This was great! My hood pin didn't seem to be functioning, found this vid and now I've programmed my new remote and saved me a tech fee. Perfectly informative! Thank you!
Took me about an hour or so but it worked! You're the best :) ps. Anyone doing this if you are having trouble accessing the module and are having difficulty probing the wire into the socket, use a metal paperclip and it should work just fine!!
I started by pairing to the receiver in the windshield and it paired but did nothing on the remote extremely glad you made this video after I spent over 200 on the lcd fob. Top notch quality glad you were here.
Had an Autostart Alarm system in the car but previous owner had lost the key. bought one off ebay and had some trouble getting it to work despite using the hoodpin. (It never gave parking lights.) Stripped a random wire from somewhere and tried this technique with the black and grey wire. Tapped the grey wire , then removed and inserted again. Parking lights were on! I turned the ignition on and off and held the ebay key's lock button. Game. Got it working. Thanks man! At the end, I readjusted my hoodpin's depth and it seemed to work after so maybe it wasn't making a connection when the hood pin was depressed. The wire method will 100% work.
I didn't understand about the parking "lights" or the bulb you have attached there but I noticed the antenna light flashes in the same pace so I guide myself with that and the clicks that the module made. It took me a few tries until I got it going. Thank you I appreciate the help.
Wow thanks a million!! I got lucky and had a toggle switch for the hood pin. So I turned it on and off fast. Then back on. And it worked!! All three of my remotes work now. awesome!!
Thanks. It worked. My car could start for 2 seconds with remote start and died with 3 flashing brake lights. Now it works nice. I couldn't flash hood pin method with installation method. Thanks again.
we bought a used car a couple of years ago that we still have now and it came with a remote starter that was installed by the previous owner, but has not been working since we purchased the car. i had googled for a long time to try and get the thing working but have given up. with winter approaching again this year, i set out to try once more. there was a video from another guy involving the PAB button but it did not work for my situation. this one solved it, great explanation and visuals. thanks a lot! now winter does not seem so bad this year :-)
Thanks you so much for the video. My hood pin was too corroded (the PAD button won't work if pin is corroded) so I had to splice the wire and was able to get a good ground to get the hood pin light trigger to stay on long enough for reprogramming, which become a two person job for me. Had another person turn the key on and off and then hit the lock button and it work like a charm.
Thanks man!! You saved me so much trouble. Found out that my hood pin is light sensor instead (super scketchy), just had to ground it using your technique
Thanks lots man! your vedio is super helpful. I tried millions of way but just follow your vedio it indeed works! The remoter match with ant. All functions work great, but just starting engine does not work. just lights flash .
Jeff, it was good talking to you today. Great video! Got mine up and running within minutes. Thanks for so much for your expertise! 👍 Now I just wait for the next episode of Ozark!! 🤣
Thanks for the video; I thought it was a great demonstration. I still have an issue with my starter after I tried the instructions posted in the video. I see the park lights come on after I probe it, turn key ON and then OFF, hold the lock on the remote but the park lights don't flash rather just come back ON solid... Any idea why I'm not get the flashing lights when holding the button on remote? Model: CT-3271 2 Button Also, should the LED on the antenna always be flashing when the car is off?
Hey Jeff. Don't know if I am going to get an answer on a old video, but it is worth a try. I have an AutoStart system that came installed on the used car I bought. But after my car battery died a while ago, it seems that the remote won't communicate with the car anymore. I am buying new batteries to my remote today, but I was actually wondering what would be the necessary default steps after a dead car battery. Usually the system works normally and I need to reprogram the remote?! Thanks a lot in advance!
Hi lockdown security! I have an Autostart AS-1755 very similar to your. Running for years in my automatic civic 2008. Now, all i get when pressing Start is 15 fast bulb flashing. The manual say to disconnect the manual brake orange wire, but that wire was never installaed! What should be the problem? Thanks, and great video!
Thanks this video was much better, I just finished and everything works; the only issue is that the Remote only opens the main door, don’t know why the other ones not open. If you have additional comments for a Toyo Tacoma 2009 let me know.
