  • The Keychron Q11 is their first split keyboard and something I've been anticipating for a while.

    Nice job on the video. I started down the rabbit hole on custom mechanical keyboards about a year ago. Now I have 5. I like the looks of this. I am curious about the split experience

      It's quite the rabbit hole indeed. Got another keyboard today with a sixth arriving on Monday but then I have to stop for. awhile to catch up with content. The split experience is enjoyable so far but the "problem" I've found with this one is that I can slide it back together very easily and I'm back to having a regular keyboard whenever I want. I started this reply on the combined keyboard but split it halfway through.

    I watched a few of your videos, and thank you for not pushing keyboards that you get free. I never trust those reviews. I purchased several keyboards and modded them, but then I got wrist pain. I went to an Alice 60 percent keyboard (pain free), but it was lacking major buttons I need. I went to MicroCenter today and almost got this keyboard in this video. I got the Keychron v10 Max and very pleased with it. Never going back to a standard keyboard.

      This Q11 is pretty great but I do love a solid Alice layout too. Good choice on the V10, I think they V keyboards are the best value out there!

    hey buddy! thanks for the review! considering this one as my first mech keyboard.
    please help me on my questions
    is the cord type c to type c?
    does it have bluetooth function?
    does it work even if you only use the first half?

      Hello! This is a great first board because it can fit together like a normal board.
      Yes, it is type c to type c.
      No, it does not have Bluetooth or other wireless connectivity.
      Yes, you can use one half only or even plug them in separately!

    What switches are those? They sound pretty good, the stock or the Panda switches?

      These were the stock reds, I'm working on an update with the Panda which I really like a lot!

    Thanks for the video!
    A previous split keyboard I had had terrible latency. Essentially, the right half was supposed to be the 'master', with the left plugging into it via a bridge cable. It had terrible lag. Key presses from the left would be registered with a delay. For example, when I type 'to', I do so near instantaneously, because that's what independent fingers are for. However, with that keyboard, the left half's 't' reached the right half, its master, late, and 'ot' would be sent to the computer ('o' being on the right half and thus sent out without delay). An infuriating experience, made typing impossible frankly.
    Does the Q11 suffer a similar fate?

      @KeebHoarder  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Not at all! I think the fact that it's always plugged in serves me well but I have never experienced latency from this keyboard except when I'm using it on my old iMac in the basement that doesn't really have enough memory.

    I wonder why they decided against an ortho-linear layout for an ergo-keyboard. That would have made it so much better. Hope they do not remove the second knob in a reiteration, as the 2 layers is not enough for all the great possibilities that come with a knob.

    • @KeebHoarder
      @KeebHoarder  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      For real, I think they limit the knobs a little but I'm glad to have two of them. I'd be so down for a Keychron Ortho board.

    Why didn't they send a coiled cable for the middle?

    • @KeebHoarder

      That's a great question...I need to post my full review of this keyboard asap

    How does it feel compared to the low profile keychron?

    • @KeebHoarder
      @KeebHoarder  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It pretty close but I still needed a wrist rest for long typing sessions because you still have regular switches and even with low pro caps it was higher than my K7

    I don’t like the keyboard with the 6 at the left, make me miss type 4,5 and 6.

    Without a tenting option I can hardly see the point. That's half the point of split keyboards.

    • @KeebHoarder
      @KeebHoarder  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I like it as an intro into more ergo boards but I don't know if I'll go much farther than this.

    If only it wasn't an integrated plate

    • @KeebHoarder

      There were a couple “if onlys” with that one and I ended up trading it in for a Q1

      @@KeebHoarder aye I don't think I could go without a split spacebar (with 1.25u on the left, not middle or right) though, and in the current market that unfortunately really only leaves me with 1-2 choices, and for a while it was looking like this might be another choice
