Totally respect your honesty at the beginning, and your decision to see the film. However, I disagree. I don’t need Beyoncé or any celebrity to act as a politician and I really think there’s plenty of light being shed on the atrocities happening on that side of the world without Beyoncé having given lip-service just to appease fans and non-fans. For me, Beyoncé serves as a source of joy and escapism from a world full of shit. I don’t really want her to bring those horrors into the world of Renaissance, which is meant to be a source of escapism, love, and pure joy. I would’ve loved more BTS, and insight into the making of the album and the tour as well. Wish it could’ve been a 3-part streaming series.
"You've no idea what I've been through," she says, as she wipes her tears with dollar bills XD Hi, the friend who saw the movie with u here. As someone who didn't know a single thing about Beyonce before the screening, I gotta say that I liked the movie... but I still don't know much about Beyonce. To be completely honest, you were the one to give me the most important lore during the movie while I sat there mostly puzzled but entertained. I would add tho that a lot of what Beyonce said, especially during the shows, was quite shallow and done to death (not so much during the documentary parts, those were fine imo). Like, I get it, it's the whole showbiz spiel, but hearing yet another popstar be all sugary about how thankful she is for everything, how everyone is beautiful and amazing, yadda yadda, made me roll my eyes a bit. Totally agree with the visuals being stunning and the logistics part being the best thing about the movie. I wish we got more of that, as well as perhaps some interviews with crew members, construction workers, technicians, etc., like you said. Obvsly it's a movie about Beyonce and her show... But like, the show wouldn't have happened without all those people. To be honest I kind of expected the movie to be either just the concert, or to focus primarily on the technicalities - after all it's about the Renaissance tour, why don't we get to see much of the actual tour being made? When the scene with the power outage played I got excited bc I thought we'd get more context for it, but nope, fixed, the show must go on. It would also be great to see some more behind the scenes content e.g. from her travels from show to show, tho I suppose that would be hard to pull off if the shows were only a few days apart. I liked the example you gave about her showing that she's a normal mother by serving her kids a plate of food especially since in the movie it's her kid that brings her food (sure, it's one scene and it's about B's lucky sandwich she eats before each show. I get it but it still made me lol a little).
I just want to say that I really loved your review. I also completely respect your opinion politically because I could tell that you are an actual fan and I feel like you are entitled to feel the way that you do even if I don’t necessarily agree. I also saw the film and I have been a fan of her since independent woman part one, so I really loved it. I actually cried, but my only issue with the film is I wanted more behind the scenes stuff and to get more understanding of the choices that she made for her album and her tour. I wanted to get the meaning behind some of the visuals as well. Thank you for reviewing even if it was critical. Would love to know what you would give it out of 10.
Agree with everything that you said, and this would’ve been a great 2 or 3 part documentary on Netflix, because I really wanted to get more BTS to understand her decision-making with the album and tour. I mean there must’ve been extensive conversation about her not performing single ladies or halo. (Not that I wanted to see either of those again)…but I know there were lots of people who were disappointed with those songs not being on the list.
Oh Taylor can absolutely go fuck herself for the same reason. I haven't done a video on her lack of spine because this channel didn't even exist when she put out her movie. But best believe I'll get to Taylor too
I truly dont agree about your opinion at the beginning as you said i give a fuck but I wanted to applaud you for your amazing review. fyi the way you are silent about what the gaza people did first I care about the innocent people but i dont and i cant defend the country so many people had died in both sides and every artist that has said something has been fired and attack so no go against the politicians not Taylor or Beyonce. Anyway keep up your great work is amazing your reviews are worth watching.

You don’t have to show everything you say. 💀💀 that’s cheesy. That’s like cutting to everything word by word.
