      I have to disagree with that lol. I'm severely allergic to their sting. I was standing beside my truck fueling up at our shop and I had one to do a fly by and pop me on the neck. As soon as it stung me I slap it and the honey bee fell to the ground. I raked the stinger from my neck instantly and had to use my epi-pen.
      I didn't see it of provoke it in anyway. Guess he was just a young hot-rodder🤣

    • @random-person1
      @random-person1 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@LH-kz2nf I have a lavender bush in my front garden and every year it attracts big and little bees (they look like wasps to be honest). I sometimes spend an hour standing there just watching these bees flitting from one strand to the other. I have had them land on me or I put my hand out for them to walk from the strand onto my hand and not once have I ever been stung.
      So I was thinking as I read your message and thought that even though you think you might not have done anything to scare the bee, but the fact you know you could die from a bee sting, that might have meant you tensed up maybe? In doing so, the bee may have thought you were attacking it and stung you in self defence. And the fact the bee ended up on the floor, well maybe you were that nervous you unconsciously swatted the bee without thinking and it was merely depending itself. I'm not saying that's what happened, just it could have been a maybe?

    • @LH-kz2nf
      @LH-kz2nf ปีที่แล้ว

      @@random-person1 no actually this is the only time I've been stung and could not figure out why. Other times I have accidentally stepped on a yellow jackets nest and got stung but realize they didn't know I meant no harm. Another time I was getting something out of an out building I have an the end of it one of the wall studs. On the other side of the stub was a red wasp nest and I was stung.. I know I unknowingly provoked that sting..
      The honey bee I had know idea he was anywhere around. I was standing there holding the fuel nozzle in one hand and my other hand was in my pocket. A bee coming up was the last thing I had on my mind at the time. I truly believe he just accidentally flew into me on his way by and when he did he just instinctively stung me.
      Honey bees have always been one of my least worries. Wasp and yellow jackets are the ones I keep s real close eye on
      I had a group of hornets help me out this past summer. Evidently there was a nest of them somewhere near by. They kill and eat any of the other bees and insects that sting and they did a good job this summer. I rarely saw a wasp yellow jacket or anything else all summer long. I just had to make sure I didn't provoke on of them lol.

      Search local bee keeper associations, or places that sell bee keeping equipment. Either or both can usually refer you to some local folks who can do this work. Same if you see a swarm trying to nest in your eaves or a tree. Honey bees are especially prone to swarming in spring. Swarms are super easy to put in a hive box.
