    All "superteams" aren't created equal. The Heat were a .573 (5th seed) win team before LeBron. The Celtics were .293 before Garnett. The Warriors were winningest team in league history before Durant. Not the same. That would be like Barkley going to the Bulls in 92-93 or Dirk going to the Spurs in 06-07. The competitiveness of the entire league is worst because of Durant.

      CS Watson Ironically if KD dosent go to gsw the west becomes more competitive and the CaVs sweep their way to another chip.
      So basically what your saying is you want the Cavs to win easy.

    • @ohmangoddamn1986

      CS Watson both the heat and Celtics had two all stars coming. Warriors had one. What now

    • @ChristopherWatsonsalemowalk
      @ChristopherWatsonsalemowalk 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Ruben Julius sure, but there's always been average, above average, and below. That curve exists in every sport. But, the bigger issue is competitiveness and parity. If you're gonna stack two teams, then just reduce the league to 16 teams. I don't mind teams being dominant. They should just be organic about it thru shrewd drafting and crafty trades. I don't mind free agency. Just not to the covfefe

    • @SirGenesis206
      @SirGenesis206 7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      CS Watson they drafted 3 of them and signed 1 free agent. Does it get more organic than that? And the Cavs were a super team last year, and only stopped being considered as such because Durant signed with GS. Only in sports does an employee get knocked for going to the best company in his industry to work with the best employees and managers. Parity is great for entertainment, but it's not like 3 guys for 3 different teams colluded and made some crazy decision to build this team. He tested the waters and signed with the best opportunity.

    This is nothing compared to Boston. Stop it. Ray Allen and KG joined a mediocre Celtics team via a trade. KD jumped on the 73-9 Warriors bandwagon to get a ring on a team that's been to 2 straight NBA finals that also beat KD because he chocked a 3-1 lead. There is literally no competition now in the league outside 2 teams in the NBA because of this weak move.

    Kevin Durant move is the same as if in summer 2014, after getting beaten by the Spurs, LeBron joins them or if LeBron joined the Celtics in 2010.
    The problem for me is not joining a super team but joining the team that beat you. If Kevin had joined the Clippers, Spurs or Rockets, I would have no problem. Still super teams, but not as weak a move.
    I mean, can you imagine LeBron joining Golden State after 2015 finals, like "Well, can't beat 'em! Why not join 'em."

    • @kaikawasumi
      @kaikawasumi 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      That isn't quite what they mean. In a lot of playoff games and key situations Westbrook was taking the last shot instead of Durant. It made no sense seeing as how Durant is a better scorer than Westbrook, and was likely why the Thunder lost 4-1 to the Heat even though Durant played well on offense.

    • @quintonlovett
      @quintonlovett 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Kai Kawasumi Durant and Westbrook have both grown since the finals against the heat. Durant is. Better shooter though I can agree with that; but even last year in the WCF, watching KD in the clutch it seemed like he didn't want he ball some of the time!!

      Going into last off-season GS had FAs (Barbosa, Speights, Ezeli), including Barnes who would demand a max deal. They weren't going to match for Barnes, because of the KD signing, so they let him sign with Dallas. Then they traded Bogut to Dallas to dump salary. Those are 5 major pieces (2 of them starters) of the 2015 championship and 2016 finals team gone. How were they already established coming into this year? If anything, they had to rebuild their bench and re-establish after the Durant signing... Zaza, West, McGee, all free agents available for every other team to pick up. McCaw is a rookie that the Bucks gave up on too soon and traded away for cash and M Barnes is a waiver wire pick up, who was also available to every other team

    WTF is so hard to understand with this???
    KD was up 3-1 and choked the series away, said to himself "I'm not good enough to beat this Warriors team" and joined them. An ALL TIME GREAT team that had just won 73 games, and really had no need for Durant.
    Comepetive sports is about competing with the best in your field. sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. But when it's all said and done, you can hold your head up high and say you competed. Durant cannot do that! he ran away from a challenge, that if he succeeded in, would've vaulted him up the GOAT lists no doubt. Lebron competed, succeeded and now we're asking ourselves if he's the GOAT. Durant is a top 2 player at the prime of his life who made a move a bottom 20 player at the end of their career would make. he went for a cheap ring, and it will mean absolutely NOTHING if he gets it. Durant IMO should forever have lost any respect anyone within the NBA community had for him. The weakest move in any sports history

It doesn't matter what Miami or Cleveland were like before he got there. Each time, he joined 2 other all stars to create a super team. I have no problem with them criticizing his move. And Ray Allen and KG going to Boston is nothing like that. Neither the Sonics nor the T- Wolves were up 3-1 in the Western Finals and choked. Plus they were traded to the Celtics. KD signed with the Warriors. He was on a top 3 team in the league and was up 3-1 on the best team (arguably of all time) and choked it. So he went to the team that beat him. That was probably the weakest move I've ever seen.

