My job, working for The City of Cleveland, was grass cutting vacant lots in the hood. I was on a lot of the streets in the above photos. Once I accidentally crossed into East Cleveland "WOW". The area actually looked devastated. I asked the boss, if I should cut the vacant lots on the rest of the street, he said no - that is there problem. He had a point. If I were to cut the lots, he would feel obligated to send in a trim crew. There job is to take care of the areas that a tractor cannot get into, like around trees or fences.
"There" problem. LOL. I guess it's their problem for sure. Cleveland is a shit hole, just like my city of Maple Heights. Same element. Same crime, bad roads and litter from the cretins who live there.
Show the potholes that look like meteor impact craters in East Cleveland. I hadn't seen actual littering until I started cutting through the bad areas of town. There was a huge campaign against it in the 80s. That behavior is still alive and well in the ghetto.
It always makes me sad to see this sort of thing. Some of those homes have very good people who care about their community and take care of their home in them but unfortunately there are also a lot of very bad people. As the numbers of bad people increase the good people start to leave and before you know it you are only left with bad people and the people too poor to escape. Then neighborhoods become a cancer instead of a home. Once upon a time someone loved and cared for all those homes.
Although nothing remains as I remember as things have been torn down and new things built, I lived in an apartment at E 100 & Lamont, by Charles Orr Elementary school from 1957 to 1959 between the age of 3 to 5. My parents bought a house in a new allotment in Brookpark close to the border of Middleburgh Hgts. From 1959 to 1965 were the best years of my life. When my parents decided to move to W. 112th and Detroit Ave. my life went all downhill. I hated city life and took to hopping freight trains to go on adventures. Some of the neighborhoods shown in your video are similar to those around the Detroit, Michigan areas. It is sad to see areas where people once lived and had a good life fall into such decay and become a cesspool. Most can be attributed to companies and jobs moving out to areas surrounding Cleveland and taking families with them as well. It does sadden me to watch videos like these, but thank you for putting this up.
My dad grew up on the east side in the 40s and 50s. It was a blue collared neighborhood then, alot of immigrants and factory workers. I remember he would say he felt extremely lucky that his family could afford meat at each meal because most of the neighborhood couldn't. Even though it was poor back then he showed me happy pictures of the local pool full of kids and people took pride in their lawns. He went back to his childhood home a few years back (he's in his late 70s) and felt so unsafe being there, right in front of the house he grew up in with all those happy memories.
Ya those the good old days. I often wonder who has ruined these areas. Lots of cities like this. I cant quite put my finger on it though. Well makbe in another 20 years top planners can figure out what happened when its all like this.

In all the times I've moved, this is the first time I've ever come back to someplace I've left. The Midwest cities loom like ghost towns, expect Chicago.. Detroit,Cleveland, st Louis look the same
Hell Rell Most Midwesterners have no pride and just move out of state instead of staying and bringing jobs backs and trying to make their neighborhoods better. They rather live in some low wage culturless southern hole.
Cincinnati & Dayton ain't on any ghost town shit.
@@RFJersey once the jobs are gone the city's were fucked, we just leave decay all over the planet.
