Certainly the X Games started hitting its stride. I thought it was great they added Supercross and Supermoto, but after they went away, I officially lost interest in the X Games since Freestyle is basically dead.
@lol Totally. I have to admit I lost interest in FMX after Travis initially left, and I found more fun in a Supercross race than a 95-second-run. You're welcome for the post. :)
I remember all those for sure. It's hard to believe that the flips were being talked about before the new millennium and the flips came to reality around this time.
@@KizzaHigh_OCTANE_HSV Yes it was. Back then, Travis Pastrana attacked the track like he were racing, and by the time others figured out his tricks, Travis made some new ones. It wasn't long ago that nac-nacs, whips, no-hander landers, nothings, and fender-grabs scored really high; today, it seems like FMX is officially dead.
fuck, I can't belive this was 13 years ago..I was there when I was 9. I remember being the one that won two xgames skateboard decks out of everyone there, still have them too.
Imagine if the Og's would have got the Flip down as in Dayne Kinnaird doing a Double mc Metz to Heel clicker backflip or Clifford's Cat Walk flip or Even Drake's Dead Body Flip. Who I wonder would have had the Sickest flip combo?.
Dayne Kinnaird was a sick rider and I remember seeing the no handed catwalk in a video somewhere, had a freerider mx magazine with him on a yamaha with crusty demons graphics on it 🏍️🇦🇺👍
Thank you so much for posting this! You are jesus! Where did you find thoses old x games videos? and do you have more years, like 2002, 2004, 2005 or 2006 ? Thank you so much!
(Old reply must have gotten wiped out.) You're very welcome. I have these X Games stuff on VHS tapes, and I copied them to blank CDs; it's a good thing I did that when I did because the DVD/VCR machine I used broke down recently.
@@MathewVsSportsMediaandGames for sure. I mean looking at what the average Moto guys accomplish after they retire and where Travis is at definitely speaks for itself.
No doubt about it. Some might say that Travis might've not realized his true potential in racing; I do still believe that the only thing that Travis really "gave" was a personality you just can't beat.
I think people would like it since Freestyle is pretty much dead in terms of new tricks (at least I'm pretty sure anyway). On that note, Jeremy McGrath Supercross World for the PS2 and Gamecube can fall in that category since I tried it out and when you're airborne, it's stunt A first, then stunt B next.
I liked Jerry Bernardo commentating for X Games, too. 1999 X Games was the best one, as well as the 1998 Freestyle MX Challenge. That guy's never short of spunk -- you gotta give him that.
why did all the ogs like adoptante, kinnaird, windham, urek, rourke, jones, vines, clowers, link, parsons, miller, sieg, gustin, sterner, olson, pastor, metzger, manley, beelart, wyatt, leyba, all dissapeared from the sport and even cameras. was it because of the backflip.
Not one bit; I thought Metzger retired... Jones I know was thrown in jail a few years ago (diagnosed w/ bipolar disorder in 2007). My theory is that the danger level was getting so high and they weren't willing to go for more.
I've heard of almost all of them... but I don't know why Jake Windham isn't in the game anymore... Jesse Olson, never heard of him... just about everyone else, I've heard of, but no idea what they're up to.

These were the days...this was one of the best Moto-X events ever for sure!! Nate got robbed and Deagan surprised everyone and did the 360 first.
Yes they were -- when Freestyle was 3 notches safer than today.
Good times!!! These were the days! Seemed way more fun and live back then
No disagreements there. This was also when Freestyle was "safer" too.

best FMX course to date. by far.
I've seen a few good ones myself, but I'd tend to agree with all the stuff out there. :)
+MathewV21688 Yeah, the courses back then had so much creativity.
Greg Myers I thought the 1998 Freestyle course in Vegas was a good course itself
+MathewV21688 I couldn't tell ya what that looked like. :)

Miss seeing so many right-side-up tricks too. Everyone just does flips today. While it's cool, I miss seeing this

I think it'd have made things very interesting. I wondered why those guys were not out there, unless Jones already retired as an FMX athlete.
