i did mine myself with dip and they are 1.5 inches long had them in for 3 weeks now - no lift, no breaking and i lift and have hit them during this time.
They look so good! I love SNS nails. I bought the Kiara Sky kit from Amazon and it’s amazing it’s really easy to use. I had trouble with polygel nails and the dip powder kit is really simple

Personally, I find SNS stronger than an acrylic overlay or shellac. To be fair, I don’t usually have fake tips. But as someone who uses their hands a lot, picks at their nails and is fairly busy, it holds up really well!
I also love that the colour is built in, so it won’t fade or look messy/ chipped 3 weeks in. Usually salons in my area don’t use coloured acrylic powder so it’s usually just regular nail varnish.

Powder gel is my fave. Less stressful on your nails compared to the other gel manicures. This is also the best nails I’ve seen you get done professionally IMO. She did a fantastic job. I’m sad she’s not in nyc 😩😩😩😩
She did a really great job. Hard to find a tech that does such a good job. Especially on ombre.
I’ve been doing sns with super long tips for about 7 months and I do a lot of hands on work and have only had one breakage, I think it’s a good option and completely fine to get long tips

I actually get sns dip nails because I work with my hands a lot (knives/heavy boxes/machine maintenance on the daily)....granted I don't get extensions, but I find they keep up stronger (and don't chip) for when I have to work hard but also meet with clients and look professional.

for reference, if you get dip powder nails, they are actually one of the strongest forms you can get on your nails on the market right now. I work in a jail and I have dip powder nails with tips on 85% of the time with little to no issues.
You should try the apres gel extensions. They’re great when you want to grow out your nails and you get a new set every time you need a fill.

Love your nail videos! Just a few terms to be corrected, SNS is a brand of dip powder/nail products and not a method(dip powder). Also the step after she dipped your nails is called the activator which hardens the dip.
I don’t expect anyone to know the terms, but I’m stating so people learn the terms.

For the curve that you were talking about... I think that if you ask them to pinch the sides of your nails *slightly* just after they apply the activator it will help to give that curved look that you’re looking for. 😊
I’ve seen it done on my nails when I got dip at the salon and I’ve done that on my nails as well when I do my own dip powder sets and it helps.

However dip doesn’t contain the same ingredients and so far I have no issues.
I’ve been getting Sns for a few months now and I love it. I get it on my natural nails they have grown so much. Next time I’m going to do ombré... which I would normally get with acrylic so I’m happy to know it can be done with SNS

It looks like she was trying to taper in the square instead of regular square.... also sns is its own brand , dip is the process itself. Most of the walk in salons do whatever they feel like doing, not what you actually want 😂😂😂 but they’re fast
She uses the drill in that direction bc that’s the direction the drill rotates. It has a setting for forward motion and reverse motion.
I’m watching this because I literally JUST got my dip powder. My Aunty works in a nail shop so she was able to do mine. I’m in the back on the couch rn lol 😂

Licensed tech in SC and i find that dip powder is better when shorter because of the strength, but as long as you arent in a heavy duty job then theyre fine when theyre long. Just make sure the tech can build an apex for strength using dip, if you get it. And also, dont let them dip straight out of the container. Normally there should be a recycle system that they can pour onto your nails instead then whatever is left over should be thrown away.

I love sculpted nails, but I guess it’s not possible here otherwise it would ruin the whole point of saving your nails the damage later on/using powder. Cant wait to try this!

As a licensed nail technician, dip powder, the way she is doing it, is very unsanitary. If the person before you had fungus on their finger and dipped their nail in that jar, it is now contaminated. Some places will use a separate container and pour over your nail and as long as they throw it away, then it is sanitary. Dip powder nails is more or less just gluing acrylic powder on your nails. I wouldn’t say it is or is not more damaging than any other nail technique.

As a nail tech you should know that dipping powder is not an environment where bacteria can grow.

Dip is different to Acrylic. Its great for if you have thin nails that don't wear Gel well or you wanting a thinner nail. Acrylic is definitely for longevity when they are done right. Alot of technicians don't do the acrylic properly and end up destroying the natural. its really down to a technicians forte. But as a FYI SNS is a brand of dipping powders etc, its not the procedure. I use SNS, its amazing but it looks like you technition wasnt using SNS in general. She looked like she was using a SNS base and Chisel powders. You get this in alot of places and generally there isnt a problem with mixing brands. I will tell you though, adhering brands are designed to be used with thier own brands. youll find different powders will act differently with the bases etc thus sometimes causing thicker nail, dryer nail etc and sometimes it can be the cause of a shorter wear of the nail and lifting. when a nail tech trains they are trained in a service and recommended to keep this service within the brand they are trained in. I.e SNS uses SNS product. Gelish uses Gelish Product and so on. She did do a beautiful job though and honestly i think proceedure wise she was fine. regarding your shape, ask for square, that should give you what you were after, techs can also use a pinching tool to give you that curve if they have one :D

no offense to you or the nail tech, I'm confused cause i feel like i see on the internet everywhere that you aren't supposed to dip your nails in the powder b/c it can infect your cuticles? i mean how serious is that, is the powder just for you? thanks for posting the video, the nails look nice.

with sns, do not get them super long. i had mine for literally one day and one cracked and my nail started bleeding and the same thing happened again 2 days later

She cut away the sides because you asked for a coffin nail shape. Also its a lot easier to file them when the nails are flat rather than them having a strong c curve
No nail technique last more than 3 days for me cause they chip 🙄 everyone says it’s cause I wash my hands too much for work 🤷🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️
I'm a nurse and dip powder is the only technique that lasts for me. I don't add a tip.

Do people realize dip power and acrylic powder are literally the same thing. Dip powder is just a finer acrylic power and it's applied with resin instead of with a brush and monomer
So are extension tips with dip powder good for your nails? Are they as damaging as acrylics or they are better for your nails?
I'm not sure about sns dip powder but, I get gel dip powder with extensions and they are not nearly as damaging as acrylic extensions! I hope that helped a little!
Maaula products themselves usually aren’t damaging. It’s the prep, application, finishing, or removal that damages the nail plate.

What’s the differences between dip and gel? I wanna try dip, but gel is the only thing that has ever lasted on me since I do combat sports.
I would stick with gel. In school to be a nail tech and with gel your able to build an apex which gives strength to the nail, when you dip you have no support at all.

I love SNS BUT it always crack. It's really annoying because I pay $40 but cracks once I get home. Any advice? Or should I tell to do it a certain way?
sarah godwill I’ve never experienced cracking! I wonder if they dehydrated the nail and when the do the base layer, do they do 1/4 of the nail then half of the nail then the full nail? In my experience, this is the method they used for the base layers and then they go into the actual sns color! Hope this helps!