Great video! Question though. I have a polar start remote starter, my auto starts just fine but shuts the engine off in about 5 seconds. Any idea as to why this is happening
+Brad Krenbrink Hi Brad, sounds like one of the following: 1. Immobilizer interface (if vehicle is equipped with an immobilizer key) is not working correctly and may need to be reprogrammed or replaced 2. Tachometer signal is not being received by the remote starter and needs to be reprogrammed or re-connected/repaired Both issues are something you should consult your installer about, if you did not do the install yourself
I bought hyundai 2009 santa fe without the keyfob, the buyer told me he lost it. I found it under the seat. Surprised hyundai is using Autostart. I was able to follow the procedure and it flashed 5 times. But doesnt work. Is there anything I still need to check?
I have an auto start system that was on the vehicle when I bout it so I have no clue what model. Recently the remote started messing up. Can I order any remote start remote and program it like this?
Ours stopped working after we changed the battery in our car. While this video was perfect in explaining how to program the remote, I wasn't successful. After probing the hood pin, my parking lights stay on. I turn the ignition key on\off, but nothing happens when I press the lock button on the remote. The remote lights are flashing, so I presume the battery is still OK. We have a bypass module included with ours, does this alter the instructions? Thanks!
I have a 2008 Ford F-150 FX4. I have a WSST Compustar Model 2W901R-SS I had 2, but one got broken Can I program a new one using the existing working model? If not, is there any process I need to do to program another autostart/Unlock/Lock FOB?
Really good vid btw. If only I knew where my remote computer was....😒😒 my hood pin doesnt work, maybe too corroded but still, without knowing where the comp is, im screwed
Here’s a quick question So my grand fathers truck sat over winter and the battery died and now nothing works do you have any suggestions there to begin because I’m very lost
weird i just seen another video of an autostart unit that had a button(called PAB button) on the brains box you pressed in to program the remote if you didnt have a hoodpin hooked up.. that particular box didnt come with a PAB button?...
Everything was working fine when I used your tutorial a couple years until recently my car battery died and the remote needed to be resynced. I've been able to resync the remote and all buttons work however now when I remote start my 2009 civic, the ignition turns, the engine starts but then immediately cuts out and the dash light gives the flashing green key light (immobilizer / security). Any advice?
Hi Lockdown security i have problem with my remote start autostart AS-6850TW-FM lock and unlock working but not the start. thanks hope you can help me.
So I have one of these older systems in a used car I bought. The hood pin was busted, and I used this video to sync the remotes. The doors lock, and unlock now. But I can't get the car to start remotely. The lights flash, and I can hear the relay clicking. But thats it... Is there something else to it? Pushing the start button a few times, or other buttons?? I could use a hand here.
Hi guys, just a question regarding, the blue led light that flashes on the receiver. what does it represent? as mine sometime flashes and other times nothing at all. thanks
Love the video! But I have a question. I have the as-1725 and when I do this it only flashes one time and not 5. I bought my truck and the remote only worked once to lock the doors. I put a new battery in and tried to program the remote and it's not working. Any idea what's wrong with my system?
+Shane mcGaffick Hi Shane, the system may be in valet mode, try cycling the ignition on/off 5 times quickly, then proceed to try and program the key fob following the programming procedure.
The ignition key should be in ignition switch before you joint black&grey wires or doesn’t matter? The door should stay open or closed? What if the car doesn’t start for some reason let’s say we mis connected the wire and the car engine won’t start at all, what should we do to start at least? Thanks
Hi i have the autostart As-1214 in my car but unfortunately i lost my key and my remote. Can i find another remote and what is the procedure to make it works
Question: if i have access to the end of the grey wire can i just touch it to any piece of metal grounded to the vehicles chassis? asking that because i see whoever installed this system on my truck didnt add a hood pin and opted to leave the grey wire hanging under the dash. the controller is further up in the dash so reaching the actual relay like you did will be hard.
Yes you can use any metal under the dash provided the metal is connected to the body (chassis) of the vehicle, and not to a piece of plastic or rubber under the dash
@@LockdownSecurity thank you for this video, I deleted my other questions because I just went out and got it working this time. If anyone is having trouble with the flashing part make sure you follow the process 1:1
Not sure if I’ll get an answer. But even though another motor was put in our 07 Sienna will the remote work ? After putting in the “new” used motor the pin was gone. AS-1757v. I know they’re discontinued now.
