Alistair McGowan is a true gent, I was sat opposite him on a train back in about 2006 and he was so down to earth and nice for a TV personality. Hope he is well.

Personally I'd say Alistair McGowan is the BEST OF ALL TIME.....that I've seen anyway, over the last fifty years of enjoying impressionists.
George Galloway - excellent Rory. Even had Alistair laughing.
I met Rory once at cricket match, he started doing Benaud,,, David Gower was standing nearby, roaring with laughter!

Wonderful to see this. Thank you for uploading. I feel almost privileged to have seen even this glimpse of what impressionists think about. And to have it from those two in particular...well, I had thought it would be too much to hope for.

This is like those scenes in movies/animes where the amateur protagonist seeks assistance from the elder gurus/masters. McGowan and Bremner are absolute beasts!
Amazing. And that Dara at the start is absolutely perfect. It's Dara! My eyes are telling me no, but my brain is telling me yes.
Impressionists are always more entertaining and impressive OUTSIDE of the typical shows they appear in.
Culshaw & Stephenson make the mistake of spending 5hrs in make-up, to deliver a silly punchline, when it's intonation, rhythm, emphasis and uniquely recognizable traits that make a great (and hilarious) impression.
Frank Skinner doesn't have a black musketeers goatee & tache, and yet McGowan here, really nails it.
Both are legends!
Biggest laugh was at the end... when Nish Kumar said he was a 'Comedian'! 'You can say it all you want Kumar... never going to come true'!
You really have to be born with a gift.
This was fascinating viewing! Great to see how much thought and analysis goes in to a good impression

2:05 - Dara O'Briain has a little bit of a Jay Leno trait in his speaking. If you listen here to Alistair doing Dara's "explaining" it sounds like Leno's pitch too.
Stephen Moss is a great guy. Read his book 'The Rookie', about his adventures as an amateur, competing, chess player.

Has there ever been a show involving all of Bremner, Culshaw, McGowan, Ravens, Stephenson and Ancona?
I did recently see a YT video of Alistair doing a brilliant impression of the late Michael Parkinson interviewing Rory, John and Ronni as themselves, discussing their impressions.
Very clever men.

Mike Yarwood had people with original personalities in the 70s! McGowan and Bremner grew up in an era of people with zero personalities ,hence why its more difficult now! Mmm Betty!
