    Great information, you are one of the few to explain the 120 volt system.

      Thanks! I made this video because when I did this for the first time I couldn't find much information on this so I figured I'd share my techniques.

    future reference, you can mount inverter that way but for heat dissipation the fans in the back should be up. heat rises the fans are the outlets. just a thought for your viewers!

    Hey, Could you make a video explaning your set up and how you have everything wired from the starter into the inverter. I am working on a similar project and need to find a way to power my ac that consumes 900 watts. i bought a ef ecoflow battery and it comes with the cigarette connection, however the input on that is only 100 watts. Thank you

    Hello my friend! I was just wondering how do you keep the battery wired to the inverter charged? I know it’s a silly question but I’m learning to install one 😅

    Stranded wire is preferred (I think it is marine code) in mobile applications. The USB /AC outlets are cool in your house, but you don’t want to convert your 12 volt DC to 120 AC and back to 12 volt DC in your Van. You have loss just turning your inverter on and you loose some power in the conversion and then the plug converts it back to 12V DC. Better to just wire up 12 volt USB outlets and cigarette lighter 12volt outlets.

      Yeah it definatley is the standard. However I pulled all that Romex out of a 2007 RV so I figured it was ok to use. Thanks for thr information. I didn't know that normally I would just use USB outlets and just use the plugs on the inverter and not wire any outlets but this was a build for someone else who wanted the USB ports on their outlet. I put these videos up because I learn so much from the comments. I felt other than the outlet and Romex I did a pretty solid job here. Let me know what you think. I love our vanlife community for always sharing their knowledge.

      @@Vankookz Your T&G video was very helpful for me. Leaving the edge un-tightened/ un-nailed till the next board. Also, the importance of making sure you get them snug together before tightening. I decided to use screws, but it had nothing to do with not trusting your brad-liquid nail method.
      An old video of yours about the engineer that built a shower in the sliding doorway was inspirational. I did a similar build, but added quadruple filtered, bacteria killing UV lamp recirculating capability with Rixens on demand heating. Still working out ceiling and shower head. The sunken/ hidden stainless steel shower pan has a teakwood inlay and steal slats fitted in the sides like in your video. The shower curtain has magnets sewn into the bottom to keep the curtain snug to the perimeter of the shower pan. Even installed the shower mixer & control handle in the van wall like in your video. Much of my shower design is inspired by your video so THANK YOU!

    The output on your inverter was only 10Amp. Curious why you would use 20Amp at the breaker? And what was the Amp rating on the inline fuse?

    • @dvmartel1
      @dvmartel1 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Same question, saw that 10Amp output, don't understand why its so low.

    Hi, Can you also charge your batteries on shore power (AC) with that setup? i.e.: 120v to 12v converter/charger? I'm wondering how people are setting this up. Do you simply add a separate 120v to 12v charger hooked directly to your AC braker box? Great video, thanks guys.

    • @Vankookz
      @Vankookz  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes you can you need what we call an inverter charger or an inverter with auto transfer

    I did my install like this, but my inline gfci to the circuit box trips after i turn my inverter off every time...any ideas why? It does not trip while working only when i turn iverter off, then i have to reset gfci breaker to get it working again every time.

    • @Vankookz
      @Vankookz  ปีที่แล้ว

      So. That’s the one unfortunate thing about this system most people keep the inverter on 24/7 my electrician friend assured me that I needed more protection since I’m in a moving vehicle and you never know what can happen. However now knowing this I would have not done that a second time. Although the unit is on 24/7 in the times I do turn it off I do have to go in and reset the breaker. It’s really not needed it’s just extra protection.

    • @the03mach1
      @the03mach1 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Vankookz well I ended up taking the end line gfci breaker off...I am only going to turn my big inverter on when cooking or using..as it draws I think 16 watts just sitting idle..and I think my inverter should have ground fault protection built it..I used some different components than you and my inverter is not a transfer station (wish i would have bought one like that instead) but, your video definitely gave me the courage to wire it myself... I am pretty close to finishing all my electrical..solar, DC to DC, and also have a smaller inverter installed for using smaller appliances 24-7. And will be testing system long term soon.. Thanks again for the video..

    Im confused ...why did you dazy chain the breakers?....also why did you put to breakers to only one 120 outlet?

    • @Vankookz
      @Vankookz  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Daisy chain to connect the power to both. Also the breaker is totally for extra precaution. Since this van was actually built to spec for a client we just wanted to add an extra level of safety in case of an accident. Just a little something keep that won’t keep us up at night.

    I noticed one difference between your inverter and mine in that yours I see a separate ground wire connecting. Mine does not have that so the outlets I connect to after the breaker or the outlets on the inverter show open ground, this concerns me, have you encountered this issue or question? I am a very novice skoolie to RV builder.

    • @Vankookz
      @Vankookz  ปีที่แล้ว

      I haven’t. As long as you ground the breaker box it should be ok. Have you since figured it all out. Sorry for the delay.

      I know... Here's the thing. It's a moving vehicle. Anything can happen I was just taking all the precautions here. I totally could have done without them in the case of something falling off or getting knocked off. It's also her garage/storage area and it was our first van build for somebody else so we just made it extra overkill safe. But I've started a mini electrical fire in a van many moons ago in my youth and it was terrifying.

    there is no earth ground on vans or cars! four rubber tires!

    • @Vankookz

      True. I always think about that. But most of these units and systems require a ground so the chassis works not sure how, but it does the trick.