    In 2006-07 the Celtics won 24 games and Boston fans were calling for Doc Rivers' head. The very next season they won 66 games and the NBA championship. No rebuild. No player development. They literally became a totally different team overnight. And while it was done through trades you better believe both Ray Allen and Kevin Garnett had a lot of say on where they went.
    Rivers wouldn't even be considered a "good" NBA coach without his Celtics super team. Paul Pierce wouldn't have his Finals MVP without that same super team. That super team lead to LeBron leaving a 60+ win Cleveland team to go to Miami. And now we have KD in Golden State. These guys are no different than KD. The view from those high horses must be pretty good.

I mean u lose to them when your up 3-1 and then come to find out u had been in conversation with Draymond through out the year. talking about a move? So u mean to tell me that while your playing this team in the WCF you buddying up with the enemy and then u go on to have sub par performances in the last 3 games against them? something seems untoward about that whole sequence

If you are fortunate enough to have options where to go, choose the best situation for you and ignore what others may think or say. He's in his prime playing for a great organization with great players, and in a great location. You want to be successful? Be around people who are successful. Boston was going to trade for Butler if KD came, Wash already had the team to go at James, so don't anyone act like KD didn't have great options in the east. The dude ran to the easy path to get to the finals without having to deal with James and to say he didn't do that is crazy. Come on people this guy went to a team already loaded and winning without him. Everyone wants to say what about James and i ask everyone this each time they bring up James. What was the heat before James got there? Go look up the numbers then come talk to me. KD ran from the challenge to knock off James in the east.

      Bernard Brunu Yall keep sayin we can't have it both ways, but it's not having it both ways. It's fair to view a superstar lesser than he is if he doesn't win a title, cause that's the object of the game, to win the ring. If a supestar's been in the league 8 to 10, somewhere within those 10 years he should have a title being if hes one of the top players in the world. And really nobody was getting on KD for not having a title cause they knew how his road to the finals was in the west. Lebron put pressure on himself for not having ring, ppl recognize his first run with the Cavs that his teammates weren't good enough "at the time". Yall just need to face it, BOTH took the easy way out being the top 1 and 2 players in the world. But I still feel the Durant move was a lot weaker seeing as the warriors were a championship contender without him.

They were a good team but Russ and thunder always come up short in crunch time. Look what happened this year. They got beaten out by the rockets first round. But that takes a back seat to the real issue. KD was just tired of playing with Russ. You can tell it just frustrated him most times. He joined a team where he liked the people he worked with off and on the court and also happens to be one of the best teams in the NBA. Why would KD go to a lesser team where he would have to carry the brunt of the work himself when he can play on a team where he can just focus on his game and not anyone elses?

      @AllLove0307 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Falcons Fan Extraordinaire I dunno if people are making excuses for him, and if they are there's no need. LeBron had what he needs, and he's gonna go up against a tough team. Golden State needs to win, at least for KDs legacy. Even if KD wins fans will tarnish it, but man if he loses imagine that backlash? Jeez

    KD one of my fav players of all time, but Skip is cool with KD joining the Warriors who were 73-9 but criticize Lebron with joining the heat when they were just an average team the year prior? SMH

    I used to really dislike KD for his decision, but now he's back to being one of my favorite players. When OKC blew the lead, so many people talked about how he needs a ring and he's gonna have to leave to get a ring, but then when he actually leaves and goes to the team with the best chance of getting a ring, he's hated

    What's missing from this is that down the road okc/Seattle benefitted from the ray Allen trade in terms of certain picks and so forth, Minnesota received great picks down the road as a result ( as a fan I want the twolves to be a playoff team again). Fast forward to Durant, looking at it as a fan of the sport, it's a weak move considering that they've proven they are capable of beating them or potentially beating the warriors in a series but I also do understand why he left.

    Did Skip forget about Karl Malone, Gary Payton going to the Lakers, or Charles Barkley going to the Rockets? To call someone misinformed yet he didn't bring that up. The Celtics weren't the first super team.

    Skip's point is the same exact thing that everybody is confusing with regards to KD. It's not the fact that Durant left, it's the fact that he went to the Warriors. KG and Ray Allen weren't rivals who had just lost to the Celtics before joining them. The Heat weren't a Cavs rival when LeBron went there in 2010. That's why people have such a problem with the move that Kevin Durant made. OKC was up 3-1 on the Warriors and were a 4th quarter choke in game 6 away from winning that series, and to up and leave and go to Golden State the summer after that just leaves the wrong impression to a lot of people.

    its interesting how we put almost no attention to the fact that curry, klay, green were drafted in late picks. i guess for the first time i would agree w skip in that notion. a number of other franchises could have draft them but did not choose to. now what. they (3 players) transform themselves into stars over early picks. and gs is simoly adding one already-established player kd. good insight.