Lockdown Security Thank You for replying. Can I replace the hood pin or hood switch? I checked out a video that you don’t need a hood pin or hood switch to reactivate it. Is that possible ? Also would it affect anything in a long run ?
I have reprogramed my remote like you mentioned and it worked but when I click the button on the remote to start the car, the lights flashes 5 times and nothing happens. What could be the issue? Do I need to program each function?
i got my new remote working thanks to this video, however the car only runs for a little while before shutting off. how can i get it to run for say 15 minutes? thank you
Not something we can explain via TH-cam comments, your best bet is to consult with a professional installer who can assist you further with that setting
My hood pin seems to be like new, also checked the wire and connection...same but will not eneter programming mode to add a fob. My Prostart 3271 unit also has a button(called PAB button) on the brains box you can use to program the remote if you didnt have a hoodpin hooked up.. . neither button with the tap sequence you suggested nor the Hold for 4 sec, release and tap (from manual) will put the unit into program mode (turn on parking lights) Any Suggestions ?
+Mighty Fast ensure the hood pin is not dirty and/or rusty, ensure it has proper connection to chassis ground (metal on the vehicle), if all else fails watch our other video for how to program with out a hood pin.
excelllentttttt vid Sir. Just a question? can i use one (it came with 2 remotes when i had it profesonally installed) of the ( ASTAS-1774SR) remotes from my daughters 2010 mazda 3 to program it for it to be use on my own 2012 honda accord? btw,, the same supplier/same brand autostart for my 2012 honda accord and the mazda 3 was installed by the same shop. i guess what i am saying, can i reprogram one of the mazdas remotes for my autostart as i have my both of these remotes for the honda lost,ty
You will need to follow our video that shows how to program without a hood pin, long story short the gray wire (hod pin input) needs to see a ground (negative) signal in order to get into programming mode using the PAB button
I have a GS2371TW, last winter my remote would sporadically work and has gotten worse since. I changed the battery and this made no difference. I did a factory reset on the system following instructions, then tried to reprogram the remote. Now I cannot get the remote to reprogram. In the many attempts to reprogram I was able to "sneak" in a re-program but then could not move through the rest of the settings, in other words it works sporadically. I have a hunch it is the remote that is not working. I looked at buying a new remote but it costs more to replace then buying a new system at Black Friday Pricing. So my question is if I buy a new GS2661TWU will the remotes work with my current main unit? If not can I just plug in the new GS2661TWU onto the old harnesses without re-wiring?
+Bernie Lozar HI Bernie We do not deal with GS part #s, only Autostart AS part #s, and while they should be the same wiring wise and operation wise, there *could* be differences and I don;t want to give you misleading info. Also, this is an email based enquiry, not something we'd provide over TH-cam comments publicly
HI .. I have an older auto start called the extreme ( ex-1724) we recently had a battery issue with our truck and after replacing the battery my system isn't working at all.... could the programming be the issue?
Hi Tania, the system could need the remotes re-programmed or it could be in valet mode. Autostart.ca has owners and install guides which you can download.
so where do i buy that pigtail wire? and what happens to the hood pin on my bench? what if I dont have 2 remotes, does this system still work?? where do i get that little white bulb? DUHHHHH
I've got mine reprogrammed, and is at least communicating with the car again. I can even unlock and lock the doors again............But now I'm getting 15 quick parking light flashes when I try to Start the car. Manuals online say that the problem is "The parking brake is connected to the Ground Wire." - Any idea how to fix that ? (I didn't install it)
Hi Andrew, we would suggest you consult a professional installer who can check to see if the remote start is in manual transmission mode, but a good question would be, is your car manual transmission>
Hi there, I have a question about my Auto Start remote starter. It came from the previous owner and worked well before during the last two winters, this year it's not working. I can use the remote starter transmitter to lock/unlock my car, but can not start the engine. I don't know what happened with it.
Hi I have the same issue. All functions work well but starting engine does not work. The lights flesh but the enginer does not work. Do you figure out what is going on there?
i have a NS-1074 with FCC id NAH800R ,, antenaa SH (433)-120 and cant get my remote to pair NAHTDK4 do i have the wrong remote antenna or something else it worked great for years b4 the remote broke?
