Yes, that's what brought me here in the first place. I get a lot of leftover yarn from my mom and others with no label. I need a method to determine the right hook or needle for the yarn I'm using.
@@KatarinaS. If the label is lost but you know what the brand of yarn was, you can Google the yarn and find the recommended hook/needle size. If you don't know what brand it is at all but you know how to determine the yarn size by looking, you can usually look in your stash for another yarn of the same size thickness (chunky, worsted, dk, etc..) and find that info on the label for the similar yarn. Also if you're working from a pattern, it usually tells the hook/needle size on the pattern. I hope this helps a little. ☺
www.craftyarncouncil.com/standards/how-measure-wraps-inch-wpi I am a beginner and have the same problem since I buy local yarn and that comes with no labels though I haven’t tried this WPI myself yet but it seems like it will work ....

Lots of things do utube or a google search to find out, just as easy to type your question in a search bar as it is to type in the comment section of some video that has not been recorded for the info you are looking for 🧐
Super easy way to know which size to use is to read the label? But it's not set in stone you can chose thinner or thicker, to preference. How is this video ten minutes long...
@@KatarinaS. Once you start knitting or crocheting with the size you think is good, you'll be able to tell if you'd prefer a tighter stitch then try a smaller size but if your stitches are too tight or stiff you might go with a bigger hook/needle.

Which needle size to use for chenille yarn?
I have Just Chenille yarn from Dollar Tree and the label states 8mm hook. It’s a #6 bulky yarn. Check your label for info.
