Too bad they didn't go back and find all of the other "Health" and "Safety" etc. in-between segments; that would've been truly incredible...but I'm afraid to complain here. It's amazing this exists.

@@BatmanNotesDotCom, I actually completed my Superfriends DVD collection, 11 years ago, but other people I know deserve to have the complete collection, including my cousin and her family in Columbus OH!!!

I was born in 1974 I have SuperFriends Bed sheet and pillow cases stored in my shed with copyright date 1978 Just turned 50 This was my childhood! 😥

My guess as to why the scratches weren't removed from the frames is to keep the cost of the box set down, or maybe some restorationists believe if the scratches were there at the time of the first broadcast, then you have to preserve the scratches. METV Toons announced they have received permission from Warner Brothers and DC to air the HD version of the show.

I still have the old DVD's but I'm waiting until this gets heavily discounted, I saw this at an Amoeba store in Hollywood for $95 but no way was I paying those prices.

I'm a late adopter to this show and found it courtesy of the former Teletoon Retro in Canada. I loved it when it had full-length stories rather than when it changed for a bit to three stories in one. The Wonder Twins got annoying fast, for example; and the ONE Legion of Doom story was a short one with only a few cast members available and defeated by only Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman. I watched Challenge a long time ago here on TH-cam when the time limit was still in place and my connection wasn't perfect either. And while the Darkseid era wasn't perfect either, it DID give us Firestorm as well as the first showing of Batman's origin and while Batman was voived by Adam West! Firestorm would later be a favourite on the live action Flash and Legends of Tomorrow series.

Thanks for checking out the video. Hopefully I gave you some pros and cons of opting for the Blu-Ray version in my video review. I say "yes" because it's the best version available, however it also depends of your budget and overall love of the series.
@@BatmanNotesDotCom I appreciate you writing back. When I was looking for it last night the blu ray was $140 and the dvd was $70 which is why I searched, found your video and asked. This morning the blu ray was $107 so I jumped on it!
I have been looking for this for years! I've left comments on message boards and various online stores about why isn't there a complete collection. You could only buy bits and pieces and it was virtually impossible to get the complete collection. Well I saw your video, subscribed and went and bought it on Amazon. It will arrive later today. Thanks for posting this. I look forward to watching all 3142 minutes of childhood memories and Super exploits :)

This is a great set. I grew up watching Super Friends 😁 I bet the Blu-ray set is pretty expensive.
I don’t think the price is bad considering how many discs are included.
When I was a kid I used to LOVE the Fall Preview specials where they showed all the new upcoming cartoons.

I have the entire series on individual d.v.d releases. ''THE CHALLENGE OF THE SUPERFRIENDS'' was the most dramatic of the entire series. As far as the packaging, the seperate releases wins hands down.
I want the Blurays but they appear to be region locked. And while I do have a multi region player, it's not connected to the "good" TV and feels like a waste, so might as well go DVD. Are you able to confirm the Region thing pls?

I was hoping that Challenge of the Super Friends would be released in this set in its original (Super Friends 1978 /Challenge) 1-hour format. Unfortunately like the last individual releases, it is broken up into two shows.
that first year of SUperfriends was godawful...it didnt get better until Zan, jayna and gleek were added.

Super friends, was the main Saturday morning cartoon that my brother and I, looked forward to, every Saturday. We are both "Big DC Comics" fans

Let's face it- clear as day, Hanna-Barbera's most successful adventure cartoon program is clearly The Superfriends. Although the characters belong to D.C. Comics, that long 13 year run on ABC Saturday mornings(1973-86) speaks volumes and at the same time, this was the beginning of the eventual merger of H-B, Warner Bros. and D.C. Comics. WB has scores of long-running animated TV programs in addition to The Superfriends- I needn't explain 17 years of Scooby-Doo(1969-86), which'll likely be the next long-running program getting a complete series box set from Warner Home Video, also The Smurfs(1981-90), The Flintstone Funnies(1979-84), which deserves to have a DVD release and so on. Honorable mention, Tarzan Lord of the Jungle(1976-84), produced by Filmation and that long list goes on and on- BTW, we still get plenty of the Looney Tunes. When it comes to Saturday morning cartoon classics, Warner Bros. owns whole shiploads of programs!!!

Yes, but do the DVD"s actually work? That was the problem with the original sets. Too many faulty discs, a common flaw with Warner Bros.
My DVD set works fine.

Honest review. Just boosting the chroma in the colors really isn't plus to buy the blu-ray IMHO. I know that is suppose to enhance the picture quality, but TBH it sorta makes it wonky. Some colors are brighter and some just change to a different shade. Not a fan of that. Thanks for the side by side comparison. I will be getting the dvd version. I'm interested in watching the LOST episodes. I've noticed that same problem with the plastic dvd boxes. I just started putting all of mine in paper sleeves. No chance of braking the dvd. I was born in 66 and was the perfect age when these first aired. Never missed it on Saturday morning.

Great review! The extras from the original DVD sets did get ported over EXCEPT unexplainably the ones from the Challenge of the Super Friends DVD. The two commentaries and the “Saturday, Sleeping Bags and Super Friends” Retrospective are missing unless O just missed them. Otherwise, I can replace all my other discs with this great set.
I want to get the Blu-Ray set, but I'll wait for the price to go down.
does any one know if the bluray is region free i know the listing says region a but some times they are region free
Cel dust and other things part of the original photography should never be removed. Film damage and print/negative dirt, yes.

Is most of the damage removed tho? Like is it really something you see only if you try to look?
Check out the example video I shared in the review. If you can't see the picture insincerities or are not bothered by it, then you're probably not going to notice when watching it. The Blu-Ray version are definitely better than the original.

Except they totally can. On broadcast TV, no less. MeTV has been running weekday morning and Saturday morning cartoons for years now, and they did so well with it that they launched their own 24/7 cartoon channel, which is also on broadcast tv. Even before the new network they were running 11 hours of cartoons a week.
