I bought my 6 inch blued Python when I graduated the police academy in 1978. Cost me one entire paycheck - 272 dollars. I had to eat bologna sandwiches for a month, it broke me. Carried it on patrol, and in other assignments until 2007 then switched to a 1911. Gave it to my son after I retired - he still has it. Greatest revolver ever.
I don't mind bologna if it's sliced super thin and has some honey mustard on it.

I was pretty young then but I do remember that even used a Python was very expensive. And.. there really never were any on the used market. Not the kind of gun you trade in. I got lucky about 10 years or so ago and one of my guys ran across one and gave it to me for a retirement present. it is a minty 6" 1969... Turns out everyone knew I wanted one. Only thing I have changed is the front sight. Replaced the ramp one with an original NOS patridge which is the sight I like the most.
Hi from France, I shoot with Colt Python since 1989 ! My first one was a 4" and then I bought a 1999 Elite 6" model I still have . I shoot 38WC at 25 meters on C50 targets . A great American gun !

I got mine two months ago, the six inch barrel. The machining on this gun is perfection, flawless. I’ve put 400 rounds through mine and perfect. The SA is almost a hair trigger, smooth as glass. The DA is smooth, no stacking feel. I love my Python
I agree wholeheartedly with the “no stacking” feel of the Python’s DA trigger pull. Puts a Taurus DA trigger mechanism to shame
I fed some 38s through mine, it was like shooting a cap gun, the magnums are what make it the cannon that it is!
To get your own Colt Python, simply place the red jewel into the eye of the tiger. Best used against Hunters and Tyrants, but ammo is hard to come by, always has been.

I bought a 6” Python four days ago. It’s my first revolver and my second firearm. (Bought a Canik TP9SA six days ago). I’m new to gun ownership, and I’m afraid that starting off with a Colt Python is going to spoil me right out of the gate.

@@yodaevil You’re right. There is certainly something about a Colt. That Anaconda has caught my eye. Next I want a SAA, but in the meantime I picked up a few Ruger Wranglers to play with on the cheap.
@@yodaevil Yeah, there is something about perfection that moves from your holster to a steady aim in about 2 seconds and ready to fire in 3. I love this gun.
Years ago we pick up a ruger blackhawk 44mag. The gentleman who had the pistol used it for 200 to 300 yard silhouettes. The pistol had the sights worked over and the cylinder. We never have to use the extractor ever the shells just fall out with the breach open on spent cases, also had the packmyer grips. Simply a dream to shoot.
Colt Python is one sexy revolver, it's one of personal favorites, their expensive! My local FFL has one of those Colt Python from 1995 in perfect condition for $3100. Revolvers are built like tanks. I have a Ruger Security 6, 357mag from 1982, it has never failed once.
I love the feel of a Colt in my hand. I'm a fan of .357 mag anyway, but you're right, when that Colt Python is in your hand you know you have a quality weapon.

The most beautiful revolver ever made. I proudly own two. A 6" and an 8". Both very out-of- the-box accurate, especially the 8, just couldn't miss with it. Along with my Rem.Rand and my Tisas 1911A1 and a couple of smaller guns, I'm set for life.
I have a Colt Lawman MKIII...Not a Python but it’s a Colt revolver that’s somewhat collectible. It’s an awesome shooter.

I inherited my dad's blued 1969 Python 357 6 inch. a few years back. Finally got around to bringing it to the range with me.
It's a very fine piece and my favorite shooter. Every time I bring it out someone at range inquires and admires it.
Great vid, WTW! I bought my Colt Python in 1984 at the base exchange at Elmendorf Air Force Base, Anchorage, AK. Yup! You are correct! That is one mighty fine revolver. Best looking revolver ever, in my opinion.

Way back in the day when I was a police officer in the 1970's in north Texas, I used to have one of these - the classic kind! Yes, I truly loved it!! We carried 357 magnums as our duty weapon - I carried the 4" barrel length as an off duty pistol. There is no better pistol!! I'm envious!!! Happy New Year!!
Incredible revolver
I’ve never owned a Python but I’ve owned 2 Colt Trooper Mk IIIs. One had a 6” barrel and the other had an 8 3/8” barrel. They both had adjustable sights and excellent triggers. I kid you not, they’re the two best shooting revolvers I’ve ever owned. .38 Special or .357 Magnum, they didn’t seem to care which or what brand. I traded the 6” for a muzzle loader to extend my hunting options at the time, 1981. The 8 3/8” was for handgun hunting. Now that I’m riding a wheelchair, I don’t shoot anymore, so they’re history. I wish I had a good place to shoot that my wheelchair could handle! The guy I sold mine to told me that he’d sell it back if I get a chair that would handle my local terrain. I’m still looking! Happy New Year Who Tee Who! That Python is a sweet looking pistol!
One thing to remember is that the Colt's cylinder will turn the opposite direction of say S&W or Taurus. Great video, thank you.

