What a hauntingly beautiful song, taking us back to a time when we laughed, and dallied in the sunshine days of our youth. How wistful are our memories now… and how could we forget?
This mighty song takes me back to those good ol days at the homeplace where I grew up. So so powerful, deep and rich in memories and meaning..Thank You for the posting....
Love all of it: his lyrics, his music, his voice, his picking. First time I heard him, I said to myself "come on, start again singing and playing" (at this time, for some reason, the vital energy of making music had left me for a while...) Thanks Richard
I'm 63, just recently really listened, totally hooked, i will do some of his tunes in my performances now. Amazing what the techniques he uses can do to your heart when you sit back and hear it.
My favorite songwriter. Privileged to see him live recently and talk to him after the show. Very personable and pleased to hear that I play this song out. I do it in standard tuning, Em, fingerstyle. Sooooo pretty!
Thanks for sharing this, and "Thank you!" to Richard for creating such a fine song. His "Hazel's House" is another one that resonates for me in a similar way.
im 14 and ive been addicted to richard since i was in about 1st grade. i love his ability to do amazing picking and sing at the same time. one of my idols :)
I saw him last night at Bocelli's on the Canal in Bellows Falls, VT and didn't play this song. I was terribly sad about it. Not sure I would have gone so far out of my way to see him had I known...
All are his own. He lives way up north and deep in the south on this one album alone. A teller of the american experience none can compare to. Total 5*****
yes, the show i saw was awesome, too. antje d played with him a bit too which was sweet. sorry for not sounding more positive... i would love a recording of these songs at this show. he was spot on.

Featuring Byron Isaacs on bass.
I bought my aunts old country home and restored it. Outside are the sycamores and wisteria wines. I have but to close my eyes..........so beautiful.

So beautiful. Wondering what the guitar is tuned to.
Beautiful guitar music.
Very unique guitar style!!!
Is there any name for this style?
Is this his own style or someone's else?
Amazing:)
My wife and I are about to move across the country... I've always been a fan of this song, but now it's even more poignant for us.
Thanx for your information. :-)
But I think he used flat picking not finger picking.
Maybe I'm wrong 'cause I don't have a good eyes.
As Bob Dylan sai "I wish I was back in that room again" memories
hahaha thats funny thats my moms name, I never knew she was named after a song....I love my mom...Wisteria or mom as i call her.
Beautiful song, even with the suboptimal recording.
