The guitar-ish part at 21:55 is really nice. Also great overview and impressions. Seconding the 8 voice polyphony not being that big of a deal, especially considering each channel can be stereo.
I just ordered mines today, Ive been on youtube checking for videos about the S2400 and your is straight to the point, Thank you However how can I get one of those performers thats connect to your S2400??
Man I got mpc live 1, maschine MK2, Ableton, Serato , FL and I'm tryna justify in my mind a reason to get one of these things lol. I'm 100% satisfied with where my music is right now but I like this da#n thing. It's sounds outstanding even on TH-cam. How long did it take for them to ship it to u. Great presentation by the way
I notice when you change the pitch the sample speeds up/slows down. Does it have no timestretch? And do you get the chipmunk effect on higher pitches if no timestretch? Cheers nice video
No time stretch that I’m aware of but then again like I said I haven’t read the manual lol. Also, I wouldn’t doubt that it may be on the future updates list. I know they made certain to lock down core functionality in time for shipping with other things to come later
You don’t need time stretching on an SP or this unit. This machine isn’t focused on playing loops, it about YOU creating your own loops at whatever tempo you want.
I am thoroughly pleased with it and glad I got it later really once those lovely firmware updates were in place. I am checking for a performer piece too by Kwanzaa.
Ty for the live stream it helps out a lot. I do have a question, how do you have your mini euro rack effects hooked up to the S2400? Maybe on your next live stream about midi you can fit that info in. I myself am about to hook up my new S2400 with my new euro rack gear and I want to make sure I do it right. Thank you for all your hard work and efforts.
The beat is dope man 🔥 How do you get your beats to the DAW? Is there a way to bounce patterns internally or would you need to record them out as audio? Thanks man
Yeah I know its a wait but its at least an option where getting an sp1200 is simply not anymore. unless you want to spend up to 8 times as much in some cases.
8 voice polyphony is a bit scary tbh for a 1500 box. I love everything about it but that does sound like a limit I might not want to accept anymore. Is it really 8 voices for all those banks?
Good job Dilla wasn't scared by the limited polyphony of the SP-202. And my god, I even hear they still make guitars that only offer up to six voice polyphony. And they charge even more for some of them than they do the S2400! 😱
@@Claidheambmor if you reply snarky, at least get dilla’s SP version right. Also it’s 2023, it’s not weird to wonder about 8 voices on a high end piece of studio gear. You can buy 3 to 4 Roland sp’s so their not in the same category. Ik started out on a mpc60 in 94, so miss me with that limitation talk. I can make every sampler sing, but when you dish out 1500+ euro in 2023, of course I wonder if 8 voices will be enough for my needs.
Fair enough. I guess. But it’s already selling like hot cakes. It’s a premium boutique not mass produced joint. Maybe not for everyone but that’s the deal with any premium product. The initial price was 900 for nearly 2 years then it went up to 1499.
I'm sorry to hear you don't value great instruments made by decent people. I'm sure you feel you are owed a decent hourly wage. How about I told you that I think you want too much money to work, and I'd pay you £2 an hour to clean my house, because hey, your business would sell like hot cakes. So come on, clean my house for £2 an hour. I'm waiting.
To the purists….stop yucking a yum!!!! The rarity and sheer price of the sp 1200 means the workflow only really exists in lore or hearsay. There’s really no chance of ever actually trying it out irl. UNTIL NOW. The idea of chopping and pitch shifting with those sliders makes my mouth water lol. There’s nothing else that does that so flawlessly!
Dope video thanks Corry! I didn’t know you were Modpab Modular! Me and a few of the homies on the S2400 forum have been talking about the Per4mer. I IG messaged the other day @junior_g_prod cuz I’m about to get on one of those asap! Was likely you responding, much appreciated on the case and power supply info! For someone who’s never used a module before, if I’m working with JUST the S2400 and Per4mer, how does audio get routed? Just channel/mix out to the per4mer with a 1/4 to 3.5 cable?
Yo thanks man. Yeah Modbap Modular is my company and I designed Per4mer. Yup it was me responding. Dope to see s2400 users interested in Per4mer. They pair well.
@@Bboytechreport yeah man you designed one hell of a performance enhancer! So it’s easy as S2400 straight into the Per4mer with the proper cable? Lemme know, couple guys have these questions on the Isla forum so gonna relay over there. Much love homie you’re an amazing creator 🙌
@@j.r.g3548 oh dope. Link me to the post when you get a chance. So yeah just need Per4mer, a case with power (4ms pod20 works well) and 1/4” to 1/8” patch cables. Per4mer takes line level and eurorack level signals.
That’s perfect and an awesome entry into eurorack...may get a case to fit a couple more modules into 😂. Here’s the thread we were on but I’ve seen mentions on a bunch of others - forum.islainstruments.com/t/beat-repeat-for-whole-pattern/2471/6 . Should def make a thread specific to Per4mer. Brethren, Glad to see you got one. I've definitely luv'd having mines. Nothing but more creations to come going forward. I gotta checkout that performer in the future. Peace...Netm8kr (#264)
dude that sound is fresh as heck @15:40 immediately bops, kick drum sounded so good
Great job! Best of the Isla experience videos on TH-cam.
Hope this is available for years to come! Sampling sounds amazing!
Super Dope first impressions. Thanks for this! I am still patiently waiting for mine... should be early in the next batch.
no problem. thanks for stopping by. you are in for a treat.
Me too. I ordered July 29th so just missed out on the last batch.
Same ! I’m waiting on mine too I ordered on august 7 2020
Just ordered mine ...thanks for the review
S2400 #1645 is in front of me and it's built to the MPC 60 level and sounds fantastic.
The guitar-ish part at 21:55 is really nice. Also great overview and impressions. Seconding the 8 voice polyphony not being that big of a deal, especially considering each channel can be stereo.
cool thanks. yeah its an arp i played from Hydrasynth sampled into s2400's classic sample engine.
Ah I didn’t know that part, so its 8 times stereo? And say you worked in mono, do you theoretically have 16 voices then?
Hi, can you please write the name of the device at 28:12 right next of the S2400? Is it the Modbap Modular Per4mer? Thanks!
It’s the Modbap Modular Per4mer cop it at Modbap.com
@@Bboytechreport Thanks!
Dope piece of kit. Waiting for mine to arrive.
When does the sampling time and memory start over? When you start a New beat or project?
I'm happy you got to demo it, cause I haven't seen anyone of color till now demo it, and I'm happy that it's you! You deserve it! 💁🏼♀️
for some reason cant find format sd card in the menu ?
Love mines!!!! Fun and easy to use!
The pads feel like a nail buffer as texture goes but are built nicely

