I think the obvious exclusions were Kurosawa, Hitchcock, Tarkovsky, and to a lesser extent, Spielberg, Wilder, etc. Nonetheless, a respectable top 10. Cheers
Perhaps even John Ford seeing how inspirational he was. Obviously I'm missing some and can't include everyone. German expressionist directors. Directors that pushed the envelope such as Orson Welles. The list goes on.
This is his top 10, not yours, nor mine. Why is it on every one of these types of videos, there's always this sort of obnoxious comment? As if he has to absolutely adore the same exact damn things as every other movie snob. (btw, Tarkovsky is also one of my fav's, and Kurosawa is great too, so don't think I'm just some contrarian prick who's just trying to be contrarian. This damn attitude is just driving me nuts).

In my opinion: 1. Kubrick 2. Kurosawa 3. Bergman 4. Scorsese 5. Hitchcock 6. Wilder 7. Kobayashi 8. Tarkovsky 9. Coppola 10. Spielberg This is actually an objective(as much as i can) top 10,cause my favourite directors change by the day...Kubrick has always been my No 1 tho.
I guess for me my top 3 favorites would be Kubrick (everybody knows why), Sergio Leone( I just love his style of filmmaking and he has Made some of my all time favorites) and scorcese ( he has made so many films nearly hasn't missed yet with one. And also are a lot of his films objectively considered in the top 100 films of all time).
My top 10: 1) Kubrick 2) Kurosawa 3) Andrei Tarkovsky 4) Scorsese 5) Denis Villeneuve 6) Hitchcock 7) John Ford 8) David Fincher 9) Wong Kar-wai 10) Terrence Malick
In my opinion James Cameron is highly underrated. In only 9 films in his filmography this man produced 3 of the top 4 Highest grossing movies ever made Avatar, Avatar way of water, and Titanic that’s very hard to do. Made 2 of the 3 greatest movies sequels and action sci-fi films ever made Terminator 2: judgement day and Aliens. And has made some other great films as well only has 1 film in his 9 that is bad and that’s Pirañas 2 the spawning a film he was only on for a week other than that his filmography is near perfect in only 9 films 💯🔥👌🏿
I might be dumb asf for this but Tarantino easily makes my number 1 director simply because no one can make a movie so fucking enjoyable while still giving us quality content like Kill Bill or Django Unchained both being massively enjoyable in a simple little revenge plot and pays off in the ending every time. I don’t think one Tarantino movie ended poorly or disappointing.
No one cares, but my list: 1. Quentin Tarantino 2. Wes Anderson 3. Paul Thomas Anderson 4. Wim Wenders 5. Wong Kar-Wai 6. Andrei Tarkovsky 7. Martin Scorsese 8. Coen Bros. 9. Jean-Luc Godard 10. Martin McDonaugh 11. Pedro Almadovar 12. Kevin Smith 13. David Fincher 14. Ingmar Bergman 15. Woody Allen H.M.: Akira Kurosawa Hal Ashby Jacque Tati Sam Peckinpah
i'm sorry but if you're doing a top 10 filmmakers you can't put just a director you have to include all writer directors as a writer director myself its so superior to being just a director
this list is bad simply because it didn't include Tarkovsky when he is by far the best philosophical director and is miles ahead of all of these guys besides maybe Bergman in which tarkovsky is still slightly better. and also not including Kurosawa is ridiculous. He is even vastly known among English speaking film fans. Film bros are getting out of hand.
It’s a favourite director list. Kurosawa was close to mine, but I’m not so keen on Tarkovsky. Understand that within art, it will always be subjective.
Important to note that these are my top 10 FAVOURITE directors.
A bit clickbait ahah

A LIST WITHOUT SATYAJIT RAY
Amazing list. For me Villeneuve and Nolan would still be on there. Call me a casual, but their movies really spoke to me
Kubrick would probably be my number 1 as well. Hitchcock and woody Allen would get in there for me as well
What about Satyajit Ray? Your list is eurocentric

Nolan should get that 10th spot he is unique and will become one of the greatest when he retires
nothing should happen with this list, its his and it will always be his
