Good question! The trees are made of floats that sit on top of the plain weave fabric, so they are really prominent. The dots, being picked up behind the heddle, are less prominent as they are woven into the fabric. Hope that makes sense!

Cause i can only find draft tutorial about how to read one or what you get if you put the shaft this way and tie them up this way. But nothing about how to create one from a design and finding the shaft position based on it. Thank you^^

I keep trying this one (this is only my second weave so it's possible I'm missing something) and while I'm fairly confident in my skills and ability to get this right I'm having a rough go of it. I have the same number you have and everything else has worked so far. The part I keep messing up is starting the trees. How is your yarn catching? The way it continues to turn out for me, my white yarn (similar light/dark combo as you) never catches on the edge. It's passing under those first 6 threads. The same goes for the other end. What am I missing in this part?
Hi Kelly. I’d like to weave a set of six placemats using your pretty snowy winter tree pattern. I made the mistake of warping the width of each mat at 17” - but of course I should have warped the length of each mat at 15” so that the fringe falls at each side of the mats instead of at the top and bottom. 😕 But this will require a 4.5 - 5 yd warp, which I’m afraid might be too much for my 19” Glimakra Emilia to handle. Do you think a 5 yd. warp is too much? Perhaps I should warp for 3 mats and then rewarp for 3 more? Then again, this change would orient the trees in a right-pointing direction on each mat. Ugh. Thinking now I should just weave the table runner 😂 and forget the placemats!
Bonnie, I can't comment directly on your loom as I haven't used a Glimakra, but if it were me using my Ashford, I would separate the warps into two. You can change the directions your trees are facing by reversing the weaving steps, if you need to.

Hi Cheryl, I'm not sure that I understand your question about weaving in the white after the second dot line - could you expand on that? I'm sorry, I don't have a video on how to draw the draft, but for this style of weaving I always start with graph paper. I colour in boxes to make the shapes I want and that way I can get a pretty good idea as to whether the design is going to translate well or not.
I understand it is just a sample. Just wondering how many warp threads you were using in the sample. I was going to try the same size and wanted to thread the same number of warp threads.
I haven't tried it, but you could always pick up in front of the reed in the same way. It's interesting watching traditional European weaving - sometimes they pick up in front and sometimes at the back. I'll try to find you a link as an example.

you could do it with the trees if the trees where green on one side and white on the other they could share the blue sky :)

So, you're chasing each white row with a background row? Make these 2 go around each other at the selvedge so that they catch. Does that make sense?

Why do you have flat sticks along the bottom of the weave? When would you use them?
They are warp separators, they stay in place after they do the initial job of helping to even out the warp.

This was just a sample piece, I'm afraid I didn't count repeats or warp threads.

OK, well I'm thinking that with the 10 dent reed, 4ply (fingering) cotton it was 100 ends - around 10 inches wide. Hope that helps.

why you need to put two rules before your first warft
That is to separate and align the warp threads before beginning to weave.
The Bible forbade mixing fibers (wool and linen I think specifically). Old Testament law.
Yes, Deuteronomy and Leviticus both have instructions for not sowing fields with 2 different seeds and not wearing a garment made with mixed fibers.
