    About Cesar Jung-Harada
Cesar Jung-Harada is a Singapore-based French-Japanese designer, environmentalist, educator and entrepreneur. With ongoing research and development on renewable energy sources and environmentally sustainable sea transport, he regularly delivers workshops for organisations such as the World Wildlife Fund and National Geographic and has delivered keynotes at international conferences organised by the United Nations, Harvard University, and TED. Cesar is currently Associate Professor of Design at the Singapore Institute of Technology and a candidate Ph.D. in Design and Ocean Innovation at the National Conservatory of Arts and Crafts (Conservatoire national des arts et métiers) (France). He is also the Founder of MakerBay Group (Hong Kong Makerspace) and Scoutbots (Ocean Robotic Startup) and serves as a Trustee of the board of Hamad Bin Khalifa University (Qatar) and the Wyng Foundation (Hong Kong).
Through his practice, Cesar aims to empower all, especially the young, in putting creativity into action, to produce climate crisis solutions. He strongly believes in having art and science research be open source, for all to work collaboratively, building upon each other’s knowledge and experience, to turn sustainable futures into present reality. He is ArtScientist-In-Residence at ArtSceince Museum from 2023-2024.
    About the Residency
During his time at ArtScience Museum, Cesar will work closely with the community to see the progression of Ocean Imagineer - his biodiversity project launched in 2021. Visitors can become "Imagineers" and join the exploration for four ongoing projects: Ocean Solar Hydrogen, Shape Shifting Sailing (Protei), Ocean Train and Indigenous Future Outrigger.
Ocean Solar Hydrogen aims to provide clean energy to coastal communities by using solar power to produce hydrogen gas from seawater.
Shape Shifting Sailing (Protei) aims to formulate new sea transport designs, inspired by nature, which focuses on energy efficiency.
Ocean Train aims to scale sea shipping globally in an energy efficient and environmentally responsible manner, through adopting the principles of freight trains at sea.
Indigenous Future Outrigger aims to integrate local ship-building customs and high-tech sailing technology, to design sea vessels that merge technological advancement and cultural significance.
