Tips from someone that has now repaired THREE 55" Samsung TV's!
Main Point: The most critical part of this repair is to get the lens PERFECTLY centered above the LED!
When looking straight down on top of the LED with the LENS ON, there should be very little light coming from dead-center. Essentially, the lens should "push" the light to the edges of the lens itself. If you don't center the lens EXACTLY over the LED, then light will escape the lens and shoot straight up to the diffuser and you will *still* have white spots on the repaired TV (voice of experience speaking here). I would say use the following repair process steps-
1) turn the TV on and set the brightness to the LOWEST setting you can set it to (this will save your eyesight as you center the lenses)
2- Disassemble the TV to the point where you can re-glue the lenses.
3- Use a fairly slow-dry glue that allows you up to an hour of repositioning (I used GEL-type superglue**)
4- Put on your darkest pair of sunglasses (this process is very eye irritating- I ended up seeing spots for an hour afterwards!)
5- Turn the TV on and look down directly over the top of each lens you have glued
6- If any direct light is escaping STRAIGHT UP up through the lens, carefully reposition the lens until as LITTLE as possible is coming straight up- the three small "pips" on the lens should drop into the small copper-colored "holes" in the LED strip when centered correctly
This small tweak GREATLY improved the quality of the image and light dispersal on my repaired units. The LED lens is designed to reduce the "direct-up" light and spread it wider to spread it on the diffuser layer above it. If its not centerd, the LED sorta "blasts" through the lens and creates hot spots on the diffuser.. not as bad as no lens, but not as good as the factory aligned lens.
Also, in the tutorial above, they use hot glue to try to hold the lens from the side. 🤔The glue strings from this creates a form of fiber-optic light pipe effect and draws light to the sides of the lenses (clearly seen at 2:19 in the video). I would forgo doing any side-gluing as it alters the light path and will likely degrade the uniformity of light brightness on the screen.
I Hope this helps someone get better results! 👍🙂
** The GEL-type superglue can cause the lens to "fog" so carefully wipe the lenses of any white powdery fog that may accumulate after the gluing process
Gotta save this great tip
If I had only seen this comment YESTERDAY!!
Main point is take extra care of LCD and do not break it.
Thanks for this extremely helpful tip. It should be the top comment. I'm going to try this repair on my Samsung TV which has a similar problem (although my dots are blue/purple rather than white) and I'll definitely follow your advice. Looks doable with a bit of common sense!
I'm sure as hell not planning to forgo trying to make sure no more ever fall off. So every last one will be glued somehow.
Great video! Only took me 30 minutes to destroy my tv. At least now I don't have to buy another Samsung.
Hahaha, if it ain' broken I will fix it until it is. What went wrong? Maybe I can help you.
😂😂😂
Any chance you would share what went wrong? I have a 65" with 15 that need to be repaired.
Took me 3 hrs to destroy it
This is perfect ad for buying a new TV.
LOL!
Same thought. I've got one white spot right now and it's driving me crazy. But probably 1/100th as crazy as trying to do this and fix it myself. I'll go to Walmart and spend $500 before attempting this
Enjoyed the comments more than the fix video. New TV for me too!
TLDR: (1) Unplug your TV (2) Carry it to the front curb (3) Buy another TV
Yeah this is way too much work for a simple defect and Samsung should offer a rebate for selling this crap.
I did it. No more white spots. Easy fix. Many Samsung tv that are more than 3-4 years old tends to slow down or stuck when opening TH-cam or other apps, no more software updates, solution: fire stick or similar!
Not sure where I went wrong. I was careful to clip everything back in where it was, connected ribbons, but no picture. I’m sure connections aren’t seared right
That's what happened to me. I took it apart again and the only thing I can see is a very small chip on the glass in one corner. This is a cowboy repair. Thanks for damaging my tv
This was helpful - but you went so fast it didnt show how to do anything... only described what to do essentially
I had the exact same thought. Good video, but I still have to watch more videos, so this was useless.
Definitely do NOT add glue to the side of lenses as seen in 2:19, and make sure the lenses are perfect, or you will hate it. I had to replace my LED Strips. My glue choice is JB Weld UV light activated.
I have a Samsung UN50H6350AF and the LED light discs came off during a move. Ruined an old 50" TV with minimal hours and a fantastic picture until I moved it. I was gentle and used the original box. Please don't be convinced by this video. It has a fraction of the detail you need and is nothing like my TV on the inside. The serviceman in Indianapolis said it was $245 as of Feb. 2023 and came with no guarantee it wouldn't happen again on the ride home.
My neighbor put a 60" OLED out on the curb last night with a sign "Free" so I grabbed it. It's in perfect condition other than a few white spots, I would think that anyone with common sense and attention to detail can fix this. Thanks for posting this video I got a brand new TV.
_I like your style_
oled doesnt work like that pal
I think hot glue can't support led bar heat
I am sure you can also use 2 component adhesive
Well, my tv started off with one white spot. I can now count 6. I can hear the diffusers falling off from time to time.
I don’t have these spots that are shown but I have white circle rings that show all the time from the LEDs, it started off only on the left side of the screen, there was one row of 4 white ring circles but now the whole tv shows white ring circles, but are way more noticeable when there’s bright solid colors on screen. Every LED light will show a white circle on screen.
how do I get rid of them?
Similar problem. I'm a little concerned neighbor is pointing something through window so I'm just gonna wait to see how it goes before curbing my sunlight indulgence. Sorry no help.
