    Davidson Parkway can also be seen on RMWeb: www.rmweb.co.uk/community/ind...
    Many thanks to all the recent viewers and subscribers. A thanks also to Charlie Bishop of Chadwick for his recent video that recommended the Hawkeye Firefly Q6 mini camera.

    Just saw Davidson Parkway rail freight running session, what a cracking superb layout that is.
    Love the stock , and the period , put me in mind when I used to go to Mossend yard to do videos there.
    Can I as a couple off questions
    1. What size is your layout.
    2. And is it DCC operated , or analogue.
    Thank you once again , for taking the time to read my comments, and keep up the fantastic work , and running sessions on that brilliant layout .
    Regards Big Al from Ayrshire

    • @ModelRailway
      @ModelRailway  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Many thanks Al … glad you enjoyed! I’ve seen a few videos on TH-cam of Mossend Yard in action … such a good variety of stock and loco’s during the 80’s and 90’s. The layout is approx 7m by 4.5m (22ft by 14ft) and I currently use DC analogue (Gaugemaster panel controllers) but have allowed provision to switch to DCC at some stage … watch this space! Regards, Mark

    With the lorry 🚛 driver shortage what an opportunity to restart speedlink again 🤔 It beggars belief how we let it all go 30 years ago 🥴 Now we’re polluting the atmosphere with dirt trucks doing 8mpg at best 🙄 Great running session bringing back so many happy memories sat on Warrington BQ station from the late 70s to 80s when I gave up train spotting 👍🏻

    • @ModelRailway
      @ModelRailway  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Many thanks for the comment … and good points! I had a couple of trips to Warrington BQ during the early 90’s and know what you mean … plenty of variety of freight back then and it’s nice to be able to recreate to some degree in model form! Don’t forget though, plenty of freight traffic does get transported by rail these days (mostly in containers and block load) … but capacity on the network is a factor on some routes, especially mixing traffic types. Hopefully more freight can travel by rail going forward, especially with HS2 freeing-up plenty of capacity along some of the busiest routes 👍

    Fabulous layout. Stunning. and 30 years since Speedlink? Remember these times well , especially from 1983-1991 - especially Stour valley (Birmingham -Wolverhampton), Bescot, Stafford and Rugby.A return of Speedlink would be good, but isn't more sent by Freightliner now. Most Freightliner or Intermodals are longer trains now? Although you still see Cargowaggons at times.

    • @ModelRailway
      @ModelRailway  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Mark for the message … and yes, time flies! I bought Paul Shannon’s Speedlink book that helped with some research and a large variety of workings and lengths of rakes … some were only one wagon, other workings were very long! Since the demise of Speedlink then most workings are preferred to consist of longer block workings as they’re more efficient in terms of pathing and cost. 👍

    • @ModelRailway
      @ModelRailway  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Many thanks for the comment and compliment … the OLE did take some time to plan, construct and install and wasn’t cheap … but am pleased with the results. It’s only cosmetic (so the pantographs aren’t touching), largely due to having used the Dapol plastic masts, also the variability in pantograph construction and springiness, also reliability … bit from a distance it looks reasonably good now that I’ve begun to set pantograph heights just below the contact wire. It’s always good to see other layouts with electrification as well … and also good to see manufacturers developing models of electric traction 👍

    What a lovelly layout!! Did you make your own over head line portals or are they commercially available??

    • @ModelRailway
      @ModelRailway  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Many thanks for the comment and compliment! The OLE portals are the brass kits from NBrass models (a lovely guy is the proprietor) … quite easy to solder up then paint using Halford grey primer. The fittings that the OLE wires fit on are brass rod that’s cut, bent then soldered into position …. hope this helps! I’ve also used the Dapol plastic masts (they are easy to install) and Peco also do a range of masts 👍 ps 38 was a fine machine!
