  • How do you shade a face with two light sources? In this face shading tutorial for beginners I show you how to put lighting on a face with not only one, but two lights. The same basic shadow patterns appear, but shading a face with more than one light source can make it look much more atmospheric and cool.
If you know the basics, it's actually not that hard. I try to give you a few examples that hopefully help you understand how to shade a head better.
Let me know in the comments, if you have any questions or tips for me. Thanks a lot!

This has been really helpful, thank you! I was having trouble shading because my drawing contains two bright light sources (and they’re purple and green, to make it even more difficult for myself…) and this has genuinely helped a lot to figure out how I’ll go about placing the lights and even the shade! You deserve all the likes and subs! :D

Surprised this doesn't have more views. Very helpful thank you! I originally shade by using a dark pen over a light surface, rather than a light pen over a dark surface as you do - does that makes sense? But I'm going to try your method and see how it goes. :)

Thanks! You can of course help by sharing my content! :)
Yeah, I know what you mean. It doesn't really matter which way you do it, especially in digital art. You can either start with dark tones and paint the light, as if you were the light source lighting the object. Or you can start with a brighter local color and paint the shadows.
