- Like all the junk journal makers and collage artists I seem to create an ever growing pile of scraps and I'm constantly trying to use them up. One way I've found very productive and quick is to make postcards, now postcards are not only used as journal cards in my junk journals but I like to send them out as a thank you or thinking of you gift to friends and family. If I'm compiling an order from my Etsy shop or a commission I like to include a personal little note on a unique little piece of art....hence I use postcards I create.

Oh dear Ceri, I'm watching you in April 2022, 10 months after you posted this. Sadly, we are in the 6th wave and things are not going well. I think it is a very good thing we didn't know we would be in this thing for the long haul.
I love your postcards. I do Postcrossing and some members express liking original, handmade cards. My goal is to have a bunch ready for these people. I think your method is brilliant.

Pattie, I must admit I very much doubt I’m going to be doing food on video as its a tricky one to do.
I'm just getting back to doing my art due to going through cancer treatments which messed up my eyes, Your videos are giving me some great ideas for painting mixed media. My main medium is color pencil so I am experimenting doing post cards with color pencil backgrounds. I also do a lot of crocheting afghans and I'm thinking making things to give to people when I am giving them afghans would be great. Thank you for inspiring me!

youtube recommended you yesterday and I've had a blast watching just a few of your videos. My brain will explode from all of your unique ideas! And I have to remember to stop and eat! Thank you for your refreshing take on paper crafting...I was going to recycle (get rid of) some of my old books, now I know what to do with them.
I checked your website and can't find where you say what those rings are that you keep your washi tape on, that is a brilliant idea. And I gotta see if you have a video on how you made your ephemera books, also a cool and handy idea. Keeps them within easy eye reach, instead of hidden away.

Don’t forget you can cut your own postcards from card stock. Sometimes this time of year you can get packs of white greetings cards they can also be turned into postcards.

Love this method! You are always adding to more than one card at a time!! Good way to use my security envelopes, too. Might have to put the post card blanks on my Christmas wish list. 😏 (The kids say my list is boring or too short. I only ask for what I need.)

I love the way you join them together while you were collaging them. I use postcards for Journal cards and pockets and Tux and this is a good way to make a whole bunch of them at one time. Thank you so much for sharing your talent with all of us

You have given me some great ideas. I like that you give a tag, or label, or post card as a gift. I sell some greeting cards through the year, and I'm now thinking one of these little creations in a multi-pack would be a nice touch. Thanks for this wonderful idea, Ceri.

Love this idea. I ordered some postcards tonight. I found some that are sustainable Kraft paper with a 100 pack. Woot woot! Thanks for sharing. I always put three of things. It’s the perfect number for lots of reasons to me. Love your stamp collection. Sorry it’s so hot in England. When we were stationed there back in 88-91 the summers were brutal. There were records broken all over the place. I actually got a tan while living here. I love the traditional cooler temps of England. Miss that. In NM it is so so so hot. Ugh.

Hi Ceri! Hope you are enjoying or enjoyed the weekend. Hot and a bit humid here in Maine. I finally gave in and used the air conditioner today. These post cards came together beautifully. 🦋 I was going to add that you can buy the blanks in Kraft paper as well if that's something that you enjoy. I know I do.
I was wondering how the room is coming along? Have you successfully moved everything at least twice? Lol
If you recall I mentioned that I am using trouser hangers for my washi tape storage. They also work really well for holding the roll of parchment paper, plastic wrap and I still have a partial roll of the big size Tim Holtz tissue paper. And yes his new smaller tissue rolls fit on them as well. 🙂
Hi Laura, yes I've moved things several times in the new craft cave but I think its now settled for the time being. I've just ordered sustainable Kraft blank postcards as someone else also suggested that and its something I never thought of. The trouser hanger idea is still in the back of my mind for the appropriate project when it arises, thank you
I’ve just found your channel and love your organisation with your stash. I have A3 zip wallets that are supposed to be organised but sometimes things fit more than one category. Great video with lots of inspiration, thank you.

Can you use multiple thicknesses of paper on these or does it all need to be thin paper?
I’d say use whatever you think is suitable, I sometimes use various thickness of a paper and card even using fabric scraps from time to time.
Can these postcards be mailed with pieces glued on? Or do you scan them and put them onto sticker paper and put that onto the back of the postcard?

