You don't just show up and film the work, you record you arriving at a place, which shows what rig you're bringing, the state of the job currently, and it serves as am intro. When you're done we get a follow-up to see the state after you're done. I'm sure it's a ton of work, but I really makes your videos stand out. Well done, sir. There's a reason you've got so many subs.
He really does do a lot of work with the camera. He doesn't leave it at the same view for the entirety of an area he's working, he moves it to get all types of different angles. That makes the job last longer for him too getting on and off the tractors.
@@thelyingscotsman7993 yeah, if you review his older videos, you start to appreciate all the camera moving even more - Andrew often walks quite a bit to have the scene set up AND then arrives with vehicle, super easy to spot in winter videos by the footsteps and lack of tire tracks. That takes a lot of effort.

When it comes to driveway repair, skid steer usage, scraping if gravel, etc... this is probably the BEST all time for me! I am STILL rewatching this months later and still enjoying the content!
Evanscreek Brahman that’s how Labradors or labs are, which is what Levi looks like. They are water sport dogs, retrieving ducks and other fowl was something they were raised for long ago. They have thick coats to help shed water and stay warm in water. Summer heat is no fun for them so they will always look for a way to cool off.

Old school black top guy told me before he passed away some great info on pot holes and repair. You have to rip them apart. Regrade to shed water. Put some fresh stuff on top roll/compact. Great job sir.
One of the best channels on TH-cam. You gotta know that Andrew has a lot of skills, but especially social skills. It is hard to deal with customers who will make decisions that are not in their own self-interest, out of stubbornness or unwillingness to put out the money to do a job right. Andrew is very accommodating and went that extra mile to fix a problem the best he could. Undoubtedly, with a few big rains or snows, that drive is going to be in bad shape again. I'm glad these videos exist to document that AC did recommend gravel for a better fix. I hope these people don't complain in 3 months about his work.
Ruthless Goat it's a gravel drive way, no big deal. It's better than it was, it was inexspencive and fast. People on here are wierd, gravel roads always need work.
Nice one Andrew. When I first saw the tooth-bucket I was skeptical but when I saw what it did it was a great option. Some of the spots it worked perfect but where there was too little gravel it over-turned some of the dirt. It would have been better if they filled the holes with gravel and then leveled it.
At first I wondered why you took on the job when the customer dismissed your initial evaluation to import gravel but you got it done and made the customer happy , great job.

Okay, I am hooked. I have spent hours watching you clear driveways, fix motors, wave run the Hudson and even built the coolest workshop ever. . You are one very talented and resourceful guy. I love your ingenuity when tackling a problem. I would love to see all your toys and there accessories lined up in a row. It seems just when I think you have every possible machine for the job you show up with another one. LOL Would love to see a profile of your drone. You have some pretty exception aerial video's. Keep the videos coming. I am retired so have lots of time to watch them. I live in Canada and winter is coming so I will be stuck in my igloo til the spring thaw. BaaaHaaa
Showcasing the jobs you like doing is a great way to advertise and keep up the style of work. Love the intro and outro too, makes the job and video complete. The other aspect that sets your videos apart and above the herd and a lot of mainstream media is the pace with no overdone explanations of thoughts or processes, letting the visual information transfer without slowing speed, something which adds a lot to keeping the viewer remaining focused. I wouldn't change the pace btw I think you have it spot on as some media pros have stated here previously.
Ripping up the road surface is called scarifying. If the surface was not scarified to a depth below the bottom of the potholes, they will most likely reappear in the same places again. It will be interesting to see what happens next spring.
That's good info 👍 I think this driveway might have bedrock in certain areas. Might have been a lost cause without more funding to break rock and whatnot.

Levi is such a great dog. He goes and ventures around but not too far. All Mr. Andrew has to do is give a little whistle and Levi is right there. Very loyal dog to stay so close by when Andrew is on a tractor for such long periods. My dog would be in another county chasing a squirrel or deer. Great driveway fix by the way skid steer master. 👍

I have a side tilt bucket on my SS Loader, a 6in1, a precision run every time , so less frustrating, drainage and road crowning is a piece of cake. The bucket takes the machine from just fish to fish with the chips! A clever Australian Patent.

If you haven't already I HIGHLY recommend giving Levi a daily MSM/Glucosamine supplement. It has really helped my 13 y/o lab with arthritis and hip dysplasia. It took YEARS off of her. Works great for humans as well :)
Been seeing the boobcat a lot lately, I hope the blue monster (IHI) is just at another job, no matter what it’s alway great to see Levi & Andrew sharing another fun day in they’re lives. I have to wonder why people don’t listen to you when you say it needs more gravel, they are going to be calling you back after a rain storm or two for the same issue without proper rebuild of this road base. I do understand cost being an issue but in the long run fixing I right the first time will save money overall! Thanks for sharing Andrew

