnel in pharmacy are white and the company must continue doing what it has been doing - hiring more whites because they are more competent? Makes no sense. We are all competent under the same professional body. Otherwise they must introduce a new metric for measuring competence amongst their employees - then we’ll talk about “Dischem competence” and who makes the cut and who doesn’t.
I really don’t see anything wrong with the action they decided to take to correct their actions. After all, black people were the ones discriminated against. Correcting the discrimination is also a problem? Then how do you resolve something like this?

    • @PharmersConsulting
      @PharmersConsulting  ปีที่แล้ว +2

What evidence is there that "they have clearly been discriminating against blacks in their hiring"? Is there a report, a memo, an article that supports this claim? Also - if you are correct, and there is a culture of discrimination, then why does Ivan Salzman and the rest of the executive not retire/resign, and give their positions to those they have discriminated against? Why are new hires targeted?

It's the bigger picture..we fought discrimination, we fought racial barriers, and in 94 we got a south Africa that every one has equal rights regardless of race.
While bbe...is somewhat discrimination....it is supposed to be a temporary practice to allow the previously disadvantaged to gain a foothold in the labour sector...
Now while bbe has been a disaster in government entities...thanks to cardre deployment ....the private sector has produced some brilliant black industry leaders...which we definitely need more off...but that aside to exclude an entire race..is racism in its purists form.....as some one who is vehemently opposed to racism in any form...I dont see how we can justify a current injustice because of a past one..our patriotic duties as South Africans , is to oppose all injustice, regardless of the skin color of the person its being committed against

As wrong as this decrimination against white people is ... Not one positive thing is said about Black people in this video. I feel you painting professionals of other races that aren't white as incompetent and hired on nepotism in pharmacy. Defend the white but not on the expense professionals that are not white.
Black people get distinctions and graduate cum laude too. This video is not helping this discrimination problem because as much as you feel like you're addressing the unfairness , you also unfair in assuming so many negative things about blacks . They are also excellence as much as you feel white people are. Both Black and white qualified pharmacists/PA are deemed competent by the same professional council. Most important no sector is for certain people or isn't for certain people if you are qualified and certified competent than the person deserves to be there. Justice would be to increase the quota greatly. Not ban completely. I think intention is good but method is clunky. Same with BBBee. Also for how long .... 30 years later and has it helped? How much longer do we need to compensate for?

@@PharmersConsulting BBEee is different in pharmacy cause its a proffession, yall mean to tell me black pharmacist ( which there is a number of them in Africa) are not hired in dischem cause they are incompetent...if not, them why dont they meet amployment equity requirements...So coroporate is still the hiring based on colour and not compliance and then we also say they must not forced be forced with BEE...what must happened to competent black pharmacist, continue being sidelined even if thy want ti work in retail, in the same breath thes pharmacy retail chains are allowed to be everywhere so they even kill small community pharmacies....This is all undertone racism, thus whole story...we mustnt see colour when blacks we not hired but see colour when its now done to whites who have been on advantage in SA
And 30yrs is very short time to say we can eradicate BEE, its just need to be monitored because it can be missuse sometimes bu Phrm is a profession and ppl that are there all qualified but we all not also come from similar backgrounds...its a lot of factors that ppl chose to keep a blind eye on if its not affecting them.Pharmacy positions still require Afrikaans to be hired in some positions when English is an official language, is that not exclusion....why r we then not adding all 9 languages....yoh akenime, racism is too much in Pharmacy proffession especially on private sectr and we all know it.
