    we really need to hear the judges speak about who they think filled and didn't fill zone 2 (multiple times one driver gets called out for it on their lead run while the other driver doesn't get called out for it on his lead run by the commentators).... also fd needs to come up with rules on left foot breaking.... it creates more smoke from the rear wheels which could be used as a tactic to blind drivers... speaking of a tactics that are extremely dirty and obvious lead runs going shallow on zone 2 in order to gain a lot of speed and make the chase driver follow them as much as they could just so they can slow down to an immense amount for absolutely no reason other than to trip up the following driver, this was done by multiple people here, all the drivers know how important the lead run is most would not choose to go shallow on a zone or completely miss it unless it provided an advantage to them or an extreme disadvantage to the follower.... doing that is just as bad if not worst than skipping zone 1 to gain proximity because then they are doing something that is more likely to cause a collision as an outcome and you guys are calling the people skipping zone 1 cheaters. I think ppl complaining about the judges are taking it too far, they are doing the best the could and them using the rules as much as they can is their way of not getting slack for a decision (like the unlikely to cause any unsettlement tab to Forsberg)

    • @formuladrift
      @formuladrift  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I try not to say what’s in drivers heads. The course is hard enough as it is, we shouldn’t automatically assume a mistake = a driver tactic. One thing that is not likely to change is the drivers overwhelmingly voted to allow for left foot braking because it’s a tool to control these crazy cars. It doesn’t necessarily result in more wheel speed but often used for control and how much smoke a cars makes or doesn’t make would also not be well received by the drivers. Rules are often written and dictated by drivers themselves. That’s one of the reasons why we got rid of the front brakes lights. It was confusing fans.

    • @kasimahmed8858
      @kasimahmed8858 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey, I'd like to ask and try understand something better. Will try my best to explain.
      Specifically its regarding outside zones where a lot of smoke is created by the leader. Eg OZ1 at St. Louis or OZ4 here at Texas.
      In these types of long and and big smoke zones if the leader driver is shallow (a mistake) it can often blind the chase driver who is correctly deep into the zone. Which may lead to either a big loss in proximity or an incomplete from the chaser.
      How much fault is given or can be given to lead driver in this scenario?
      I realise that it would be difficult to give fault or incomplete to the leader in this case, but it would also be a big mistake made from them.
      I also realise that it's the chase drivers job to mimic, so if the leader is shallow then the chase guy put to mimic that. I'm sure you realise though that the peeds and reactions required often means these adjustments are difficult for the chaser if the leader goes shallow. So how much penalty can the leader get for this?
      Hope that makes sense

    • @formuladrift
      @formuladrift  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@kasimahmed8858 Makes total sense. If the lead driver does that, yes it is a mistake and that chase driver is expected to adapt as best they can. Certainly, the expectation of adapting will depend on what’s going on with the cars and the track. OZ4 at TX is a long sweeper and so there is more time to see the leads mistake and adapt to stay out of the smoke line. On the other hand, a quick transition from a high speed section, like the power alley to IC1 at Seattle, there’s gonna be less reaction time. Think Vaughn and JTP. In that scenario Vaughn is less expected to also make a big mistake and follow JTP off course because it’s so fast and he’s in proximity. And to conclude every mistake in itself will be measured comparably to the other drivers mistakes in that same area and generally. Finally, the lead driver has responsibilities and his mistakes will weigh on what the chase driver does. That is taken into each situation. Hope that helps.

    • @kasimahmed8858
      @kasimahmed8858 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah that helps, thank you. I was also thinking about that area in Seattle being one with less reaction time for the chaser guy to adapt so good you brought it up haha.
      Am I right in saying that the initiation to outer clip 1 in st louis is also an area like that where the chase car has less time to react? An example of this that I had in mind was Aasbo's lead run at st.louis this year round 2 in the top 32 where he was shallow in OZ1 after initiation which (if I'm not mistaken) lead to the chase car (who I believe was on the correct line) getting lost in the smoke and going off track.. I feel this this is tricky though because although it was arguably fredrics mistake that lead to Adam's inconplete, it would be difficult to penalise fredric? Unless fault for the incomplete was given to fredric.. or maybe more fair than that a omt.
      I guess I feel that might be a grey area potentially but yeah a tricky one

      @@brandenburns3322 Found this for you: However, the torque unit is often still referred to as the foot-pound (ft⋅lbf), and sometimes more specified as "foot-pound of torque". Similarly, an inch-pound (or pound-inch) is the torque of one pound of force applied to one inch of distance from the pivot, and is equal to 112 of a pound-foot.

      @@formuladrift I think we are getting away from what I was noting. At some point of the broadcast, Jared was giving hp and torque (stat) numbers being made by said car. Something on the lines of, "making 1000 torque, pound of foot." (Sorry I wish I could find it; to time marker.) It should be, "producing 1000 pound force of feet." If it were torque he was referring. Sorry about all this, something about announcers using incorrect English practices sticks out to me. I've been hearing it being used incorrectly a lot, not just here, but many videos in the industry.

  • @TheDerpyGrandma
    @TheDerpyGrandma 3 ปีที่แล้ว +17

    It's becoming increasingly difficult to enjoy watching these runs, when you have biased judges who seemingly judge with their heads up their ass. They LET Forsberg ruin runs and let him play it all dirty. He over rotates and the judges quickly look for a reason to blame it on the other driver. It was also like this yesterday and it's embarrassing to watch. Forsberg is literally the least sportsmanlike driver I've seen in a very very long time. Please do something about this...
    "It's not favoritism". You're literally lying to our faces?!!
    In snowboarding some of the points are style and attitude. Drifting is also one of those style sports, and Forsberg has 0 style. He just wants to exploit his favoritism to win in any way he can. It's toxic, and ruins the sport.

    • @Adr1anB0
      @Adr1anB0 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Everyone is entitled to their opinion. I've read yours and now I'll add mine. I don't think it's straight up fair to say that they quickly looked for a reason to assign blame to Odi. Cris spun yes and like in previous competitions that I've watched, the judges looked to see if the other driver did anything that in any way contributed to the spin. The video is right there for us to go back and rewatch where they slowed it down and you can see that there was contact. Rule wise, contact at that point is a no-no.

    • @Adr1anB0
      @Adr1anB0 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm no drifter so I don't know what a little tap can and can't do. But, thinking about it, a drift is a control slide and any external factor can affect that slide. If there was no contact and he still spun and Odi got blamed then fine, I'd be complaining too but it's just a situation where rules take precedence. If the judges ignored the rule then someone else would post something similar that rules are being bent to favor Odi but it's not the case. Everything is subjective.

      A little bump like that would normally not do much id imagine, but his car was just beginning to transfer weight to the right, odi bumped in the left rear, pushing Chris's rear to the right, adding to the force of the weight transferring which caused him to slightly over rotate. These guys are already trying to put their cars on the limits, that little bump sent him a little over the limit.
