It's probably important to note that this transmitter can't do D8 mode. A lot of people looking to go cheap are probably also looking at getting micro whoops, which pretty much all use D8. The Tinyhawk S can use D16 but comes set on D8 as default. It's been tricky to switch. I have a friend who's bought this to go with a Tinyhawk S and he's had a lot of trouble having them get along with each other. To be able to control D8 micros, this needs a multiprotocol module. How you said, D16 works on some models but isn’t really supported. So you either have to get a new radio or the Multi Protocol Module which costs about 30 bucks.

Any reccomendations for 2020 or is this the one ?
Does this work with tiny hawk s?
you should take a look at possibly smallest 1w UHF - new FrSky R9M Light Pro TX + R9MM-OTA ;-D it is crazy small and slides right into this controller + over the air update for RX!!
I think JR port are being tased out for smaller one like here
Was hoping it could do D8 to fly the toothpick and whoop class quads.
that's not a bad price for having hall effect gimbals. are they ball bearing too? had this been out a year ago i'd get it instead of the x7s
Please tell me more about drone
Please compare this to the QX7S
*psa about this radio* get your hot glue gun ready because the usb port is a bit fragile. It will snap off the board fairly easily. Repairing it with a regular soldering iron is a no go. When you open it up to adjust your gimbals, put a big ol blob of hot glue all over the connector 👍
This maybe a great idea. I've personally never had trouble with any of usd, mini or micro on any my devices, but some people reported micro usd is more fragile.
Overall I like my blue X9 lite a lot.
@@jackfpv8904 yea just reporting in my experience. I got a usb dongle for the sim so it's all good but still kind of a bummer. Still dig the radio, someday maybe I'll get a new main board but for the price of that May as well get a whole new radio and keep a backup.
The usb broke off from upward pressure on the cable lifting the connector off of the board. It's only surface mounted, there's no pins
@@bren42069 if it happens to me I will definitely relocate usb port from bottom up. How this people at FrSky cant get it. It will be soooooo convenient.
Ill stick with my qx7 with upgrade hall effect gimbals i like the full size form factor not to mention no D8 support
Just pre-ordered my new 2019 FrSky Taranis X9D Plus SE
@Sutro Crossfire
Should i get this or the flysky i6x? Is the added value worth it?
Get X9 lite. 10 times better then i6x
What drone are you using? And what goggles?
Tyro 69, is it worth it??? I really want a micro drone as well, but i dont want a complete piece of junk.
Don't buy that junk. You will regret.
Get Emax, or Diatone instead, or any another make with has history to be good. Most Eachine products are garbage.
You can mod the back cover plate he threw away, to accept other modules.
Don't do that on the sticks I broke the spring of my m9 gymbal. Great review aa usual 👍
Hi I like your channel and am presently
flying a Spark but like the look of FPV of course
was thinking to get the radio and simulator as you showed in
another video . So the price of one is $70 and the other $110
with updated gimbals ?? I am from Australia living in Bangkok
are you in Australia the paddock looked like Oz gum trees ..
Drones are fresh territory for me and i cant help but call that brand frisky
I want to buy
Baahh, and I've just ordered the QX7 last week :( how is the X9-lite compared to the QX7?
Don't worry about it mate, you really can't go wrong with the QX7!
QX7 is alot better, x9-lite does not support D8 which alot of whoop/micro class quads use
@@glyde79 Thanks man, glad to know! Just bought the Tinyhawk, and it says D8 mode indeed. Will stick with the QX7
These new access Access radios dont support D8 which alot of whoops use like the tinyhawk which is a deal breaker in my opinion
Apparently the new Tinhawks can bind in D16 mode which these radios support
@@elli0tttttttt yep but the range is not as good
Oh that's funny, I use the same switch for arming :)
It cant connect to Xm+
Great video Stew! Does this version work with Velocidrone or any other simulator? Thanks!
It has a micro USB port so it should be able to connect to the computer as a joystick like other taranis radios
But that is one of the new radios that will not support D8 receivers. So if you buy any of the tiny bind and fly quads you can't use that receiver. The QX7 is a much better choice because it can do D16 and D8 and will give you full support for all the drones you will buy. Many people who buy this and then go out and get a little Emax model will be disappointed to see even though the model says it is frsky it is using D8 and this radio can't do that.
First 🤘🏻😎🤘🏻 from USA 🇺🇸With Emojis 🤗
Show us flying your Tiny Whoops with this and then I'm sold, otherwise it is a No Go!
You can buy an xjt lite module which supports D8, for the tiny whoops
@@christesterman5004 Thanks for the info, of all the reviews on the new FRSky radio's nobody mentioned this module
Dude I hate how just because a radio is affordable, you say it’s for beginners. This radio can be upgraded in many different ways. It can even carry a nano module like crossfire. It can have upgraded gimbals. It is a Taranis period! NOT JUST FOR BEGINNERS! This radio will do mostly everything that even a pro could appreciate!
U can get it for 70$ from rdq
It will do d8 mode also it really.isnt that hard to do and you can put a jr module you just buy an 8 dollar adapter it does everything the old ass qx7 will do and more
wtf is this decoration thingy in the right corner xD You just slammed propellers together haha
Its a pineapple
But this still do not support D8. Will get it only if Frsky decides to support D8 in future.
i do the stick thing on my radio all the time :)
Nice shirt
I wonder how firmware updating would sound to let s say a new car buyer .
if you want to drive the thing you will need this . then the sales guy throws a computer and some cables at you and I almost forgot the pathetic LINK to some video you can t understand
d16
d8
fcc.lbt
I took my woop and drove my car over it
SPEKTRUM BNF FOR LIFE
love you stew
It changed cause I got mine for 60 when they first aired
No! It CAN NOT bind with the old FrSky Receiver!!!😡
Older flysky x6 is better cheaper harder to use but for get the future. Why keep reinventing the wheel.😁👎🇬🇧
Mark Vande Sande because you can use the same receivers if you start with an FrSky protocol transmitter. Also, this is way better.
@@thomatofpv3546 you cant use D8 recievers which alot of whoop class quads use
Buddy Abdi I have my beta65 pro 2 setup on d16 as well. Works great. I would personally add an xm/ xm+ either way to a d8 built-in receiver so idk 👍🏻
@@thomatofpv3546 ive heard alot of ppl who run their whoops on d16 get less range than on d8, but each to their own, i have the x9d SE so wont be moving on to any of these access radios any time soon also i have alot of micro/whoop class which i would rather use d8 on
Buddy Abdi yeah, I don't really care since I lose video on 25mw before I lose control so it's fine. I'm considering selling my X-Lite and r9m lite and buy a crossfire micro tx and x9 lite. I would have to put in 30 bucks extra.
just no i would rather get a x lite
Uh, no crossfire support no buy