Anthony Hartzog the point of buying multiple identical machines is so when your machine breaks on the job you can swap it out and finish the job without delay. I’ve had to wait 2 weeks for a part on my skid steer.
Those major potholes and wash out in your video are all pretty much in shaded areas. Our gravel driveway got some potholes in the same places all the time... from overhanging tree branches. When there was a lot of rain it was like certain branches would "funnel" the downpour into certain places. Because they were shaded they wouldn't dry out as fast. We regraded and crowned every late spring and fall, and trimmed those branches... we still got some potholes but not so bad where the trimming happened.
love vids i think a good idea for a vid would be how you deal with customers who try to not pay you. and the ones who say you broke something or messed something up, that was in no way what so ever your fault
Just from my experience that is all about reading people. They usually stand out as overspending with a lavish lifestyle and their reputation precedes them. There were plenty of people I just simply refused to work for but you can't judge them all. My father had a really successful hardware store after ten years in construction and only refused service to one woman. She kept buying paint by the gallon, using half and refilling each can with water and returning it for a full refund. My father cheerfully refunded her money after figuring her scam out and took her aside and told her he could no longer afford her patronage.
He's not actually working in that cloud we see through the camera's POV the cab is a wee bit higher and somewhat further back - but you are certainly right his sinus and lungs are eating some rock and organic dust and a decent 3M respirator or its equivalent would add spring to his step and depth to his breath in twenty odd years. Somewhat like layering some loads of gravel on that drive, why not splurge the cost for the future comfort and forgo a false economy.
For sure, at the very least he should have a dust mask. People always think tis fine because they are outside but you are kicking up all kinds of shit and you are for sure breathing that in.
Love the customers who won’t pay for a load or two of gravel even though in the long run it’s cheaper than the extra time for the machine. Great job, and video 👍

The cost of maintaining a dirt road is always there. The cost of not maintaining it is offset by car repair bills, and the cost of paving it is too high initially. Pro's and con's the way life is LOL
Even if you have to open a line of credit, paving is the way to go. We paved the driveway at our cabin ~5 years ago and it has made a world of difference. Resealing every 3 years vs near constant maintenance makes it a no brainer. No more getting the tractor out and leveling it every other time we're there. No more worrying about ruts and gravel clogged culverts.

Been seeing the boobcat a lot lately, I hope the blue monster (IHI) is just at another job, no matter what it’s alway great to see Levi & Andrew sharing another fun day in they’re lives. I have to wonder why people don’t listen to you when you say it needs more gravel, they are going to be calling you back after a rain storm or two for the same issue without proper rebuild of this road base. I do understand cost being an issue but in the long run fixing I right the first time will save money overall! Thanks for sharing Andrew

The owners really need to cut down and remove all the tall grass and tree shit along the drive way and that may add better drainage as well!

Anthony Hartzog the point of buying multiple identical machines is so when your machine breaks on the job you can swap it out and finish the job without delay. I’ve had to wait 2 weeks for a part on my skid steer.
Those major potholes and wash out in your video are all pretty much in shaded areas. Our gravel driveway got some potholes in the same places all the time... from overhanging tree branches. When there was a lot of rain it was like certain branches would "funnel" the downpour into certain places. Because they were shaded they wouldn't dry out as fast. We regraded and crowned every late spring and fall, and trimmed those branches... we still got some potholes but not so bad where the trimming happened.

love vids i think a good idea for a vid would be how you deal with customers who try to not pay you. and the ones who say you broke something or messed something up, that was in no way what so ever your fault
Just from my experience that is all about reading people. They usually stand out as overspending with a lavish lifestyle and their reputation precedes them. There were plenty of people I just simply refused to work for but you can't judge them all. My father had a really successful hardware store after ten years in construction and only refused service to one woman. She kept buying paint by the gallon, using half and refilling each can with water and returning it for a full refund. My father cheerfully refunded her money after figuring her scam out and took her aside and told her he could no longer afford her patronage.

He's not actually working in that cloud we see through the camera's POV the cab is a wee bit higher and somewhat further back - but you are certainly right his sinus and lungs are eating some rock and organic dust and a decent 3M respirator or its equivalent would add spring to his step and depth to his breath in twenty odd years. Somewhat like layering some loads of gravel on that drive, why not splurge the cost for the future comfort and forgo a false economy.
The silica in the dust is the killer.
For sure, at the very least he should have a dust mask. People always think tis fine because they are outside but you are kicking up all kinds of shit and you are for sure breathing that in.
@@mikethespikemorgan Certainly is! Maybe not in 20-30 or 40 years but some time the lungs have enough and react to the irritating dust.

The cost of maintaining a dirt road is always there. The cost of not maintaining it is offset by car repair bills, and the cost of paving it is too high initially. Pro's and con's the way life is LOL
Even if you have to open a line of credit, paving is the way to go. We paved the driveway at our cabin ~5 years ago and it has made a world of difference. Resealing every 3 years vs near constant maintenance makes it a no brainer. No more getting the tractor out and leveling it every other time we're there. No more worrying about ruts and gravel clogged culverts.
This kid's amazing. Brand new vid and already me and 4000 others admit to like watching him fix potholes.