Where do you get the postcards from I live in Canada and haven't seen any here
I used to order blank postcards from eBay and Amazon, however for the past year I’ve just been cutting up my card stock into standard postcard size and using those, I normally mail my postcards in envelops for protection anyway.
I bought grab boxes from Michael's and they put ALOT of washi's in them. That's how I got most of my washi's. Does your Michael's have Grab boxes for $5.00?
Unfortunately we don’t have a Michaels in my country.

Thank you Ceri!! Love these!! I too have that animal attraction thing happens to me too. Many dogs come to visit me at the cabin along with wild animals, bears, fix, deer, birds etc. They always know they’re quite welcome ❤️

I love this idea Ceri. As I said in my last comment on another tutorial, I'm just starting my art journal journey. I sometimes feel a big blank page frightening to start with, so possibly starting on a smaller scale would be easier. Thanks again for your hints, tips and advice. I love hearing about what an exciting life you have led. Here in Scotland, it rains a lot. I am pasty white too, and ginger, so burn very easily and go bright red and hurt, lol and I hate sunbathing as I don't see the point. I'm in my late 50s and once again enjoying art I used to do at school, so getting inspiration from the likes of yourself is fantastic. Please keep up the great work. Sorry can I ask where you got the little tins for the labels and where can I get music paper in UK?
Hi Susan, I believe I got the little tins from eBay I just searched small metal tins and took it from there, I think they eventually came from China but I believe that's where they're manufactured anyway. Music paper I normally find in my charity shops, usually under the books or the book shelves there's a basket of mixed stuff in there you may find music paper as it can't always be stacked on a shelf.

I do this same thing with my old glue pages, cut them apart and use them as needed. If I want to make journal cards from them I turn them over and do the same process again with neutral papers. I often sew around them to hold them together better (glue pages are rarely properly glued). I love the postcard blanks though, I have never seen them here.

Animals live at a higher frequency than humanity. They know unconditional love, which humanity is still trying to understand. Your magnet is also a higher frequency. It also attracts birds, dragonflies, butterflies and just bugs in general lol. I’ve had cicadas chase me around my garden!

I'm a new follower, and enjoying slowly working through your videos. This one tickled me, with you talking about being in the sun. The comment that you looked down and asked "Why is my arm pink!?" I guffawed. Spending my life in Texas, that's a check you get used to from childhood - having to periodically run to mom to reapply the sunblock

Hi Eliza, I only create digital downloads in my Etsy shop which are the products I sell, I don’t sell physical products so I don’t have to mail. When I do mail anything as a gift, happy mail etc the. I’ll mail where ever it needs to go but sometimes there are problems with shipping internationally depending on what I’m sending.
This is so useful! I recently made a master board following your example, and I scanned and cut it up, into postcards, but it needed something more. This is the answer! Thanks Ceri!

I've just discovered your channel and now am bingeing on watching the videos! Really enjoying your ideas and imagine my surprise when I saw you pull out your washi tape collection which is organized the same way I have mine arranged; difference is that I constructed my own rings with some wire from my stash. This works for me as well and I have never seen anyone else on you tube store their tapes in this manner. Yes, I love animals also and have been vegetarian for 59 years and vegan for almost 4. Don't worry about offending me; I actually enjoy hearing about meals people put together particularly where thought and creativity are involved. Do want to say however that meat is not the sole source of protein and actually vegetables are also protein sources ; even though the protein may be partial in a vegetable; the combination with others can form a complete protein. Sorry you were sick and perhaps your body needed more time to adjust to a new way of eating? I know that years ago my hair began coming out when I tried a vegan diet for 6 weeks but after I made some adjustments and took a more gradual approach I had no problems; in face my hair is thick and long today. Anyway thanks for your sharing and I look forward to more videos.

Hi Ceri, don’t forget that if you are putting the postcards directly in the post, that the new postage stamps are much wider because of the QR section and therefore they would cover up your made by Ceri stamped image. Enjoyed the video tfs

I think animals are empathy and can either see auras or maybe it is a persons scent. They know who is receptive to them or not a mean spirited person. My cats are very perceptive of folks. They hide when the mailman comes by, but they love the garbage collectors.
Lol, yup animals have more awareness of their senses than us I believe.
