It's because the pearl should never be given alone but in a pair with another pearl as a set. My boyfriend went the jewelry shop to get me a pearl necklace. They told him the pearl necklace should never be given alone but in pair. So, he got me a beautiful set with earrings. Then I researched and found out that women who were given just a pearl necklace either died or sth terrible happened to them.