Hey WTW, just checked this one out. I bought a Colt Python back in '92, paid $500 for it brand new in the box. That's when they were hand crafted. Still have it today, but I swapped out the grips for black Pachmayr's. Mine is a 6 inch barrel royal blue finish. That's one gun I would never sell. Still hard to find any .38 Special or .357 Magnum rounds for it. Hopefully that will change soon.
Colt python, my favorite revolver, my second favorite is the Ruger Blackhawk.

Great video Who-Tee, While I visited my cousin in Oklahoma, he brought out his colt python, what a sweet revolver, it was super smooth and fun to shoot, couldn’t miss with it….

A relative once owned both a blued
Python and a Smith 586. Both guns had smooth trigger pulls and were great shooters. The only difference was the way the triggers performed. The 586 had a continuous pull while the Python trigger felt like it would have some stacking before it breaks.
I have , the 4.25 and absolutely enjoy the hell out of it.
You should do a video on a 1911 with a 460 rowland conversion, preferably a long slide with the compensator. I shot it all it seems but this pistol is mind blowing. It recoils like a soft 357 but with the energy of a 44 mag. I love it! I shoot 200 grains at 1490 fps.
Michael python for 1976 jammed so many times send it back jammed finally sold it never had a problem with Smith and Wesson Jerry Mcdonogh

I bought mine in 1979. They made them with 2, 4, 6, and 8 inch barrels and either Nickel or a mirror blued finish. Mine is blued with 6" barrel. Very very accurate out to 100 yards. I've taken ground hogs at 50 yards and a deer at 40 yards on the run. The balance and smoothness of the trigger is perfect.
Colt also made a big brother in .44 mag.
It's called the Anaconda. You might want to check out one of them if you can find one.

I like my firearms to be built from steel and wood. Anything else is unacceptable. Love the crack thru the land a .357 magnum makes. Beautiful firearm and fantastic round.
Big fan of colt. I got a colt trooper model 3 inch barrel made in the early 80's that was my father's and I love that gun for a wheel gun I prefer autos
The Colt Python & the Ruger Super RedHawk are prob my favorite shooting revolvers. They're both super smooth shooting large caliber revolvers that are made to perfection. So tightly built as you had mentioned before. Both are very accurate with firm yet smooth operation when cycling the cylinder and firing them. Both are a treat on the range or on a hunting trip. But thats what you get with precision made tools of top quality!!!

Get a Taurus Raging Hunter in 454 Casull so you can handgun hunt and use heavy 45 Colt loads too.
He has one with a short barrel. He has the raging judge with . 454 and 45 and 410

I just got the new Colt Python about a month ago, now I EDC with a Galco Phoenix custom holster. Looks great. I'm not keeping this as a safe queen for my kids to have after I croak.

Sweet gun i have the 6inch brite polish anaconda 44mag. The action on that gun is as smooth as glass love it!! I just recently picked up the ruger super redhawk in .454 oh my what a cannon.

I’m glad I bought a bunch of .38 before the pandemic, I haven’t seen anything except reman loads since about April - .357 I only found like 3 boxes.
I have the same kinda problem. Look at about 5:20, I do that all the time. So many different guns to shoot, practice practice!

Saw Colts rep on yt vid, and he said they are working on that, however don't expect a 4" because of Canadas laws . They will only allow 4 !/2 inch pistols imported .

Don’t have a colt yet! Got two Rugers in 357 and one that has the 9mm cylinder so can shoot 3 different ammunition with it. A Uberti cattleman in a 357 and a S&W 66-2 in 357 my favorite round for a revolver but did just pick up a S&W 69 in the big boy 44Mag love them all !!!!! And love the fact the one gun different ammunition with out change a thing!! Will all except one

My favorite target for my handguns is dollar store sodas. 12 oz. At 100 yards the 2 liter are a challenge but spectacular. Steel is cool but I don't have places that it is cool to shoot. Everyone loves to see a soda can explode tho.
4.25 is available. The 6 is in production. Holding out for the 6 which looks even better but feel the 4.25 might be more practical for home and carry (if necessary). A dilemma is what it is and not doable to buy both
That thing is gorgeous! I bought a Taurus Tracker 357 magnum with a 6.5" barrel last year and should have bought more ammo because I'm down to one box and you can't find anymore ammo. Tired of this shit 😔😔

Went through that last shortage, now I cast bullets and reload and have thousands of rounds.
Time to start reloading! Components are available except for primers. Theoretically, they can be recycled but I’ve never actually seen it done. Home brewed primers sound a little sketchy and possibly dangerous. But I’ve read a couple of articles about it. I guess if things get too weird we might be forced into innovative paths!

Never shot a Python but if I did think I would be enjoying the double action trigger.

Those things are way cheaper now than they used to be if you adjust for inflation.
I really like the 357mag. They can hit hard with still rather soft kick.
Also without much training one can hit good with it, also shooting with one hand with actual 357.
And with just 38 ,it makes a good carry gun.
