I can’t believe it. I JUST CAN’T! You are lately covering all my personal favourites one after another! I don’t know how many times I have sung this song since I first watched "Tous les matins du monde", many many years ago. It is thanks to that movie that I knew this piece, and also Jordi Savall, who is a true legend and a personal inspiration to me, a real wise man of old who seems to have been born in the wrong era - and with whom I’m certain you are familiar too. About your performance, what can I say? For a piece that I have listened to so many times, you managed to surprise me. I love the small, nuanced differences from other versions that make this rendition so unique. In a way, it feels less mournful… no, not less mournful, but not so overtly emotional or intense, maybe. It is a quieter melancholy, less passionate, but more thoughtful and austere, almost resigned, to which the stark and “rooted”, more staccato sound of the lute - compared to a viol or cello - contributes greatly. I believe this is very fitting to the theme of repression and restrained feelings of the song, and Anneliina’s voice is a GREAT choice precisely for this - the clarity and purity of her timbre makes her sound otherworldly sometimes, more spirit than flesh. And Anni is so photogenic! She totally looks like a Pre-Raphaelite maiden, very Lady-of-the-Lake-ish. She has such a strong, stoic presence for someone of such young age. I wonder who she got it from… 🤔🤣 Thanks a lot for this, from the bottom of my heart! You are such a great joy, a small but inextinguishable light in the dark.
@@ilbiancofiore Aw, thank you so much for the kind words! I have spent a lot of time trying to better my writing skills - in Spanish, mind you, since English is only my third language - so as to be able to convey what I couldn't say in person; I am terribly shy in real life, even if my elaborate comments would seem to contradict that. I'm also a man of very deep feelings (too deep, sometimes) and I really love to give words of appreciation, encouragement, and kindness to good people who I find moving and beautiful for one reason or another. The world can be such a dark and discompassionate place sometimes, so I just do what I can to make it a tiny bit warmer. But it is these gorgeous artists who inspire my words and deserve all the credit!
Thank you! Once again, you hold up a mirror to us, without which we would be sailing in a void. But this mirror is one that also gently steers our way and encourages development into particular directions ;)
Francesc, your own compassion and kindness shine brightly through every word in every comment! What delights us even more is that increasingly other viewers also see that and comment on that, like in this video. You’ve transcended the role of viewer and have become a guide and contributor.
@@TurkuEarlyMusic And you don’t know how proud that makes me feel. Thank you for being so considerate, really. This channel feels like a tiny, sacred, precious haven of respite and comfort, and I am happy to participate in any way, no matter how small.
Maravilhoso tocador de alaúde e voz maravilhosa!

What a lovely comment. All the things I would say, if I were as articulate as you are.
