Border View Farms is a mid-sized family farm that sits on the Ohio-Michigan border. My name is Nathan. I make and edit all of the videos posted here. I farm with my dad, Mark and uncle, Phil. Our part-time employee, Brock, also helps with the filming. 1980 was our first year in Waldron where our main farm is now. Since then we have grown the operation from just a couple hundred acres to over 3,000. Watch my 500th video for a history of our farm I filmed with my dad.
I started making these videos in the fall of 2019 as a way to help show what I do on a daily basis as a farmer. Agriculture is different from any other industry and I believe the more people that are showing their small piece of agriculture, helps to build our story. We face unique challenges and stressful situations but have some of the most rewarding payoffs in the end. I get to spend everyday doing what I love, raising my kids on the farm, and trying to push our farm to be better every year. I hope that I can address questions or concerns that you might have about farms and agriculture.
I hope you enjoy my content and ask questions as you have them. I do my best to answer anything I can. Thanks for watching!

Purple corn. Always learn something in your videos. Fields looking great, Nathan.
Someone needs to get Nathan a shirt that says "I
I did not know that about phosphorus. Great teaching video.
Sure point has a flow monitoring deal that works really good
Another great video Nathan
Enjoy your videos!!
Good morning. Good productivity. 😎🇺🇸
It would be interesting if you grabbed a few handfuls of soil near your purple corn plants and test them for Phosphorus levels. Just to confirm how low they actually are.
Good Morning
The wheat here in Eastern Indiana is already started to turn color
Yes! Always move over for faster traffic whenever possible.
They make a system called John blue that you can put magnetic floats in them rain gauges and use an iPad that has the app that shows you the flow by raising them floats
Not phosphorus. It’s Pioneer! 😂
I can assure you that’s not Pioneer corn
Barn Talk!!! Good podcast!!!

Good morning

Nothing ripens wheat like water. Y'all have had a lot of rain
🔥👊🔥
❤ Oi 👍👍👍👍👍
So I have a question. I’ve been watching for a while now and have noticed that you don’t put wheat into your rotation on your irrigated field. Is there a reason? Can wheat be irrigated? 150bu average?
Wheat grows over winter and early spring. Plenty of moisture then
Our old irrigation system couldn't do wheat. At least ast not tall wheat. The water hittingit would cause it to fall over. Wheat does most of its growing in the spring when typically we're not dry. It would be difficult to get a significant yield increase in wheat, 120 maybe, 150 i doubt it. I'll make way more money raising 250 bushel corn than 120 bu wheat so it's not worth giving up the year to grow wheat where we irrigate.
I think I recall you having to replace a flow meter on something. Although I do not recall what, about a year ago.
Corn planter earlier this spring
Why don't you fill the caster tires with foam
First to like 👍
