In this video 1A Auto shows you how to repair, install, fix, change or replace a broken or snapped rear power door lock actuator. This video is applicable to the Pontiac G6 years 05, 06, 07, 08, 09, and 10.

I appreciate you posting this. I had to change the driver side latch on my wife's 06 Grand Prix. Not exactly the same but after some swearing and tears, I did get it back together. Your video helped with several of the important steps. Thank you.
Wow. I think this is possibly my problem that I just encountered. Put the car in park and my door didn't unlock nor does my clicker work. You hear the clicker engaging something but it's not locking or unlocking. Had to use my key. The video is very detailed. I've come to this video site before for my mom's car and ordered a part from 1A. Great videos and great customer service. This company is the real deal.
On the other hand....I would gladly pay a GM dealer or mechanic to do this task for me. It looks tedious.
My problem is with the rear door lock actuators on my 2009 Pontiac G6, is the actuator a universal part for all the doors or is it just door specific? I found this video very helpful because I have a guide on how to take apart my door and to not crack or miss anything.
We currently do not carry this particular part, they might be side specific.

great video guys make sure you do exactly he say i broke one of pins and i damage the part good thing there is junk yard pull a part close to my house pay only 22 dollars and i got it right the second time it was hard i will recommend to fine a cheap mechanic to due for you

I have an 08 Cobalt... I wonder how closely the G6 matches the Cobalt. I can't find any videos for replacing the door lock actuator for a Cobalt.
My problem is the aftermarket replacement doesn't have the same connection for the door handle cable. The stock one slides in like in your video. The aftermarket actuator has a circle for a cable to slide through. From what I have found all the aftermarket acuators have the round circle for the cable. Any suggestions how to make the stock cable work?

The door lock actuator may be bad. When the go bad, it usually gets a little tougher to lock and unlock them lock. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393
you may be able to get one from the dealer, or if you have a telescoping magnet, you should be able to get it out with that. Hope this helps you out. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393
06 grand prix; same door. video was hugely helpful. does the actuator need to be aligned to the striker in some way. have done the job twice, everything works properly till i put finishing touches. close the door and cannot reopen in any way!

Do you have this same video, but for the rear door?
I bought a replacement door from a salvage yard. Do I have to go thru all that just to swap out the tumbler?
I thought this would be a pretty simple thing to do myself, but I fix computers not cars...I could probably get it apart, but I would NEVER get it back together!! Could I bring something like this to a regular shop or would I need to go to a dealer?
Hi! I had a question. The only problem we have is the drivers door wont open from the inside. All other doors work. And when I pull the driver side handle lights on the dash flicker....do you think it is still the actuator?
My problem on my wife’s 2008 Pontiac G6 is both rear doors wont lock or unlock with the remote control or the lock buttons inside the car. Would this be caused by a bad actuator as well?

Hey I have a question if someone can please answer! I have a pontiac g6 2006. When my car is on the driver's side door won't lock. All the other doors do. But when the car is off the door does lock when I hit the lock button on it. What could be the issue. I just put on a new little unlock lock button but it's still doing it. Please and thank you
The problem with my g5 power locks is that they only work the first time, and move like they want to unlock any time i try to lock or unlock after that. i figure its the lock actuators (both sides) but have read of ppl replacing them and having the same problem.. is it a fuse or electrical issue instead?
So my actuator is junk but the door is closed and won't open. Any suggestions to be able to get the door open to replace the actuator . It looks hard enough to do with the door open , probably impossible with it shut. Its a 2010 g-6
If doing the passenger side you don't have to remove the door handle assembly . Just reach in and free the rod from the yellow retainer and save yourself some work .
I can barely tie my shoes.... So this should be easy 👍🏾
I omitted lock and other linkage
My 2008 Pontiac G6 the window roll up and down when you crank the car put it in gear start driving the not roll back down

When i tried to put in the torx screw for the door handle, it fell down into the door; is it possible that I can get replacement screws for them?

I'm paying someone to do this OMG too much work.
Pontiacs since 1968 should have never been made they are the away cars I seriously considering junking this piece of trash over a door lock acuator isnt this a safety related part why isnt there a recall
Be nice to put more emphasis on where and what configuration as during disassembly there is no way to see how they attached

The driver side rear window will not roll down on my g6 convertible. I don't know how to take the panel off to see what the problem is. Can you help?

When we press lock on the left or right doors all doors lock except for the right one... Idk how to fix that please help
If there's power going to the door lock actuator and it isn't working, more than likely the door lock actuator has gone bad.

My doors won't stop going off sounds like they are trying to lock but are unable to. I try to lock them they instantly unlock and they start going crazy whenever they want. Idk what to do or how to fix this.

Did you figure it out I'm having the same problem
I have done this twice and 1st time my car would not lock. So worked on it again today and still not able to get to work and noe door is locked shut and won't open. By any chances a visual. I know I watched the video n repeated steps but still no success.
I get lost on the part where the arm gets removed. You show you latch it on but not sure where.
This is ridiculously detailed. The dealer wants $500 for this fix.
This is the worst car design I swear
