The way the drummers and the dancers are able to keep perfect timing with eachother is astonishing.
The dancer doesn’t keep timing with the drummer. The drummer beats the drum according to the movements of the dancer. If that makes sense. These are spiritual dances, so the spirit of the gods or ancestors move them, hence the title “natural trance”. So the drummer must keep pay close attention and follow the dancer. It’s very opposite to most dances. Pay close attention and you’ll see as he moves they hit the drum.

@@nonyabignessyou're wrong the Dancer follows the drummers you can't not dance without a beat you will loose track of rhythm trust me I know I'm from west Africa and to be specific the dancer is is taking instructions from the Rhythms And Melody So Nice Try the music always comes first because dancing or any type of dancing is influenced by music or Rhythms don't believe me next time when you put on a jamming music let see who influenced who first to start jamming or vibing definitely wouldn't be you it's the music that makes you start moving which means you're following the music not the other way around 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂❤❤❤❤❤

They probably walk barefoot so much they have good control over their leg muscles like we do in our arms.

I get that this takes a lifetime of practice. But how in the world do they get such close synchronization with the music and percussion? Guess I answered my own question. I could watch this all day.

About 7 years.
I suppose they start teaching the boys early to dance but, The girls do not dance.
What makes you think it took a lifetime of practice to accomplish something that they knew they could do with their legs, that others throughout the world could not accomplish? Please note that there's a lot of greatness in Africa that needs no teaching. Besides, it's their ancestral tradition, seen and passed down for centuries. They're the best at everything they do. It's the reason why many from the West flock to Africa to learn what they can by stealing ideas, information, and knowledge to bring back to the US, then have the audacity to put out stolen creation while pretending that it's something of their own knowledge and creation. With this being said, there's someone on this platform or others, who's beating his/ her brain trying to figure out exactly how this traditional dance is being done, in order to duplicate it and add in some type of dance routine while pretending, as usual, to have made it all up.

Thousands of hours of practice and performance. You can imagine if this was a dance intended to intimidate other tribes they might turn tail and run.
