  • Kevin Durant entered the summer of 2016 with the basketball world at his feet. The Oklahoma City Thunder superstar was set to test free agency for the first time in his illustrious career, just as an influx of new TV money was about to send the league's salary cap soaring.
As that rising cap cleared a path for a number of unexpected suitors, the juggernaut Golden State Warriors loomed. What followed was the most stunning free-agency partnership in NBA history.

As a Warriors fan who has spent their entire life minutes from Oracle Arena, the pain we felt after going 73-9 just to blow that 3-1 lead was indescribable. The whole Bay Area was utterly devastated... Then KD signed 3 weeks later and completely alleviated 90% of our pain. Steph winning after he left healed us even more.

A whopping 6 years later it still comes as the MOST shocking move in not just NBA but sports history in terms of a giant superstar with Free Agency. I still can’t believe it to this day honestly lmao, doesn’t even sound right whenever I look back and I’m a great fan of KD at that.
Sucks that he’s still trying to prove he can win without a superteam though. He’s turning 34 this month so his prime window is slowly getting smaller and smaller. He’s gotta try and make it happen with Brooklyn

I think Lakers and Bucks are the only teams in recent years won the chip having both opposing team healthy squad (but Warriors is almost healthy but regardless Boston is healthy team). It means they now know how to handle their bodies well expecting to perform in finals without injuries. its a good sign tho not because they cant make excuses after losing if ever, but WE FANS CAN ENJOY THEIR FULL DISPLAY OF THEIR SKILLS AND CRAFT REGARDLESS OF WHAT WILL HAPPEN AFTER. • @Anthonydu01630

But that’s the truth, Lebron move was fair, he formed a Big 3 with the 7th best player in the league (I think Bron, Kobe, KD, Dwight, Dirk, Duncan and Cp3 were better than Wade in 2011) and a Top 20 player Bosh.
KD joined a 2x reigning first unanimous MVP and scoring leader Steph Curry, the 2nd greatest shooter of all time who was arguably a Top 10 player in 2016, the 2017 DPOY and best defender of this era and the 2015 FMVP.
Bron formed a Big 3, KD joined a big 3 and formed a Big 4+ Wade and Bosh were already washed after 2012, both injury prone Wade even tought about retiring in 2013 because of his knee …
Also Wade wasn’t the best fit for Lebron, Wade was basically a mini Lebron (or a smarter Westbrook with great defense), he was a ball dominant super athletic guard who made most of his damage by attacking the rim just like Lebron, and he wasn’t a good shooter just like Lebron. That’s why the HEAT with prime fucking Lebron didn’t dominated like the Warriors, if Lebron had just Klay Thompson, not even Curry just Klay the HEAT would have been way better not because Klay is better than Wade but because it would have been a way better fit.
So you really can’t compare these 2 moves, not only KD had better teammates, but they were a good fit with him and already had all time great chemistry, you just can’t compare man .

Hot take: KD going to the golden state helped his legacy BUT it ruined his image and legacy more.
We all have KD atleast at our top 14. If KD hadn't left OKC and still ringless 'till now, he'd be at best top 20 and would be known as the greatest player to never win the ring. But due to him going to golden state, we can't, don't and won't put him in the top 10 because of this move.
