JK has said that Usher is one of his idols. So this is someone who JK would want/love to collab with. Original was good. Pop funk. I felt the usher one was more of funk rnb. The vibe changed. I do like both, but I agree, it wasn’t needed but it’s still good.

He didn’t *need* usher at all. I like the usher remix but it’s rare for me to like bts collabs when there’s an original non-feature version, solo or group. Mic drop is an obvious exception too.
I love the remix, but the original beats it by just a hair for me. I love them both and am so happy for JK getting to do a song with someone we actually have on video of him saying was a big influence for him. He immediately said “Usher” and then said “Justin Timberlake” and now he has a song with both. The video with Usher is a performance video, which is different from this. There is also a performance video of this version where you can see even more clearly the Michael Jackson influence. I’m trying to think of the song a reactor was so excited about recently because he is big into working out and he said it was definitely going on his workout playlist. I think it is “Not Today”.

I'll add a link to my replies for their live version from the last concert they did together, right after their hiatus announcement. It was a free concert held in Busan, Korea. The video has English subtitles and you'll definitely want to crank up the volume. The live version has a little more rock elements to it than the original version but the live band, the rapline, the audience and the energy during this performance is out of this world. BTW, 'Ugh' is about keyboard warriors and internet harassment.

So the fight references the two houses at war with each other etc. Not sure the concept would work with Usher in it. I prefer the original because I love JK hitting E5 in “sun” in the second verse. Usher is one of JK’s inspirations. The collab came about a week before JK’s mandatory military enlistment.

I admit when I first heard about it I was disappointed because I didn’t want JK’s Title track off of his debut album to be messed with in any way. I’m okay with it now, but I wished they would have done another song or a new song.
I prefer the remix it add some to the song but visually this is better duh because its an official video so obvious would be better visually, that one with usher is just performance video so obvious it would concentrate on the performance and them moves….. so to me the usher one is better in my ears but this one is better to look at 🤷🏾♀️
