When I first started playing MK1, I used to think that Smoke was my BIGGEST opp…but one day, I just decided to read the room and I stopped trying to play quicker than him. The person I was playing against was SPAMMING teleport with Smoke. He teleported from the sky, to the ground…pretty much in every direction, but I learned in THAT very moment how to play against Smoke, just by being more patient. The guy teleported, I waited for the small window, and I uppercut him every single time. Thankfully, the guy only knew how to teleport. The score was 0-2, but I literally only beat him with uppercut!😂 It was so satisfying. I knew it was cheesy, but I was just playing his game. In the end, he became smarter and knew that I wouldn’t change, so HE changed. He started grabbing while I was blocking, but that’s when I adapted. Now, he was throwing grabs and teleports, but it was only a matter of staying focused and being smarter than the other guy.
Idky ppl say smoke is op or he needs a nerf he is dam near next to sub zero when countered right all his combo starters are punishable low damage and not to mention hes not easy to play, in the hands of a good player he becomes c tier
Your last tip with keeping in mind the fighter game mentality is why I’ve been getting good when I was younger I used to get so mad but now I just shrug it off and think of how I can move on and beat them next time! It’s so true!!

How can so much invisibility be in the game? I am overwhelmed. Stay on rank V now but when my son and i sparing for hours and he plays smoke. OMG so stressful with all the invisible attacks and 50/50s.
His invisibility is predicable. Long windups. He only has a couple of moves that do it believe it or not. Go into practice mode and have the cpu do it or play as him you’ll get the hang of it really quick.

Honestly the biggest thing that helped me was the button window because I was trying to practice this combo on Li Mei and couldn’t get it with a long button window as soon as I put it on medium it was so easy. This helped a lot and I have a lot more confidence going into online!

To someone in the comments D-1 pokes are super punishable in Mk-1 for people that mash D-1 after turn all you have to do is grab and it's a throw counters and they can't tech the throw or D-1 back and it beats them every time and hit stun's them to standing position and guarantees the highs.

I GET DOWNED SQUARED EVERY TIME I TRY TO PUNISH OR GRAB. They can get the down 2 off but I can’t when it comes to them jumping or them grabbing me. They need to bring back the mk11 down 2 kounters
See my issue is blocking and being quick with the combos inlay on ps5 never played an MK game before but since this a restart to the franchise I decided what the heck and I have big thumbs but don't have the coordination or speed to do these combos anytime cause I notice when even I move I feel and look awkward doing it lol any tips would be helpful
I'm a sf and tekken player. I never go hard um mk because i have de imprrssion that the timing to "start your turn" after a block is so odd in mk. I never know when i am plus or when to atack in ordee to punish block/wiff my oponent. The timing is is just to different. Do you guys notice that?
My problem has always been that my brain can’t see the connections between moves to make combos and I also can’t remember what buttons do what moves no matter how much I practice and I always involuntarily start mashing

I would call her a mix, from my limited experience with her. From what I've seen, she looks to have good low and high options that you can frustrate your opponent with. She does have some rush down qualities so I'll have to play her a little bit more to really give a definitive answer
Lab work allot, and also trying it in live matches because with the ping you will have different input lag. You can also use a part of the string that you mess up and then do the full one
He's a footsie character. You're supposed to establish presence and pressure from mid-range with his longer range normals. Out poke them with stand two and mix up with back 3. Wait for them to trip up then confirm your pokes into full blown combos.
b3 is suicide outside of max range. s2 is high. he was much better footsie kharakter in mk11. b1, b2 both was mid with great reach, even f3 was great. he had plus frames face to face and low/overhead buttons as well. Scorp seems really bad in this one to me. You can basically block and poke everything he does. His footsie isn't really great. Also the flying kick type moves are extremely fast in this game for some reason and most of them have armor. They are mostly unreactable and barely punishable. There is no fkn neutral. i don't understand why they takeaway all of his mk11 tools. he wasn't even good in that game. Ashrah have much better reach and tools to play footsie whiff punish game. there is no reason to respect scorpion in this game. he can't win if you don't throw the match.@@xkmuffinzx3915 I'm curious to see how he will be played in high level games without cyrax chip dmg strat. Teleport is also trash. If i don't pick a kameo with a projectile, it's easy to zone scorp. Tp trash, sweep -19, spear -9999. Also you can't stagger his strings. He doesn't have much string anyway. 214, 122 have dumb animations that you can't play stagger game like MK11's 11/21 strings. he is so trash with high attacks that i think his throws should have been much stronger in this game.

As reptile you can punish him with a 40% combo every time he does his unsafe mixup. He can’t do much if you just wait for him to mess up.