I have a hood pin, but it doesn't work. I modified the above tutorial so that I didn't have to break my back to jump the autostart module. You can do it from the broken hood pin. 1) Remove gray wire from hood pin located at driver’s side front (under the hood). a. The gray wire is ground. 2) Attached jumper wire to gray wire. 3) Press jumper wire again non-painted part of vehicle for one second. a. Parking light will come on. 4) While parking light is on, have someone hold the wire against the car body. a. It will stay one again for 20 seconds. 5) Enter vehicle and turn key to on and then off. 6) Hold lock button for 5 seconds. It is programmed. 7) Redo steps 5 and 6 for other remotes.
+grgilpin Hello, yes your steps are correct IF the hoodpin wire has been run under the hood, many times people find it hasn't been, hence the requirement to go under the dash
hi i need help. i have autostart asrf-3515 which was working fine before. i dont have the 2nd fob when i got my car and its a pre-used. i thought the battery goes empty so i changed it, but still its not working. pushing all buttons does nothing for the car, but lights are showing on the fob whatever i press. no sounds coming out as well.
Please visit our website www.lockdownsecurity.ca, at the bottom of the page visit our Key Fob Programming help section, check out the Autostart programming article.
ok i have a 2015 toyota tundra , now i got an autostart asra 2510 install on it , when i start the truck with the remote and the wiper switch is ON the wiper are working ,this is not a good practice cause if the wiper are froze in , it will burn the wiper motor , what can be done ??
+John Gamelin Keep your wipers in the OFF position, the wipers are controlled by the ACC (accessory) circuit, which also powers your blower motor (climate controls). OR, determine the wiper control circuit (@ the switch) and install a relay to interupt it while the car is remote started. Easiest solution = don't leave your wipers on
Im having a problem for a while with my remote start i had mine installed since sep 15 and about feb my remote starter wouldnt start my car but it would attemp to like crank crank crank but thats all then it would stop and crank crank crank then stop and my remote on my 2 way pager would beep one long beep and display error but if i love my car 3 times like lock beep lock beep lock beep wait 3 sec and hit start on my remote it would crank and start i dont know whats wrong with and my shop that installed wants to charge me to check its about 100 dollars
Hi Bryan, this is definitely something the shop should check, and it should be covered under warranty if they did the install, although shops have different warranty policies on their labour so if they are saying they will charge you, guess they don't/didn't offer you any sort of warranty coverage. You may want to find and work with another shop, as your current one doesn't sound too customer focused
I can't find the help video i'm looking for. my remote starter isn't working and i don't understand the instructions i wrote down from the tech who fixed it a couple of years ago. They do work, just I didn't write enough detail for step 1 so i can't do it. I have an Orbit OB-2470V and the manual doesn't even have this easy fix. It's really the first step that I don't understand because my note-taking wasn't good enough. I wrote it down quick as the tech was explaining quick over the phone. This is what i have: 1. Flash hood -- switch. Car lights stay on for 30 seconds. 2. put foot on break while lights are on, press lock/unlock on remote, lights will flash. 3. take foot off break 4. start car with key. 5. after 3 seconds, press brake again, lights will flash and bam. Does anyone know what the heck the first step is all about? I don't have a hood pin and I remember him disconnecting a wire from the battery and touching it to the frame of the car to ground. It was once he did this that the lights went on for 30 seconds. I followed these instructions a couple of times shortly after he gave them to me, and they worked, but it was 2 years ago now and i haven't had problems since. I tried step one tonight in various ways and it didn't work. I tried with key at 1 click, lights on, then lights off, then i tried with key at second click with lights on, then off. I also tried with e-brake up and car in neutral. Does the door have to be open? I don't remember the specifics for step 1... any help is greatly appreciated!
I’ve tried the steps 3 times and no lights flash. I have the hood pin. I opened the hood, pushed the pin in, released it then shut hood. Then turned ignition on then off then press and held the AS button until the led on it flashed repetitively. Then let off. Tried starting and locking and unlocking nothing happened.😕
hello, thank you for your video tutorial, i have a problem i have order a used remote on ebay(NAHRS5304), but im not able to program it with my autostart, the remote is almost the same that the one i already have(NAHSAW4)), that seem to be another version but the case is the really simillar, is that possible that this particular version is not compatible with my system?
