    Safety warning: If you mount the pivoting arm upside down, you may not be using it in the way that it was engineered to be used. It is possible that the pin assembly for holding the (empty) carrier in the upright position is only designed to handle a small force. Seriously reconsider the potential for that pin or hole to shear off when you hit a bump. And remember, the laws of the road WILL hold you responsible for damage to others if this thing is involved in an accident and was improperly used. You are responsible to use carriers safely, because people can get killed if cargo comes loose at highway speeds.

      This!! And I would use u bolts around the structural metal of the tow rack, that grate is likely not rated to pressure at the individual points. Oh, and washers on both sides

    • @LiamMarcon
      @LiamMarcon ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This is a great point. Having it able to fold down to open the back is great but it's clearly designed to be sitting on the main frame of the hitch extension, instead of all the weight on a pin.

      @@LiveEasy Hey there. I have been back and forth on what would be the best option, a cargo box hitch or roof top box. The roof top carrier seems like it would be much harder getting things off and on from roof. The hitch seems a lot easier, my biggest issue could be the exhaust fumes spraying on the cargo, especially if you use the generator of the car for ac or heat when sleeping/camping, or driving, and stopping for whatever reason with the vehicle on. What is your opinion on that?

    • @LiveEasy
      @LiveEasy  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You are spot on with the convenience of the hitch box over the roof carrier. Plus it acts as an always-ready table surface AND is less harmful to fuel economy.

    One idea maybe you’ve thought of maybe you haven’t. But you could buy a piece of wood or metal cut to the size of the box to sit on the screws to help with the exposed screws potentially getting in the way of things you’d wanna put in the box. And as a plus there’d be a small hidden area underneath to put things in as well that maybe you don’t want extremely visible. You’d lose some space and of course it may not be extremely secure. Maybe there’s a way to secure it not sure. And you couldn’t put too much weight on it unless you secured it. But I think it’d be a good way to store things especially flat boxes or the like that wouldn’t sit even against those screws.

    • @LiveEasy
      @LiveEasy  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Just the fact that you are asked about most of all about it makes me want to not use my time on it. I have been researching so much and the thing needs to look official, not theft worthy and no eye soared so maybe a clean look to it for officialness like not a crate in the back. No diy look and black for anti theft. Or dark blue with minimal shine with the look of it being bolted to the car and lastly not an eye soared. So slim but possibly flat like on the back of the trunk. I have not yet found this state of the art amazing object but I surely will and I will make a video about it and send it to you . I am a prius owner but I am a renter I just want to upgrade my prius with space!

    Awesomeness!! The only “improvement” I’d recommend is adding another flat washer to each bolt on the inside between the bottom of the box and the lock nuts.

  • @philc.9280
    @philc.9280 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Looks real nice. I did the same but used a Husky heavy duty fiberglass tool box instead of aluminum. By the way I didn't see you use any washers when you tighten the bolt inside. I would think a large bump could rip that bolt right head out. For our longer trips in our class B rv I also used straps as extra insurance as you cant be too careful flying 70 mph down the freeway with a box carrying a ton of stuff.

    It should have been made of a plastic garden box and the top should have been topped with a solar panel. The boot organiser is brilliant and I'm going to pinch that idea. A separate small battery and LED downlight with a lid switch would just top it off. The riser is a must for nearly everyone with a gutter.

      I will admit I was a bit hasty in my initial unsub (and I subsequently resubbed). But I'm really happy with the way you handled the interaction. I want to give you a little more insight into a subscribers point of view regarding the premiere feature. When I click on my subscriptions, its because I want to see my favorite channel's latest videos, not because I want to see videos I can't actually see yet. If YT put this feature in a separate list for "upcoming videos" then that would be entirely different, but they don't. They lump these scheduled videos in the same category as sub videos, which really isn't where they belong and it only serves to aggravate us.

      Not sure why you seem to be upset, but everyone has their own priorities. Personally, I wanted to be able to travel long distances without being concerned for the cost. With the number of miles I have traveled, the fuel economy difference between the Prius and a suburban has paid for the cost of my vehicle three times over. I understand the cost savings is not what everyone optimizes for. Enjoy your suburban.

      @@LiveEasy can you give me some advice on my channel? I just got monetized, and my channel is just like yours, but the only video of mine getting a lot of views is my Prius camper build video (we spoke a while back). My other videos aren't getting many views
      I don't know if it's my thumbnails, titles, or what. Any advice would be greatly appreciated

      Congratulations on getting monetized. Glad to hear your camping video is doing well. Your channel seems to be doing well. Clicked on your 12v video and something that's a critical change is to move the intro to later. If you want a graphic intro like that, I'd make it half as long (or less) and have it play after you've already introduced the topic of the video, and hopefully hooked the audience. Starting slowly is fine for movies, but on TH-cam, people aren't patient enough and it hurts your retention.
      Next, research using Tubebuddy. Once you learn how it works, it's essential if you want to give your videos their best shot at success.
      Good luck!

      @@LiveEasy awesome, thanks. I'm going to try not using the intro then. I think you're right, now I wish I didn't use an intro at all on any videos.
      What all can you do on tube buddy? I actually already still have it but it doesn't seem useful, maybe I'll look into it more

      They have tons of educational video on the official tubebuddy channel. Too much for me to type out.

    The roof top storage in Korea that would fit my car costs over 1.3million in Korean Won(same as almost $1200) 😣😣 I call you as 금손 which means golden hands👏👏👏! That represents people who are so good at making stuffs like you. Even cargo carriers on the market in your country look so cheap comparing to the normal prices in where I am living. 😔😔

      A rainproof, soft-sided rooftop bag would be even cheaper than a hard-sided one.

      Bikes and trucks get it, a car with a trailer can also get it. Basically the death wobbles are from weight shift, Having weight out over the back can causes it, but usually it's towed weight. Actually I'd say it's to do with over correcting by the driver.

    • @LiveEasy
      @LiveEasy  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Gotcha. I haven’t had any bounce issues since adding the tighteners.

      @@LiveEasy I appreciate the response! Truth be told, I saw your Prius tour video at the beginning of lockdown and it inspired me to sell everything I own, buy a Prius, and I’ve been living in it full time ever since. Comfortably too, thanks to your tutorials! Best decision I ever made. You’re changing lives man! ❤️
