This is great info!!! I have been fighting with the kontakt noire which is kinda naturally muddy sounding. I have been looking for ways to give it more presence.
While watching your video I turned on automatic subtitles on youtube and every time you talk about "crispiness" youtube in subtitles instead of "crispiness" shows "chris penis"... I was so confused when i saw it for the first time hahahah But its great tutorial anyway!
Thanks!! Guitar EQ... Perhaps you already have a video on the topic this is my first time to come to your channel and I really enjoyed it I really enjoyed your simplified method of teaching.
You're welcome! Here is our video on Acoustic Guitar th-cam.com/video/_EZRkTU8fd8/w-d-xo.html & here is our video on electric guitar th-cam.com/video/ZjgEZ5bJuPg/w-d-xo.html
Hi Eric. I am trying editing existing piano, guitar and flute music. My goal is to make this music softER and smoothER, in order to help listeners to fall asleep. Could you please suggest a kind of "universal" plug-ins which would make the above-mentioned instruments sound softer and smoother?
Hey! I honestly think that is more of a style of playing thing more than a mixing thing. The velocity, touch, & dynamic performance would have the biggest impact. The only thing I would suggest on the mixing side is to remove harsh frequencies (usually found in the 2-3k range) remove whistle & hiss noises (usually found in the 5-10k range) and add some reverb to the flutes & guitars to make them feel "floatier" & spacious. Is the page your commenting from where you post your music or where can I find it? That sounds like music I would be interested in listening to.
Loving these videos! I'm asking if you could do a video on how to EQ an electric guitar and how to make it sit in the mix and not on top of everything else
I'm spellbound by this. I read a book with similar content, and I was absolutely spellbound. "The Art of Meaningful Relationships in the 21st Century" by Leo Flint
Hi, do you have any tips for recording electronic pianos to sound warm ? I use Sonar X3 as DAW and several plugins, but my recordings of solo piano are thin and looks plastic, looks lile mono sound. I´d like I could make it more like an acoustic piano, very warm, more wood, natual. Any ideas or plugins, compressors, exciters, any tips ?
Cut some high mid frequencies. Have to use your ear. Try scooping around 1k( maybe ) and then around 4K. Another option is to also put a high shelf on it and drop a couple of dbs starting at 4K. These are just estimates but start scooping til you have a smooth sound.
DonPedroElBuey I was using Pro-Q 2 to cut & the 550a to boost. I believe I did showcase a difference between the two with boosting the top end, just show the tone difference between the two EQs.
Hey man great video and great sounding piano also I do a lot of mixing and recording tips and tutorials on my channel so if you need any also keep up the great work man your doing great the piano sounds great and keep making great music
I’m recording a Yamaha C6, just had it tuned, still trying to get a clearer more defined bass end without sounding like a tuba. Also less mid range. Help
this is a good video to understand where the frequencies are generally but you should be putting it in context with other instruments and genres. EQ'ing has much more to do with the surrounding instruments and where you want that instrument to sit in the mix.. Thanks for sharing regardless.
So I guess I was kinda in the right direction of eqing pianos. I just would cut a lot more and raise a lot more with the middle and kinda through out the whole piano. I’d cut the main parts though of the low ends more, and up the highs. I always struggled with pianos though digitally. I don’t know why they all sound super flat, and just very muddy.
Oh so you just want a preset? well especially on piano (considering its one of the most wide ranging instruments in terms of frequencies and its involvement varyies from track to track with its purpose) THERE IS NO PRESET. You need to know the fundamentals of why you do what you do when eqing.
I have struggled with setting my equalizer for a great piano sound. You are right on with this tutorial. It worked great for me.
Glad to hear it was useful!
Good tutorial to start with. Cheers

for me I start with a pultec style eq for tonal shape and then if I hear some issues I grab the pro q. Less work ...less phase issues.
Isaac Pizarro pultecs are 🔥🔥🔥
where do you usually focus on boosting or attenuating on the Puigtecs?

How can i make piano sound soft and sweet instead of crisp?

In the last segment....where you using the UAD 550 EQ in place of the FabFilter OR in addition to the FabFilter? Thanks!

Like in 2020! Nice video
I try this and it improves it a bunch but it has a muddyness or unwanted sharpness in the 720hz range that I can't seem to do anything about.
I got that 🗣daw in me 🔥🤟
very good tutorial

really helped me! I am eqing a live recording of a piano and these techniques are extremely helpful! Especially that 500hz boxy sound, gross

What virtual piano is he using?
I don't think he is using one, he uses pre recorded samples.
Hey Realistic😁👋🏽
great ear you got there mate :)
Thank you!
Great tutorial, my piano now sounds crisp..
Glad to hear it helped!
Where is a sub harmonics :) ?
my pianbeats just sound so bad on phone speakers :(
Dude just show us the final setting for acoustic.
paxwallacejazz - Hey, thanks for watching. Do you mean acoustic guitar?

Great legs.
You've a lot of toys to play with, the image is to small, and you go to fast. Thanks for the effort.
Robert Williford not bad for giving out free content to the public though!
Thank you 🙏🏽
