As a Bears fan of 40 years, my biggest gripe about this whole situation is that the Bears never seem to put it all together. There have been a lot of years where the defense and even special teams have carried the Bears. There have been a very few years where the offense has been actually decent. Other than that, it's been below mediocrity for a long time. This decision to trade Fields after acquiring everything he has not had at the same time since he's been in Chicago, is such a Chicago thing to do. Now, we have to hope AGAIN that the Bears are not making another franchise stifling decision with whoever they draft for QB. 40 years of mostly crap makes you fairly cynical.

Bears showed extreme faith in Fields last year by trading away the #1 pick and not drafting a QB. On top, they traded for a top tier #1 WR DJ Moore and drafted the best O-Lineman in the draft Wright. They gave Fields a chance to show something. He bombed. He’s not a good QB. The clip was also out of place in the conversation. Because kelce didn't have a strong (off fld) relationship with the QB that came before Mahomes, like DJ had with Justin. As a die hard Bears fan they were put in a tough position where half of the scenarios are probably going to cost the GM and coach their jobs.
    1. Keep Fields trade the #1 pick, Fields doesn't improve and Williams ends up being a great NFL QB
    2. Trade Fields and draft Williams, Fields blossoms somewhere else and Williams doesn't turn out to be the guy either
    3. Keep Fields and trade the pick, Fields turns the corner, you have a bunch more picks and Williams does or doesn't do well
    4. Draft Williams and he does well, Fields steps up with his new team and improves them
I personally, was leaning toward keeping Fields, accumulating picks, and if it didn't work out this year, use them to make a move to try to trade for a vet or up in the draft to get a QB next year. However, I'm not getting paid millions of dollars a year to evaluate these kind of things and make these decisions so I'll put my faith in those who are. As a fan though, I still reserve the right to call them morons if, three years from now, it turns out they made the wrong call as, historically, the Bears generally have always done when it comes to QBs.

The worst part of this is the Bears threw Fields to the wolves for 2 years, he flashed unique ability, did not complain, showed unbelievable toughness and leadership(went straight to the podium after the CLE catastrophe in ‘21). Bears finally give him 1 bona fide weapon in DJ Moore, who not only had a career year, his connection with Fields LEAD THE LEAGUE with a passer rating of 146. Fields is clearly ascending…the last 20 games, his stats are basically the SAME AS LAMAR’S!! The Bears FINALLY BUILD AN OFFENSE, and they toss Fields aside for NOTHING!! He never gets the chance to do what you saw @OSU! Based on what he did with no help, with this roster, he would have been ELITE! And now, the Bears are rolling the dice with a rookie QB, who’s NEVER PLAYED IN THE LEAGUE???

    • @AdamB34
      @AdamB34 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      1. He didn't complain? He literally very publicly said "they wanted me to work on staying in the pocket during the off season. But I want to extend plays, get out of the pocket. I'm just going to play my game next week. Go out there and play how I want to play".... he literally said he's going to ignore the coaches and play how he wants.
      2. What unique ability did he flash? He was a bottom 5-10 passer with a few flashy runs. That's not unique, we've seen that for decades now.
      3. Dj Moore had a career year because of his ability to run after the catch. He set a career high in yards after catch but had the 2nd lowest yards before catch of his last 5 years. He was taking short passes from Fields and turning them into bigger gains on his own.
      4. They had such a high passer rating between them because they were throwing short, easy passes to Moore lol. Again, he had the 2nd lowest yards before catch of his last 5 years. Fields Air Yards Per Attempt while targeting Moore was near the bottom of the league.
      5. His stats in his last 20 games are absolutely not "basically the same" as Lamar's lol
Last year alone Lamar completed 67.2% of his passes for 3,678 yards, 24 pass tds, 7 ints and a 102.7 passer rating in 16 games. Fields has 3,284 pass yards, 26 pass tds and 14 ints in his last 20 games with a passer rating and completion% that are significantly lower than Lamar's.
      6. Fields is ascending? He regressed in every rushing category this year and put up nearly identical passing numbers as 2022.
Lastly... Williams hasn't played in the league, but Fields has he's been terrible the entire time. You seem pretty confused

I'm surprised that the Bears settled for such a weak trade return but trading Fields made sense. Fields had three years. How many great quarterbacks currently playing do you know of who couldn't lead their team to a playoff spot within the first three years? You know who took until year four? I'll say it one last time nobody could have done better than Justin fields in the very first year 2022 polls got rid of 15x by the time roquan Smith was traded he got rid of four starting offensive lineman he got rid of five of six wide receivers only Darnell Mooney came back the entire front seven on defense was gone and all the backups on offense and defense who are not on rookie contracts the defense during our 14 game losing streak gave up 33 points a game nobody could have done better than fields and the thing that I give him the most credit for he never bitched her complained

I don't have it in my heart to be hopeful. I wanted Justin Fields to be my quarterback. I don't trust that Williams is all that good. And moreover, I feel like Williams is always going to be in it for himself and his Father, not for the Bears or Chicago. Time to Bear down for another rough half a decade.

As a former quarterback there's absolutely no way I would ever play for a Bears franchise, one of the oldest in NFL history, that historically has had only one truly great quarterback and that was Sid Luckman who retired way back in 1950 and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1965

Not even a Bears fan but just from looking at Justin when he was in Chicago, it definitely felt like he was stifled and screwed over by the Bears incompetence as a whole.
He didn’t have an offensive line worth a damn to protect him, only one receiver he could get bailed out by and a nonexistent running game at the halfback position. He has potential but the organization never knew how to get it out of him since the Bears never do, they thought that he could do it like Tom Brady and there’s only one of him! I feel he got a bad hand and did the best he could but he didn’t have a surrounding cast to help worth a damn

Poor Justin Fields only had Dj Moore (6th in rec yards), Cole Kmet (9th in yards for te) and only got 1,388 rush yards out of his top 3 rbs this year. Jordan Love had Jayden Reed (42nd in rec yards), Tucker Kraft (not even top 25 for te rec yards) and got 1,410 rush yards out of his top 3 rbs...
And yet, Love had an mvp caliber season and won a playoff game in his first year starting while Fields couldn't even manage to be a top 20 passer and went 5-8 🤣🤣

That was a great clip with Kelce. Bears fans, we have to look forward to whoever we take at QB, Justin is gone and he went to the Steelers. My wife was born and raised in Pittsburgh and she’s happy to have Justin there! I’m not! I wanted him to come to the Raiders because we live in Las Vegas.

Throwing the entire route tree at a college where they had an offense that was stacked to the gills and his wide outs were wide open constantly isn't the same as the NFL. There is WAY more margin for error. The decision making doesn't need to be as fast. The defenses don't disguises their looks as well.
There are a whole lot of reasons why QBs look like studs in college, but not in the NFL. How many first rounders need to fail for this just to be commonly accepted. If anyone knew the secret to drafting blue chip QBs they would be billionaires.