@@sampleoffers1978 is yours a Samsung model and how long have you had yours? Mine was purchased back in 2017, it’s a 6 series 55 4k uhd tv. I don’t know the span on these models but maybe it’s just time for an upgrade or a wrong cleaning product was used
To the author this is kind of interesting but it’s hit and miss. So here’s a question how long did it take? I fixed a few Samsung issues not screens as it’s like rolling a dice. Your video is interesting so question what signs would walk away from? So customer has white dots. My question to said customer is do you have kid because just poking can cause damage beyond what simply is usually economically inefficient. Any advice the just walk away from this ✌️ happy to share a picture
thanks for the video and insight into the issue. i wouldn't listen to the idiots saying to buy new tvs... at least these sheeple keep the stockholders happy with yearly revenue on products that could've been fixed with a little effort, but it's wasteful consumerism, in my opinion.
You had to buy, there is no other option. If you try to repair yourself you will break the LCD, that is for sure.
@@adilmuhammad2717 if its already broken what do you lose in trying to fix it lmao, you break it more? oh no! at least u tried before selling out for a new tv
@@syltonn I am saying don't try yourself instead repair it from the shop.
@@adilmuhammad2717 ig thats another option but some of us tryna save money lol
Thanks for the repair video very helpful
Uh too much work. I believe I'll just buy a new TV since they're cheaper now. I'll sell my 52 inch LED as is. It's got one glowing spot anyways.
What to do when still see white spot after changed for brand new backlight strips ?( maybe too high led because of brand new ) thanks
Thanks for the video i managed to fix my TV...
What glue did you use?
Great video. Are you free this week to nip around a fix mine. Worth a bottle of wine to you.
NEED TO SLOW IT DOWN SO WE CAN SEE HOW TO REMOVE THE BORDERS !!
Well that explains everything!
Hi there I got a 65 samsung TV.i got a big line on bottom. Can you fix it .
Basically just go buy a new tv
What type of glue us used
TLDW: Buy a new TV
You lost me at "unscrew."
Looks like a ball buster. Have a 65" with 7-8 bright spots and wondering if it's worth fixing.
What are those foam block things?
Yoga blocks
It is a pain. But after doing it a few times, I found you dont even have to take off the back cover if you know how to pop off the front bezel.
Then position the bottom of the TV against the wall and carefully lift the glass panel to lean it against the wall, with the ribbon cable still attached.
Pop off the sides and top trim as shown in this video at 1:19, leave the bottom trim in. Without taking the diffuser panel completely out. Just lift it up on an angle and do the repairs.
Can you put a link for the suction cups you are using.
You don't need them. Just lift the screen by grabbing it at one end and in the lower or upper middle.
What type of leds do you get? Any link?
Sooooooo i did all this and when it came time to glue them back on, they wouldn't stick, with gorilla super glue, it wouldn't solidify, only after several hours it got tacky and i could pull them right off still. 🤔
When using gorilla glue, you are supposed to wet the surface first I use it for everything, but this would not be a great application
Cool video
TV manufacturers should make the lenses screwable...and not this bullshit being clued above the leds.
Where do I buy the leds?
easier to get a new tv
It's better to keep my TV as is. May I ask a question? Are you okay???
May I ask you a question? Are you that stup***id to not fix your Tv. ? 😂
This is for PRO
your tutorial soo slow can you make it much faster
do not use superglue or hotglue ffs
Then what else ?
Yeah you glue them down you super glue if you don't you know what happens you going to put them together like it was and you're going to hear a little tiny noise inside the television and those things are going to fall right off because the TV gets hot inside of that film and those things are a diffuser without them and you don't glue them down it's going to end up like it was that was a dumbass who said you don't glue them down you glue them down and then you hot glue them to that so you make sure they don't fall off again
@@carlocalucci240 Epoxy
Maybe a glue that have gel consistency, the hotglue could melt from the led heat, the superglue should be fine tho.
They said on another vid, use epoxy
Just gonna buy a new tv they are so cheap now
Nope. New tv
Been waiting till I have enough money for a new tv before trying this because I doubt mine will survive the repair.
I’ve been doing the exact same thing. I’m worried I’ll damage the tv and be left without. 👍
@@bennistar4697
I'm nearly ready, have purchased ifixit protech toolkit and additional suction cups and made a plan.
Fold out desk beside kitchen table both covered with blankets
Tools ready and easily reachable
When taking off inner frame going to label them top/bottom left/ right
When removing the black screen followed by white sheet ive read these bend and break easily so have second person ready
Wish me luck
So finally got around to trying this,
The pain started almost immediately with a screw stripping
Maneged to get it out and rest went smoothly up to the point where bezel goes back on
Put the bezel on over the main screen and broke the whole thing
@@haralamcSo what new TV did you end up buying? I'm ready to crack my screen while attempting to get rid of these white spots.
Great video but if it takes this tonrepair ill just jump ship and save for another one.
Never buy samsung again though. Their phones are great and the computer chips seem to be fine. Appliances and tvs nope
Toshiba and LG
Too fast :(
Anyone have a tv brand that don’t fuck up like shitsung.
really, i'm lookin to disco. i want to fix my tv
I think I can live with several white spots
Me too. I have two white spots. They doesn't bother me at all.😂
People don't understand why you're fixing that TV they don't make curved 4K 3D TVs anymore
Now the stupid question I have what are the pennies glued down for
My guess is he just placed pennies as markers near the lenses he had reattached or needed to attach. I didn't see him ever glue a penny down. I think they are just "bookmarks" so he knows which lenses have been glued already.¯\_(ツ)_/¯
No thanks I can't sit through the crappy music
Lmao fuck all that
Lol the average joe can’t fix this.
💳 like old bank card...😅
I think I'll just be buying a new TV....this is way too complicated for my brain.
Thank you gentlemen 🫡
