I think I'll join you on this challenge. Its not been easy 😢but I'll try my best. I really want to have long hair that's actually mine, not from attachment or wigs. I want long hair that's growing from my head😊. I've never really experienced long hair that's mine so I'll LOVE to have that experience ❤
Man I felt this! This was me in 2013 forcing my little fro into a high bun😢. It can definitely be done when we listen to our hair and only do what will help it thrive. You’ve got it 💪🏾💕
@@LimitlessBloom thank you so much for this. I really feel encouraged. It's actually been a long time dream of mine. I'm tired of envying others or admiring the hairs of other races. I want my own too🥺
Finally I’ll join a challenge. My hair is armpit length, low porosity, fine and low density. It’s very hard not to have breakage. I want to reach mid back length by December. My target is waist length by the next 2years thou.
I remember having a set back like this back in 2019. Wearing micro mini twists back to back, over oiling my scalp, not really observing the fact that areas in my crown were breaking off. By November 2019 I stopped doing mini twists, stopped oiling my scalp, and started washing my hair every 2 to 3 weeks at a time. 2 weeks first for about 6 months taking the time to nurture my hair back to health and grow it back. Doing intensive treatments, and opting for medium/chunky flat twists. After 1 year the fullness and length finally came back and double what it was before. 2 week wash days became 3 weeks. My hair was healthier and stronger to prolong wash day a bit more. I started doing mini flat twists for more longer protective style. Did this up to now, 2024. I usually do 3 rows of flat twists in the back. What I realized is that the tension from the tip of each row was causing breakage yet again, but not too severe. Now I'm back to doing mini twist mainly in the back half with braided roots. Twist size is pretty much a 1/2 inch in with not too small/not to big. And mini flat twists in the front which are about 1/4 in width. From 2019 to 2024 I went from arm bit length to now almost waist length. I only use rose water on my scalp to refresh and hydrate in between wash days and lightly adding oil and hair butter cream to fresh my hair. I install my protective style on blowout hair. During wash day now I always thoroughly dangling and condition before going in with shampoo to ensure all shedded hair is removed. This allows wash day to go by quickly and smoothly. I'm confident that within the next year the breakage within those spots from the tension of the 3 row flat I was doing will gain their length back. I'm so glad I caught it early compare to back in 2019. I'm now being more watchful of what I do to my hair and how is it affecting the health of my hair. Mini flat twists overall work great for the front half of my hair. In this area I'm able to treat and care for my edges with castor oil and hair butter cream in my temple areas that are more fragile. Though this areas may be fragile I'm still able to maintain the length and health. Braided roots mini twists (not micro mini) work perfect for the back half. It keeps my roots nice and flat and get less frizzy. When applying rose water I no long spray it onto my scalp. This was causing excessive frizz and makes my hair style look older quicker. Instead I use and applicator tip to get it directly to my scalp and gently massage it in. Rosewater has been a complete game changer when it comes to scalp health. Diet and exercise has also played a huge part in the health of my hair. Consuming more water, eatting cleaners, and getting in some fitness training in my daily routine has been truly benefitial.
Oh nice. Thank you so much for sharing! It’s so important we not only protective style but do well to keep and eye on how our hair is responding to them 👌🏿
Yes!!!! I’m joining you Sis! I’m already on a year long protective style challenge. The first 6 months I wore plaits, these last 6 months I’m wearing twists. I also have been strictly finger detangling and I love it. I already use some form of herb in every step of my routine except the shampoo. I currently use black African soap. Do you have any suggestions of what I could add to that? I also am going to start incorporating a protein. It’s funny cause I’ve been thinking about exactly what and how I was going to do that. I could go on and on! 😂😅 Anyway, I’m in!! I love this!! I feel like I’m stepping up my game this last stretch of the year! Looking forward to your progress check ins. 💕💜
Ahh that’s great💕. In regards to the shampoo, I’ve been using black soap infused with Ayurveda herbs. I didn’t record when I first made as I was feeling very lazy. Filming things just prolongs the process lol although I have lots left , I plan to make a small batch then I will film it . However here’s the formulation I tweaked to make my black soap. Only thing is although my hair feels incredibly soft and nourished after using the shampoo, my scalp itches little like it wasn’t cleaned properly. So I will tweak the formula by adding a gentle surfactant and see how I get on. I’m still deciding whether I should still add the black soap along with the surfactant or use the surfactant alone. Really getting into my formulation this year and I’m loving it lol. th-cam.com/video/eW9SMYNhGWg/w-d-xo.htmlsi=5WgGrdNSdCG-MhQq These are the herbs I used in mine : - Aritha pods 30g - Shikakai 10g - Amla 10g - Neem 10g - Kapoor Kachin 10g - Sidr 8g - Fenugreek 3g - Marshmallow root 2.5g - Slippery elm 2.5g - Horsetail 2.5g - Sage 2.5 - Black tea 2.5g - Blackseed 2.5g - Cloves 2g - Flaxseeds 2g I also used a preservative but I still keep it in the fridge just to be on the safe side 😅
Yes please make a video on how you moisture train your hair and some of your Ayurvedic treatments I just love your diys there awesome and I’m also curious about the shea butter oil. Thanks in advance for humoring me. I would also like to join you with your hair challenge, I’m trying to grow my hair back I cut it all off on an impulse a year ago. So my first goal is shoulder length hair.
I have very fine strands with low density hair that is armpit length.. trying desperately to get back to brastrap length when my hair was its most healthy during 2020-2021 when I was home and not doing too much
@LimitlessBloom wash, deep condition, and flat twist to curly style edges and center leave out and blow dry and braid the back to wear a kinky curly upart wig. Spray mixture of water, aloe vera, and lavender essential oil mix every other day. Take hair down and repeat every 6 weeks.
@TheDivaIsIntheDetails oh nice sounds like a really pretty style. However it also sounds like it could be a lot of manipulation for your leave out 🤔. How are you going to make sure they stay healthy? I struggle with leave outs. I feel like they can be so much work to maintain 😅
@LimitlessBloom just take off the upart wig nightly and throw on a bonnet. I will only restyle ny leave out by spraying with water mixed with lavender followed by a curl cream to set in twists overnight weekly. My leave out does well with wet sets.
I was talking about Ayurveda herbs being used in place of protein treatments due to the strengthening properties of some of the herbs i.e henna. I don’t do that so I was clarifying why I don’t do that. That’s why I said although they may coat your hair to make it feel strengthened , it will not penetrate to strengthen the hair from within as a hydrolysed protein treatment would. I was not talking about Ayurveda herbs as a whole as they all have different properties ie conditioning, strengthening, cleansing etc so that’s why I made that point. Just explaining the place of the herbs in my routine when it comes to protein and why I will continue to use both herbs and protein treatments in my routine as I’ve always done.