+David Gagné Well yes they are different, hence the different FCC id #s The remote you bought used will not work, return it to the eBay seller you bought it from for a refund. Here is a link to a brand new remote matching the FCC id you originally had: lockdownsecuritycanada.ca/products/autostart-as114-433-astr-b274

Sounds like your key fob is not working correctly or you may have an issue with the antenna.
Lockdown Security thanks! I went to a local installer yesterday and they came to the same conclusion. I really appreciate you guys posting this video!
Hi, would you please tell me where you connected the ignition bottom?
I have a 2008 Ford F-150 FX4. I have a WSST Compustar Model 2W901R-SS

If not, is there any process I need to do to program another autostart/Unlock/Lock FOB?
My car has the Autostart AS-1780U. I have two remotes that are functioning would it be possible to program and
add a 3rd remote?
Yes you can program a third key fob.
Thanks! Worked first try.
No problem, you are welcome!
That will work if i have any remote control ? All new remote will be program without having one already program ?

Thanks
door status does not matter at all. when the wire flush and the light is on then turn the key. try it . the most important is flush the wire.
Worked awesome, thanks very much!
You are very welcome
Worked like a charm.....Thanks.
You are so f*^#%^* helpful
Thanks to you my friend
Im working like 2 hours to programming and i was giving up
You are so helpful
Thanks again
What about Autostart AS-2510 TW? Same game?
Hi i have the autostart As-1214 in my car but unfortunately i lost my key and my remote. Can i find another remote and what is the procedure to make it works
Worked Thanks from Hamilton Canada
Worked perfectly for me. Thanks for the vid.
Hi an u explain me how to do it with thehood switch
i have ps 3175e no more working just door unlocked locked working from where can i order it in canada
Well made video, great instructions
unknownium275 Thank You, glad we could be of assistance.
but the door lock and window dont work now, what could cause it to dont work? you need to wire arm and disarm as well?
Not sure if I’ll get an answer. But even though another motor was put in our 07 Sienna will the remote work ? After putting in the “new” used motor the pin was gone. AS-1757v. I know they’re discontinued now.
Yes this should still work.
Lockdown Security Thank You for replying. Can I replace the hood pin or hood switch? I checked out a video that you don’t need a hood pin or hood switch to reactivate it. Is that possible ? Also would it affect anything in a long run ?
@@mom7630 A hoodpin is not required as per the title of this video. lockdownsecurity.forumbee.com/t/80b57s/autostart-key-fob-programming
Thank ,you for the video it helps a great deal. You made it look so easy.
No problem, thanks for watching!
I have reprogramed my remote like you mentioned and it worked but when I click the button on the remote to start the car, the lights flashes 5 times and nothing happens. What could be the issue? Do I need to program each function?
+Kola TheDog Please visit www.autostart.ca to download a user guide for your system, which will explain what 5 flashes means
mine does the same thing.. not sure the issue
Hey man thanks for this. I programmed my remote but my car wont start. It flashes 5 times. It is an automatic
I have the same issue.
Did you ever figure it out??
i got my new remote working thanks to this video, however the car only runs for a little while before shutting off. how can i get it to run for say 15 minutes? thank you
Not something we can explain via TH-cam comments, your best bet is to consult with a professional installer who can assist you further with that setting
Thanks for the reply!
My hood pin seems to be like new, also checked the wire and connection...same but will not eneter programming mode to add a fob. My Prostart 3271 unit also has a button(called PAB button) on the brains box you can use to program the remote if you didnt
have a hoodpin hooked up.. . neither button with the tap sequence you suggested nor the Hold for 4 sec, release and tap (from manual) will put the unit into program mode (turn on parking lights) Any Suggestions ?
Answer = YES
Thank you for the video. For the pigtail wire, what is the minimum amps?
+lockdown security I tried doing as you instructed but now the light just stays on instead of blinking. Do you know what this means? Thanks
+Shane mcGaffick Hi Shane, best bet is to consult a professional installer to assist you if you cannot get the procedure to work.
Awesome Explanation.. Thanks alot you made my day!