It does audio over usb. All 8 tracks straight into daw
What's good with that lil two piece modular effect you've got on the right? That is beyond cool.
its a eurorack module that I make via the company I own Modbap Modular. check out modbap.com

How do those 12 bit converters compare to MD UW’s ? MD is the only lo fi sampler I’ve ever messed with.
cant answer that. I have a Machine Drum but not the UW version.
Great review! What kinda stand you use to keep up at angle? It's a heavy beast.
I put a link in the description for you
Ordered mine almost a year ago. I hope it arrives soon!
Just recieved an email stating that mine should be here by Wednesday. . Been waiting for too long.

Will these be available in 3 years time or will production eventually stop?
Excellent
Yo bro, what do u do when it freezes. My has frozen in the middle of a project. I had to cut it off and start over and lost everything
never had that happen to me. but I'd say make sure U have the latest firmware on it. they update pretty regularly.
I'd contact the guys who made it, rather than a dude on TH-cam
Yea it looks dope, if you ever get it.

when should it be preferred over the Elektron Octatrack?
octatrack gots nothing on this.
Sold all my other gear all is left is s2400, kordbot, turntable, and Yamaha motif XS

Too much money for what you get but the unit looks and sounds nice. Drop it to around £600 and it could sell like hot cakes.

8 voices of polyphony by today's standards are TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE! The unit looks beautiful though. Enjoy it!
Great maschine but it sounds nothing like sp 1200 dude sp sounds so dusty and punchy
