    Those other stumps, why are they so high? Do you have some issues with your knees?

  • @MrThenry1988
    @MrThenry1988 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    That Wedge was awful deep. Flatten out that back cut.
    Was wondering why the stump is so high. I've done clearing work where the operators coming in wanted them high so they could work them out.

    Don’t lie to this youngster. Not good job. Waaaaay to deep. A good strong gust and that tree could break over backwards. Never a reason to notch this deep. Heavy leaner bore cut. Just trying to keep you alive Bro

      @WhackinAxes  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I agree with you completely man, I didnt mean to get that deep and I was trying to keep them shallower.

      @@WhackinAxes you’ll be good. You have the most important trait . Willingness to learn and never show off in the woods. Been cutting timber 30 years and learn something new all the time.

    Try cutting in horizontally ⅓ while aiming where you want to drop it. Now with your saw in the tree and having the visual on position, pull it out quick and slice down on an angle to meet that last position.
    Then for backcut, cut in level with notch level cut leaving parallel hinge material. Once tree starts going, get out the way!!

      This is really great advice. Exactly what I was going to say.

    • @evergreenorganics
      @evergreenorganics ปีที่แล้ว

      Also the thickness of your holding wood is the diameter of the tree at breast height in inches. Example a 2.5 foot diameter tree at breast height needs 2.5 inches of holding wood as a general rule of thumb. Too much holding wood on hardwoods can increase risk of barber chair. Just some food for thought. You’re doing great.
