    “I hope this isn’t a sad song” immediately puts on one of the saddest songs ever created. 😭

    We became foster parents when my son’s friend was being abused. We got a call asking if we would foster to adopt a physically abused one year old. We did, she is nine and our older biological kids are 24 and 20. This song packs a punch for us because that little girl in the song became our little girl. She definitely gets tons of hugs and kisses! I’ll never forget when they brought her to us, bruises all over. She was one year old. She is the light of our life!

    When this was first released I was 8 months pregnant with my daughter. I was driving down an interstate going to work then this song came on. I’ve never cried listening to a song until this day. I had to pull over I was crying so hard.

    My situation didn't end the with my parents murder suicide but the rest is my life. My grandparents became my parents when I was 5. I thank God for them every day. I also am grateful for that early life because at 36 I know how to be a parent. As a teacher, I can notice the signs of a neglected child.

    Lost my first wife at 25 then lost both brothers 11 days apart due to alcohol several years later. Addiction runs in my family and it's such a hard habit to break but everytime I hear this song I tell myself that I refuse to be that dad and husband. I pray nobody goes through that pain and anybody struggling with addiction can find help

    This song hits hard for me as a person that was raised with a piece of family a piece of father. My mother was never around. She straight up, told me she wish I was not born. I never got a foster family, so I don’t know what a real family supposed to be But as a father myself, I give my daughter hugs and kisses every day when sere because I’m divorced and I have a seven-year-old daughter and I’ll do anything for her but I stay on the street because my father was an alcoholic and probably still is we don’t talk

    My grandmother from my dad's side raised me up until i was 12 when she passed away. I went to live with my mom and dad. Thats where i saw this story first hand. All but the ending. I had stepped between them and told my dad dont do this. He left the house and me and my mom left. My dad got into trouble with the law. He got caught on a long list of charges and Supposedly unalived him self. I dont think he did. I think someone gave him a hand.but any ways my mom met great man that became a father to me and my sister. We butted heads a lot but That taught me a lot. He was a great man that didn't have to step up to the plate but he did.

    I was approached by someone who lost their kids for the same thing. I agree with you very much. Kids should grow up in a house with love not drugs drinking and fighting. I go where this woman works and sing she works at a nursing home I am going to invite her to church and give her some stuff on the bible but I am glad that her kids are safe

    Methamphetamine. I use to smoke meth, started at 23 with 2 little girls. Got sober pregnant with kid #3 and stayed sober until he was 18 months. Started using again off and on for 7 years. I hit my knees and and prayed for the first time in many years. I said God take me out of this world or give me a reason to live, found out i was pregnant again 2 weeks later. I was 32. I've been sober since that last positive pregnancy test. My youngest will be 10 years old in 4 days..

    I’m pretty sure you missed the whole meaning of the song at the end. And it’s so sad that so many have no clue that they miss what some of the lyrics mean because they themselves have never stepped foot in a church or if they have , they have not been taught since their childhood, different bible stories and keep knowledge of biblical terminology. At the beginning, he said her parents never took her to church. Then at the end , her new parents took her, and while in her Sunday school class, she saw a picture of Jesus on the cross. The lyrics are saying that she recognized that same man on the cross as the one that she would see on the wall of her old house when she was behind her couch while all that was happening with her bad parents and that she would look at that man for comfort , even though she did not know who he was. It helps to have knowledge of just some basic childhood bible stories that you should forever keep stored away in your memory , especially to get the meaning of this song and its lyrics

    • @maryrichardson1318
      @maryrichardson1318 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I think you missed a little bit of the meaning at the very end. It was not a picture of Jesus on the wall of her old house. It was HIM, holding her and keeping her safe, during the violence that was all around her. He got off that cross and held her tight. That is why she recognized him. Jesus is with us, even if we have never heard of HIM.