AWESOME, Very detailed, Thank you
My auto start nahrled is bad can I use another fob with it?
No
Start at 4:00 mark.
You’re welcome
Thanks!
Jeff - where do you recommend I get a hoodpin and replacement remote unit near Edmonton, AB?
lockdownsecuritycanada.ca/collections/hood-pins
So you need to open and close the hood in order to set up new remote? Odd way
I have a GS2371TW, last winter my remote would sporadically work and has gotten worse since.
+Bernie Lozar HI Bernie
We do not deal with GS part #s, only Autostart AS part #s, and while they should be the same wiring wise and operation wise, there *could* be differences and I don;t want to give you misleading info. Also, this is an email based enquiry, not something we'd provide over TH-cam comments publicly
Jeff can you send me your email through a private message. I would like to chat further about this.
+Bernie Lozar sales@lockdownsecurity.ca (it's a public email so it's all good to post here), mark it attention Jeff
I have a 2008 chev equinox I got a new remote how do I synch it to my dash.
Thanks, great video!!!
what would be the procedure if if one has a push button ignition?
+vgar1 Same as outlined in the video, nothing changes
so where do i buy that pigtail wire? and what happens to the hood pin on my bench? what if I dont have 2 remotes, does this system still work?? where do i get that little white bulb? DUHHHHH
Hi I need your help I have blue light on is not Flash 🤔 why is blue light going on whole time but not flash light ??
I've got mine reprogrammed, and is at least communicating with the car again. I can even unlock and lock the doors again............But now I'm getting 15 quick parking light flashes when I try to Start the car. Manuals online say that the problem is "The parking brake is connected to the Ground Wire." - Any idea how to fix that ? (I didn't install it)
Hi Andrew, we would suggest you consult a professional installer who can check to see if the remote start is in manual transmission mode, but a good question would be, is your car manual transmission>
Nope, Automatic. I appreciate the response. :)
@@saunterworld Can you check if you accidentally put your remote starter into valet mode? I exited valet mode and everything was good.
Do you leave that wire in the black and gray slots once programmed. Thanks
Yes, but make sure the gray wire does not touch the chassis or a source of ground, otherwise the system will think the hood is open
thanks lockdown for this video it works for me.
i have a NS-1074 with FCC id NAH800R ,, antenaa SH (433)-120 and cant get my remote to pair NAHTDK4 do i have the wrong remote antenna or something else it worked great for years b4 the remote broke?

How do you do it WITH a hood pin?
ok i have a 2015 toyota tundra , now i got an autostart asra 2510 install on it , when i start the truck with the remote and the wiper switch is ON the wiper are working ,this is not a good practice cause if the wiper are froze in , it will burn the wiper motor , what can be done ??
+John Gamelin Keep your wipers in the OFF position, the wipers are controlled by the ACC (accessory) circuit, which also powers your blower motor (climate controls). OR, determine the wiper control circuit (@ the switch) and install a relay to interupt it while the car is remote started. Easiest solution = don't leave your wipers on
+Jeff Bates thanks , that is what the installer told me but i had trouble beleiving him , other remote don`t have that problem !!!
Use a relay to interrupt the wipers.
Tx. It worked!!!
This is what i have:
1. Flash hood -- switch. Car lights stay on for 30 seconds.
2. put foot on break while lights are on, press lock/unlock on remote, lights will flash.
3. take foot off break
4. start car with key.
5. after 3 seconds, press brake again, lights will flash and bam.
Also open close then left hood open turn on then off key and held in AS key nothing there either
Great... I now know I was dumb 😢😢.
I need to see how to do it in an actual car please 😊
You are not dumb.

hello, thank you for your video tutorial, i have a problem i have order a used remote on ebay(NAHRS5304), but im not able to program it with my autostart, the remote is almost the same that the one i already have(NAHSAW4)), that seem to be another version but the case is the really simillar, is that possible that this particular version is not compatible with my system?
+David Gagné Well yes they are different, hence the different FCC id #s The remote you bought used will not work, return it to the eBay seller you bought it from for a refund.
Here is a link to a brand new remote matching the FCC id you originally had: lockdownsecuritycanada.ca/products/autostart-as114-433-astr-b274
